This is cassieandkyle's Pink Wedding!

So, 57 days to go! I have so much to do still. I am remaining calm though. If the little stuff doesn't get done, oh well. No stress!

I have made a few purchases. I ordered an Illini garter set from etsy.com. The FH is a crazed fan! I ordered 50 white vellum envelopes from paperandmore.com and 50 lables that say "For Your Tears Of Joy" and "Cassie & Kyle 04.25.09" from myweddinglables.com. I ordered a Ring Pillow of white silk dupioni with our first dance lyrics and our initials and wedding date from etsy.com also. Our first dance song is "Colorful" by The Verve Pipe.

My bridal shower was on Sunday and it was so much fun!! It was wonderful to spend a couple hours with family and friends.

I didn't want to play games at my shower but my sister went ahead and planned one anyway. I was relieved when there was only one game and it was a riot! My girls had hung up pictures of me and Kyle when we were kids and everyone had to guess how old we were. The pictures were hilarious. Picture a skinny 4 year old boy standing in his batman underroos with his t-shirt tucked into them wearing tube socks, I laughed my ass off!

It was a great day! I hope all you girls enjoy your shower as much as I enjoyed mine!

So, I have finally decided on the reception flowers.

3 tulips in a cylinder vase, 2 pink, 1 purple. 2-4 vases per rectangular table.

I LOVE IT! It's simple, different, whimsical and romantic!

So, the FH and I had our cake tasting and meeting with the baker today. I AM SO EXCITED!!!!!

Patty-Cakes in Highland, Illinois is doing our cake and it is going to be awesome. She has been seen in The Knot and several other publications and has also been seen on The Food Network. You can see her on The Food Network March 8th.

She will be decorationg the cake similar to the one pictured. 4 teirs, buttercream, french vanilla w/strawberry and cream cheese filling, chocolate w/fudge filling, butter pecan w/caramel filling and vanilla w/buttercream filling. There will be 50 sugar flowers.

I ate so much cake I will need to walk an extra 1/2 hr tonight! But it was so worth it!

So gosh 89 days until the BIG DAY! I am really excited but feeling crunched on time!

I did finally decide on and order the invitations. What a huge relief that was. I think the invitations I decided on capture the tone of the day. Casual and whimsical too.

I did my first DIY project also. (I am not the creative-hands-on-DIY-girl!). I made coloring books for the kid's table. The front has our names and wedding date with a bride and groom and the coloring pages I copied out of a coloring book I already had for my nephews. I tied them together with a pink ribbon. I also bought juice boxes and snacks for the kiddies. I wrote a little "poem" to put on the table:

THIS IS THE KID'S TABLE
WE ARE SO GLAD YOU CAME!
HERE WE HAVE COLORING PAGES, CRAYONS AND GAMES.
WE ALSO HAVE JUICE BOXES AND SOME SNACKS,
BUT PLEASE TAKE ONLY ONE

WE WANT YOU TO HAVE A GOOD DAY AND GOOD NIGHT,
WE LOVE YOU ALL

I also ordered personalized wine charms from etsy.com to use as place cards for the wedding party. I am really excited about the wine charms!!! I ordered them from Michelle at glassidentities. She was incredible to work with.

Kyle and I ordered his wedding band today. He has such simple taste that I almost, I repeat almost, feel guilty his band cost so little compared to my rings.

We picked out the tuxes a couple of weeks ago. My man loves the watermelon pink vests, ties and pocket squares. We decided to do the pocket squares in place of bouts for the guys. The dad's, grandpa's and special guests will have bouts though.

I was very disappointed when Father told us we couldn't use the ecofetti at the church. So I guess now we are doing bubbles.

My shoes came in too. I got them at David's Bridal. Got them dyed watermelon. They look awesome!! Kyle says they are sexy!

Finally, I go Tuesday to talk with the baker about my cake. I can't wait to work with Patty at Patty Cakes!

So with 110 days to go I finally did a little wedding shopping which I have been putting off. Bought the aisle runner, guest book pen, about 100 candles, some fabric for the hand made ring bearer pillow, 20 wine glasses and 3 large glass containers for the popcorn buffet. I ordered a personalized hankie for myself from etsy also. I feel a little better knowing I knocked a few things off my list.

The one thing I don't have yet are my shoes!!! I'm getting a little freaked about that. I went to David's Bridal and every shoe I liked they didn't have in a size 7 and was being discontinued. The only reason I want to get them at DB is so I can have them dyed watermelon. I'm going back in a day or two because I need to get this done ASAP!!!

In general I am starting to freak regarding the amount of things still needing to be done. I am the worlds worst procrastinator. I'm not a procrastinator when it comes to work or other things but when it comes to planning things, especially things in which the planning starts months ahead, I put things off thinking "hey I still have X months yet, I have plenty of time". I guess in the end it will either get done or it won't.

I was browsing through etsy and found these lovely clutches. I was going to get one from Davids Bridal and have it dyed to match the BM dresses but now I am rethinking that idea. The print adds a bit of whimsy to the day which is something I want. Plus it can be used again (that in and of itself makes this a reasonable purchase)!!!!!

I saw this bell program on customprograms.com and I have got to have these. You can get them in different paper types and colors with matching ribbons. They are more than I was planning on spending on programs but I can cut costs on something I'm sure ; ) !

Found this pic on brides.com in the registry section. I love this look. It has candles and flowers and would be fairly inexpensive.

So we went to the travel agency to inquire about packages to Niagara Falls and Montreal and the agent convinced us, because it will still be "chilly" in April/May, that we should consider an all inclusive to Mexico. She said not only will it be warm it would also be cheaper. So we decided to do Canada next year (even though I don't mind the cold or spending the money). We even considered Europe but have already been.

She suggested the Riviera Maya area instead of say Cancun or Cozumel because it is not so crowded and the ruins are right there yet it's close enough to Cancun and Cozumel we could still visit.

So we are thinking the Akumal Beach Resort is where we will stay. It's not 5 star but we don't plan on spending alot of time in the room. If anyone has stayed there let me know how it was. Other resorts were suggested so we are still considering our options.

NO MATTER WHERE WE GO I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!

I was so exited when the doorbell rang and it was fed-ex with my delivery. I ordered some personalzed napkins in pink that say "Eat Drink and be Married" with our wedding date and names and they are AWESOME! I also ordered a cake serving set with our name and wedding date which I love and two cameras for the ring bearers. I got them all from the wedding channel store.

I also ordered a ring bowl from etsy.com. I LOVE IT! I removed the string they had on it and tied a pink ribbon. It was a bit smaller than I thought it was going to be but smaller works better for little boy hands.

Can't wait to get more stuff in!

The one thing I know I'm giving my girls is some kind of stationary. Maybe a note set or a journal. The ones I have pictured are from Cotton Idea Studio.

These are the style I'm looking to wear. I tried on a necklace that was very ornate and it looked like too much compared to the simplicity of my dress.


Update 11/12/08: Bought a pair of earrings for $8.99 at the gift shop at the hospital I work at and they are perfect with my dress. How great is that.

Not having animals in my wedding but I thought these guys were really cute with their ring pillows.

So, there are so many things I would love to have at my wedding that are totaly financially urealistic. For example; fireworks. I always wanted a fireworks display but we can so not afford it.

Sky lanterns are a more inexpensive way to achieve a dramatic ending to the big day. I think even if we only lit two it would be beautiful. Now if only I can convice the FH.

I would love to have a bouncy house and a balloon twister at our wedding but unfortunately it's not in the budget. I absolutely want to do something special with the kid's table. I may even do a teens table since my son is 15 and we have lots of teenagers in the family.

My dress finally arrived and I tried it on at the boutique and guess what!? I STILL LOVE IT! And my veil and slip were also in. Even better, I may not have to have any aterations done (unless I lose weight, yeah right!). I didn't have the right shoes with me so depending on the shoes the only alteration I may need is in length and I'm talking only a matter of maybe 3 inches.

I'M SOOOOO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!

When I first started planning my wedding I had my heart set on the cake labled #2. I love the ribbon of flowers and the simplicity of this cake. Now I find myself torn between the the two. I love the flowers on cake #1 and the bright vivid colors.

I can't decide. Please help!!

After changing my mind a million times I think this is the invitation we are going to use.

What are everyone's thoughts on using silk flowers opposed to real flowers. Is anyone considering using them?

So after meeting with half a dozen florists I have finally booked the flowers. Yah!

Either sweetpea bouteneers or floral pocket squares made of bright pink sweetpeas for the groom/groomsmen.

So the more I think about my color choice of fushia or bright pink the more I am worried that I don't have an accent color. The bright pinks are pretty strong and I worry that they will be overpowering. I want romantc not red light district neon. The thing is that I don't want to have an obvious 2nd color like orange or green. I just want something subtle to soften the overall look. HELP!

My girls dresses, the flowers, napkins, paper lanterns are all bright pink. The only things so far that have other color is the sheer ribbon which has bright pink, light pink, light green and yellow and the cake which will have (all pastel) pink, blue, yellow, purple and green sugar flower ribbon.

Maybe I'm just freaking out for no reason but I want to do this right because "you only get married once".

My guy is a HUGE ILLINI FAN so I thought I would surprise him with an Illini garter. He will be absolutley thrilled! : )

Have any of you girls used or heard anything about this specific online flower company?
I am considering using them for the tulips for my centerpieces.

If anyone has any advice about using an online company I would appreciate it.
