Help! Advice needed!!
Okay ladies....
My husband and I are helping out with a friend's wedding (distant friend) and once my coordinating job is done (after the meal has been served) my husband and I have been told we are welcome to stay, eat, drink and enjoy the party. So here's my question... do I get a gift?! I was thinking about it and I'm not sure what the etiquette is. I'm technically "working" her wedding, as a favor... but I don't know if I should bring something to the couple. HELP!!! What would you ladies do?! |

Celebrating 1 year together!
Wow... I can hardly believe that it's been a whole year since the wedding (well, almost)! I come on here sometimes to look at blogs and I try to give advice whenever I can. Gosh, I know it was such a stressful time but in a strange way I miss the whole planning thing... anyone else feel that way?!
What are you ladies up to these days?? Any exciting news?? Anyone also have a one year coming up? I'd love to hear what you ladies have done in your first year of marriage. I graduated with my M.F.A (Hooray)! And started working at a local college (double hooray) at a job that I love! The hubby is about to finish his M.F.A in a few weeks. So this year has been busy, and very happy. We did some traveling and have very much enjoyed adjusting to our new roles as husband and wife. I hope the same happiness has found the rest of you! Next weekend for our Anniversary we're going to Santa Barbara for a few days and staying at Brisas del Mar ... http://www.brisasdelmarinn.com/index.asp It looks amazing, I can't wait! Bouquet Preservation!
Okay ladies, I thought I would give you all a recommendation/update on one of the post-wedding keepsakes I decided to have done. My Mom arranged for someone to pick up my bouquet at the very end of the reception so it could be professional preserved.
For you Southern CA brides, we used : http://www.infinitybouquets.com/ And it turned out AMAZING as you can see from the photos. Now I must warn you, mine was VERY expensive. But, she does say that she works with all kinds of budgets. I'm so glad we had it done though because I think it's a keepsake that we will have forever and a unique way to remember the day! What do you ladies think? |

Here are some pictures of the ceremony. There are so many, it's taking me quite a while to go through all of them and pick the ones I like :o)
Our MOH and Best Man lit our tapers for our Unity Candle. As our best friends, they represented our lives as individuals, and they were so honored to light the candles. It was a special moment. However, when Matt and I tried to light our middle candle... he blew it out along with the two tapers!! It was so funny, and immediately we both tried to relight the center candle. The entire church was in hysterics over it. And all day long people kept coming up to me saying "That was too funny when Matt blew out the candle" "Very cute". I guess it's the things you don't plan for that are the most memorable :o) Hope you ladies enjoy the pictures... more on the way! |

A few new wedding snap shots!
My cousin made Matt and I a slide show of the pictures she took at the rehearsal and wedding. She is the proud Mama of my two beautiful flower girls so there are lots of pictures of the girls... but I thought it was such a sweet gesture to do this for us!
I'm still impatiently awaiting alllll of my pictures :o) But aren't my little flower girls just too darn cute? UPDATE: Added pics that Matt's Uncle took. He also got an entire video of the ceremony. It was fun to watch it... to tide me over til we get our professional video :o) My professional photographs are in the mail! Should be here tomorrow! |

Hubby loves taking pictures of the ring with my wedding band :o) Me The necklace my parents gave me on the day of the wedding The earrings my husband gave me on the day of the wedding...they match! First gift! It wasn't a box of Jack...but a funny picture! We made Matt wear the bows from all the gifts. Us. My parents gift was the last to be opened... What could be in that big box?! Gift Opening Party
Pictures!!
I know it's taking me forever to get this stuff up... but here we go. This was our gift opening luncheon party! About 4 days after the wedding my husband and I drove to my parents house to open all of our gifts. It was a small get-together. My Mom, Dad, Grandma, Sister (MOH), Uncle Joe (our ceremony musician) and my Aunt Lynn and Uncle Tim.
We had SO MUCH FUN. If you guys are thinking about doing this, I would definitely recommend it! My parents had quite a spread of yummy food, we ate the top layer of the wedding cake and they decorated. It was such a fun celebration and we got to talk about the wedding day. I didn't have much time to spend with my family the day of the wedding and this was such a fun way to see what their perspective was on the day! My sister wrote down everything we got which helped out a lot for the Thank You notes! Also, my amazing parents were so generous in not only throwing us this party... but they bought us a gift! They hosted the entire wedding and we told them not to buy us anything but they did... we were so shocked to see they bought us a 47" flat screen T.V!! The pictures tell it all. Hope you enjoy... it was lots of fun! P.S. I know I'm spoiled but I'm going CRAZY waiting for my wedding photos!! AK! |
