Calling All Brides!
Wedding Ceremony Programs?!
Now maybe I missed the memo with this one...but through all of my planning I haven't thought at all about having a wedding program! One of my Bridesmaids showed me a program the other day and asked what I was thinking of doing and I was shocked, I told her I hadn't thought of doing what at all. She said she had never seen a wedding without them...and thus this post! :o)

So ladies, how many of you are doing programs? Is anyone NOT doing them? And if so, how to you give credit to your officiant and musicians or ceremony readers?

I have seen lots of beautiful program examples on the internet...the Knot has a ton...but I would like to find the cheapest option possible. Any advice? Has anyone run into a pretty template they are using that is free online?

Please bestow your wisdom upon me! I would love to hear what you all know about Wedding Programs. Thanks so much!

I am doing programs because we are having a Catholic ceremony and there are only about 6 out of 125 guests that will know what is going on. I will be crediting musicians, officiant and the readers and also adding directions a thank you to our family and friends. Here is a download of a bunch of free program templates I have collected:

P.S. One of the easiest options would probably be a DIY program. If you are looking for a very simple one, an easy way to do this is to have a one page program. So you could have the program  be 11 inches high x 4. 25 inches wide (you can fit two on a page) and have all info listed on the card. Buy some cardstock from an office supply store and print them out, or have them printed at Staples in black and white and it will cost you a few bucks. If you want to see samples of programs this size, check out this link (the size is referred to as "tea length"):

The link will show you an example of the program I am talking about. if you need any help designing them , just ask and I can help you out.

You do not need to do program unless you think that certain traditions in your ceremony may not be understood as not all guests are of the same ethic origin.

Im not doing programmes simply because I am getting married in another country and Im not sure what exactly will be happening myself only for a few ideas I want to incorporate. I think that people will be so zoned in on the fact that its so different from the norm that they wont notice. I was at my SIL wedding last month and they had the programmes by the door for people to collect on their way in and no one did. So at the last min the groomsmen had to run out and get them and distribute them to everyone. Afterwards then the majority of people just left them there. So I know she was a little pissed after spending all that money that they got little use really. People flick through them to see how long the ceremony is being honest but thats my opinion!

Beleive me, I've thought about what a waste of time they are! Anytime I've gone to a wedding, I haven't paid much attention to the programs. I'm more wrapped up in the bride and groom. But I was told by my mother that I MUST have them (sigh). But I feel your pain!

I am doing programs and love the ones you picked out. I was looking at those as well and I love the fuchsia color paper.

lol ... I think I am your opposite.  My first engagement purchase was the program paper.  I went to our local Religious book store, where they have pretty paper on one side, and blank on the other.  The programs that suited us were on sale :)  It has a picture of a flute and a flower, I think, and has a cute saying about being "love's duet".

I intend to put more information into my programs than most people.  I want my programs to be useful. One idea I have is to include small bios of the people who are participating (readers, bridal party, etc.) instead of "friend of the bride".  This may result in longer programs, and ultimately, more work, but I don't mind.
