How early is TOO early?!

I'm kind of stressing out, not because I dont have enough time to get a wedding dress, but because I feel I have too much time!!

My wedding isnt for 18 more months, but I have been looking on kijiji alot lately and I have seen this amazing Maggie Sottero dress, my size and everything for sale! Do i buy it, or do I just wait!?

Am I totally crazy to be looking already? Im afraid I will find another dress I love more and be stuck with two dresses!! Ahhh

How early is too early to buy a dress?! ....Or start looking at them for that matter?!

That is a very heavy question, you are going to get a variety of responses on this one.

My opinion, pick it out within 1 year to 8 months before the wedding.  Have it paid in cash by 6 months before the wedding.

My wedding is in 9/10, I picked out my dress 10/09, paid for it 1/10.

I say about 8 months before because TRUST me I have seen so many girls buy it too early only to fall in love with dresses they see later & they end up with 2 or more dresses...

Personally I'd wait anywhere from 9 months to a year. However, if you find a dress and you know it's the one get it but just make sure you don't look at any others so you don't get second thoughts.

In total our engagement is 17 months and I purchased my dress just shy of being engaged for 1 month.  I love my dress and am not regretting it....the only thing that I regret is not looking lots...I know I would have ended up with my dress, but I only went to one store and I wish I went to more because it's the one time you can go and try on dresses and have fun and have that bridal experience.  If you are sure this is the dress for you and you don't want to look around in lots of stores, I say go for it!!

haha, i asked this too, and seriously, I hated when people told me it was too early, lol. I actually started looking for my dress 18 months ahead of time because I got engaged 2 years (24 months) before my wedding and I was just so excited to try some on and "just see what I liked" well I ended up falling in love, AND it was on sale. I got it last end of winter/beginning of spring so abouuuut 15ish months away from my october 2010 wedding. It was paid off in February :) It just depends. Sometimes I wish I still got to go out and try on dresses, but then I am SO happy with the dress I got. It feels like I've had it waiting forever, but I am just as excited to go and try it on again after all this time. Depends on you, if you think you may try on something else later and fall in love again. I just STOPPED looking after I found mine. I hated being told it was too early, so I'm not going to tell you that. I dont think it's too early, as long as you don't think you'll find something else! :)

I was a year out for from my wedding and I wished that I had waited, I bought the 4th dress i tried on, and I just wish i tried lots more! .. I think around the 9 to 8th month mark is good, also.. the theme of my wedding changed and I had to get my dress altered to suit it as I thought we were having a more formal wedding,so I got something with a bit of a train, then we changed to a garden wedding? so i got the train chopped off.

I think its never to early to start trying them on and get a feel for what cut and style of dress you want, but I wouldn't settle on an actual dress until about a year to 9 months before the wedding!

Hi, I felt the same way as you ladies. My wedding was schedule for Nov.2010, But I opt to change the date until 2012.
I wanted to purchase a home first, then want to be sure I can pay everything out within a two year frame.

I found my dress on ebay and I bought it, It was a perfect fit and for only 91.00 plus 20.00 for shipping just couldn't pass up a great ebay find. So for 111.00 why not. My  dress is new, The dress is a David's Bridal dress for 599.00. I may push my wedding date up If we can continue to pay everything off.
So pray about it, If you don't think you will gain any weight, I say go for it, But just take your dress and get it preserved. That is what I'm going to do?
But the decision is up to you?
