Engagement Photos
A friend of ours came to the house and took some pictures this past August. Most of them are at our house, and a few are from the Valley Falls State Park. She only charged us like $25 to do them!

Wedding Flowers
Bouquet Flowers
My favorite are Anemones!!! The delicate white petals with the striking black centers are beautiful! I'm going to mix a few of these within my bouquet along with hydrangeas and extensively petaled Ecuadorian roses.

Centerpieces
I love Curly Willow!
I really like the curly willow in centerpieces and found it for really cheap (driedflowersrus.com 450 stems for $94.94).
We're going to do a modification of picture #1 with the curly willow, white larkspur, hydrangeas, roses, and a couple of anemones. We are putting the centerpieces together ourselves with flowers from www.fiftyflowers.com. This site has a nice variety with good prices. The flowers are delivered as buds and directions are given on how to get the flowers to bloom just right before the big day! |

Wedding Folklore, Myths, and Good Luck Charms
*A law in 1775 said a wedding was not legal if the bride wore makeup during the ceremony.
*Wedding and engagement rings are worn on the fourth finger of the left hand because it was long believed a vein ran from that finger directly to the heart. *Ancient Greek and Romans said a wedding veil protected the bride from evil spirits. It has been a tradition to wear a veil ever since. *The term "tie the knot" comes from Roman times when the bride wore a girdle tied in knots that the groom was later able to untie. Some also believe it refers to the knots of rope that were tied to form the marriage bed. *In Holland a pine tree is planted outside of the newlyweds' home for good luck and fertility. *For good luck, Egyptian women are known to pinch the bride on her wedding day. *Hindu tradition says rain on your wedding day is good luck. *English tradition says that Wednesday is the best day to marry. Monday is for wealth and Tuesday is for health. *According to Greek culture, tuck a sugar cube into your glove on your wedding. The sugar will sweeten your union. *The groom carries his newly betrothed across the threshold to protect her from evil spirits. |

Ask a Question
Whats to do about a Veil?
Any suggestions on what kind of veil to wear with my Maggie Sottero? I don't really want something too long that will cover up the detailing on my dress, but I don't know that I can pull off a birdcage (like my mom wants me to try). Any Suggestions???
