Wedding Showers
Getting closer...
Wow...long time no WBC! This past month has went so quickly that I almost forgot my countdown....only 33 more days to go! Here's my Top Ten List for the past 30-something days.
1. Showers! Two showers down, three more to go! My first shower was given by my Bridal Party & it was the big "gift" shower. I convinced the FH to come along so he could open gifts too (since he used the "clicker" more than I did). The second shower was given by my church & it featured a money tree instead of gift...YES! Tomorrow is my work shower, followed by a family Jack & Jill Shower on June 3, and at last the Lingerie/Bachelorette on June 17. 2. TCAP Scores are in! Okay, time to brag! My TCAP scores (state-mandated test for public schools) just arrived last week and they are FABULOUS! I'm so proud of my kiddos! Now I can mark that worry off my list. 3. SUMMER VACATION: Yes, it's offical! SCHOOL'S OUT FOR SUMMER! Oh how I love being a teacher! Now if I could only get my mind focused on wedding stuff... 4.Remodeling: Recently the FH & I made the decision to take his house off the market & just stay there for the next few years. On Sunday night I mentioned remodeling the bathroom/walk-in closet & kitchen....by Monday night he was tearing down walls! Oh the joys of marrying a contractor! I can't WAIT until he's finished :) 5. Road Trip: Tomorrow we are leaving for Vermont to visit with some of his extended family members. We're staying a week so when we return it will really be crunch time. Cheers for a 16-hour drive! 6. Banquet Event Order: Our reception-site hostess just emailed me the BEO - basically the purchase order for our reception that has every single detail written out. Time to start double-checking all of my requests! 7. Birthday: Oh yeah, I turned 24 (almost forgot how old I was) last month. 8. Wedding Dress: Today we took my dress to my great-aunt to work on the French bustle (where the train is tied under the gown intstead of on the outside. Let's just say I didn't realize how heavy my gown really is until today. 9. Server Set: I just ordered our serving set & toasting flutes from Things Remembered. We went with the Anatasia style. I can't wait until they arrive. 10. Beauty Schedules: Ugh, how I dread organizing these. I've played around a bit with coordinating everyone's appointments (the makeup & hair ladies are setting up at the church) and so far it's not been fun. |

Sneak Peek Bridals
Last weekend I traveled to Nashville, TN for my long-awaited bridal shoot with the AH-MAZING Kristy Belcher & the MAGICAL Joel Green - hair/makeup. She usually does more fashion/pageant/modeling shoots, but they were both fabulous at my bridal shoot! I can't wait to show them off!
I'm so jealous that now I have all of these photos but I can't share them with you just yet. Oh well....only 59 more days to go! |

Wedding Flowers
My Silk Bouquet
This weekend I'm traveling to Nashville for my bridal shoot with my favorite photographer! Yes, I'm cheating on my wedding photographer by using someone else for my bridals. Her name is Kristy Belcher and she does AMAZING work! She did all of my pageant headshots and I knew years ago that someday she would also shoot my bridals.
I started thinking about the shoot and thought that I may want a fake bouquet to hold in some of the photos. I asked my florist if she could make a silk version (or something similar) and I'm so happy with what she's created. It's not exactly what I'll be carrying down the aisle - my real one will have more pink roses and lillies, more white feathers, and less of the white hydrangeas. Ignore the purple flowers in the background of the first photo. Those are leftover from Easter :) |

Mothers' Dresses
Finally Found Them!
For the past few months both my mother and the future MIL (Jody) have been searching endlessly online for their dresses.
Since the bridesmaids are wearing black, my mom had her mind set on a charcoal gray color. She also wanted a very unique style of taffeta or satin...let's just say she likes to make a statement. Jody didn't want to wear beige because it would clash with the black and white, so she was been looking for a dusty-rose pinkish color. Jody wanted the classic flowing chiffon, but really needed good coverage in the bust area. Last week all three of us went shopping together for their dresses. Let's just say finding their dresses was much more difficult than finding my wedding dress! When we found the right colors, the cuts & styles just weren't right; when we finally found the right styles ,the colors were off or they didn't come in the colors they wanted. Yesterday I took my mom to a bridal boutique about 30 minutes away from town & guess who was already there....Jody! Luckily my mom found her dress at the boutique. It's a Mori Lee style that's been discountinued in her specific color, so she had to buy it off the rack (which for me, is a good thing since we're running out of time). Jody found the pink dress online via Macy's and decided to just order it and see what it fits like. When her other son got married last fall, she took a chance and ordered a knock-off dress from one of those Hong Kong websites. She had a really bad experience with it, so it took some convincing for her to order another one online. I think the Macy's dress with look beautiful on her and I can't wait to see it in person! |

Bridesmaids
Spa Party
Last weekend my future sis-in-law held my first bridal party! It was a Bridesmaids' Spa Party featuring facials, pedicures, & make-up by the ladies who will be doing the wedding makeup. We had a blast!
Just wanted to share a few photos. It was a very relaxing way for everyone to mingle! Plus I got to see what everyone's makeup will look like on the big day. |

Wedding Reception
Mock Centerpieces
A few weeks ago we got to visit our reception site and lay out the mock centerpieces. I've been freaking out because I thought I lost the camera since then & didn't get a chance to upload any of the pictures. Luckily, I found the camera this morning!
The damask table square looked much larger than I imagined they would, so we're going to add 4 pink votives to each table to help fill in some space. The Holiday Inn placed some regular votives on the table just so we could have an idea of what it would look like. For the birdcage, you'll have to use your imagination with me. The candles will be unwrapped and lit and there will be a few open roses tucked around the base of the candles (inside the bird cage). Same thing with the votices - imagine 4 pink votives instead of the clear votives. We had a blast with the Holiday Inn that day. They prepared a tasting of our menu options (yummy) and we got to plan out every single detail - from the location of the bar to where the guest book will be placed. Let's just say that our wedding planner was ready to hire me by the end of the day. |

The Invites
Wow! I can't believe we just finished all 180ish of our invitations. They are stuffed, addresses, stamped, and ready to mail out next week. I'm really happy with the way they came together. I ordered the main invitation from The American Wedding and the black pocket folds from MyGatsby. Our local Staples did all of the inserts and it was much cheaper than any other website I found online.
At the last minute the FH decided to add the sticker with the website address & honeymoon info. Kudos to him! I sent out business cards with this info when I mailed the Save the Dates, but several people said they accidently threw it away with the envelope because they didn't realize it was inside. Hopefully they'll see this one! There's a previous post about the envelopes. The FH lined them himself with pink/black damask scrapbook paper. Very cool! |

Family Pew Markers
I knew all along that I would NOT have bows as pew markers. I'm not a big fan of organza or tulle so I was pretty stumped when it came to the pew markers. I didn't really know what I was looking for, but I knew it would be simple.
My mom found these beauties at Micheal's in the spring floral stuff. She removed the light pink ribbon and replaced it with hot pink. I LOVE THEM! C's for my side of the aisle and L's for his side. |

My Feather Clip
Hope it works!
I finally broke down and ordered a feather clip for myself last night. My bridal shoot is April 14, so I knew that I had to order something soon or it wouldn't arrive on time. I ordered the white clip (as soon in the first picture) off Ebay but I'm kind of nervous to see what it actually looks like.
I've had my eye on the oversized feather pouf headband from David's Bridal. I absolutely love it, but when I started to order it I had second thoughts. It's a headband, and I really wanted a clip instead. It's also REALLY big and may cover up too much of my hair. We'll see what the smaller clip looks like - if it's not enough feathers for me (I'm obsessed!) I'll definately order the David's Bridal one for the big day. |

Found the Feathers
Flowergirl's headpiece
I LOVE my flowergirl's headpiece that I found on Ebay. I ordered it from Hong Kong, but I'm really impressed with the quality. Right now it's a clip, but I plan on attaching it to a black headband.
