So, when I first went dress shopping, I had a list of requirements:
Not white
Corset back
Not a big list, but that was it. When the first dress was pulled out I thought, "It's perfect." It was champagne colored with ivory lace (I love lace) it has a brown sash (my wedding is brown and green) and I love it! This is my dress.
The problem? I am absolutely in love with another dress as well! I went to a thrift store with my mother (since she's a big bargin shopper) and we found out that the store had bought up all the dresses from a bridal shop that went out of business. I got the second dress for a grand total of $70! It is a Maggie Sottero...just like my other dress; and I paid $1,000 for my first dress. At $70, I couldn't pass it up. When I first put it on, my first thought was, "I feel like Cinderella."
I want advice from you ladies...what should I do? Here is the list of pros and cons I've come up with for each dress.
Dress#1 Pros
I didn't want a white dress and it's champage colored.
It has a pretty brown sash.
It has sparkles throughout the entire dress.
Dress #1 Cons
I found out my FH hates lace dresses. (He says he's got rough hands and it snags at lace.)
It's very heavy.
My mother bought a champagne colored outfit for the wedding, so we'd match. (Which doesn't thrill me.)
Dress #2 Pros
I look good in ivory apparently.
It still has sparkles (the neckline is beaded and the sash across the middle too) but it won't hurt FH hands since the rest is smooth material.
It's lightweight.
The veil actually matches the new dress better.
Dress #2 Cons
I'd have to add a bustle (which means more money) and get it hemmed.
It doesn't have green or brown on it (it's important for one of the wedding colors to be on me.)
You can see the boning at the bust.
I feel so guilty about this. If I wear the new dress then I blew all that money for nothing. My mother was saying that I could wear the new dress for the ceremony and then change into the other dress for the rehearsal dinner (she also suggested shortening it), but the second dress isn't as heavy and is actually more comfortable. However, the first dress will keep me warmer in the outdoor November wedding. I need a vote ladies. I can't figure out what to do. Our flowers are going to be red btw, and people told me it would look better with the second dress. Ladies, let's put it to a vote!
(Oh, ignore the crack in my back. My mother laced it and had me hold it up with my shoulders back for each dress so it created that little line. It didn't do that when the lady at the store laced it. These pics were rushed...and sorry for the mess...two kids, enough said.)
