I can proudly say that all 26 centerpieces are complete! I wanted to mix up the tables so half of the tables will have a black birdcage with damask pink candles & the other half will have the pomander vases that I made. Two of the pomanders are different because I ran out of pink roses. When I ordered another batch from Efavormart, evidently they changed their pink roses to a different style. I actually like the different roses better. I figured that we'll spread the different pomanders on separate sides of the room and no one will even notice (hopefully).
They are beautiful! Great job!!
The same thing happened to me with the flowers. :-/.. I have 5 more centerpieces to make & I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to order one more batch of flowers. I HOPE they aren't tooo different than the ones I have.
Which picture was your second batch of flowers?
The famous Efavormart! They are pretty.
You'll need white styrofoam balls from your craft store. I used 5 inch balls - make sure they're white, not the soft green stuff. Spray paint the balls a color similar to your flowers so the white doesn't peek through the petals. Let dry for several house.
You'll need 40-50 silk flowers for a 5inch ball; plan accordingly. I ordered mine from Efavormart. Pluck or cut the heads off of the stems (leave about 1 inch so you can stick it in the ball).
Think about whether you want the entire ball covered or you want the leave a spot uncovered so it will sit evenly on the vase. I chose the later. To do so, I placed the ball on the vase and traced a circle on the ball exactly where it would touch the rim of the vase. I didn't place any flowers below the line.
Then all you have to do is stick a flower into the ball and pull it out. Your goal is to make a small hole for the hot glue. Squeeze some hot glue into the hole and replace the flower. Hold for a few seconds before placing the next one. I suppose you could just stick them in without gluing, but I felt safer knowing that the flowers are securely attached to the ball.
It's time-consuming, but super easy. Once you make the first ball it will go much faster. Just play around with spacing of the flowers. The closer together you place them, the fuller your ball with look (and the more flowers you'll need to buy).
I bought the vase at the Dollar Tree and decorated it with ribbon. You can fill it with whatever you like, but I chose the black floral marbles that are flat on one side. Read my above responses to learn about the ribbon/monogram button. All I do next is place the ball on the vase. Since I left a blank circle on the ball, it sits nicely and securely. You could glue them down if desired, but I'm keeping my separate so I can sell them afterwards.
Good luck! Hope this helps. Check out my past posts for more pictures of the pomanders.
