The Proposal...Did I propose to him?

So there really wasn't an earth shattering, emotion filled, creative, over the top proposal...Charles and I have been together for almost 6.5 years, we have 2 sons together (5 all together) and basically live as if we are married. I was one to never really care about getting married or having a wedding, until it dawned on me that I deserve it. So one day, I can home from work, on July 28, 2009 and I said to him "I want to get married", he said "Okay...", and I said "Are you serious?"...he said "Yes", and I said "lets set a date then", and he said "okaaaay...", so that is how the proposal or lack of a proposal went. We initially set a date in August of 2010, but once we realized how much everything was going to cost, we decided to not rush it and, so we set our new date to June 30, 2012, no real significance, just that it was a saturday. So there you have it!

I totally understand about the cost of a wedding. I recently got engaged and my fiance and I both agreed that we will have a long engagement so that we can save for our wedding.

lol sounds like my proposal... we were in bed talking about rings i liked and then we decided why dont we just get engaged now...and i was like... really? ok...and then he came over and got one one knee and said..will you marry me... i had to ask if he was serious like ten times... the details are still a little blurry of how it came to be haha, i told him i want a re-do one day

I actually proposed to my FH on a dare from him.  My FH decided to take a job assignment in China, and asked that I come along I agreed but then I asked him what was his plans for marriage. He said to me "well you could always propose to me Karen"  So I got down on 1 knee and asked him to marry me (LOL). In all honestly I was really just playing around, but he said yes and we started talking about what was a good date to have a wedding.
