This past summer I was in two weddings at the same time & both brides had a bridal pot. A bridal pot is where each bridesmaid puts a certain amount a money aside to help pay for the bridal shower & bach party...so instead of paying one lump sum when the event happens there is money already there. I loved the idea so much i'm planning on doing it for my bridal party!!! update: I forgot to mention a couple of things about this process...the women that I chose as my bridesmaid are the same women whose weddings I was in this past summer. I don't see myself bringing this up to people haven't gone through this process. i've added this because of the comments that I read My second question is: What is a good amount to ask my bridal party? How much is too much? I thought about $40 each for 9 months with 6 bridesmaids...I chose this amount because of my exprience as a bridesmaid - we are great budgeters and we still had to cut back some. Each event was beautiful and we made it work with what we had but I want to make sure we have enough and not have to stress about anything. When I ordered my wedding dress a few months ago the sample size fit me really good (size 10) but I ordered a size 12 just in case (it's always easier to take in rather than taking out) & the ower was like you shouldn't be gaining weight for your wedding....but I ordered the 12 anyways. So I went for my first fitting and the size 12 fit like the size 10 did months ago!! PhotobucketI was sooo bummed!!! That was the first sign that I needed to lose weight. the second sign that I need to lose weight!! Then I while I was putting together my bridal party invites I was looking at some of my old pictures and was like MAN I was small!!! I don't want to get that small but DAMN losing a few pounds wouldn't hurt . old chineye with the girls the third sign that I need to lose weight So then I was looking at a picture of myself in my work Halloween costume and once again I was a little bummed. Now don't get me wrong I love my curves but i'm not totally happy with them. Even a few of my old students told me that "...I was smaller last year!!" (boy did I want to punch them!!) I already knew that I needed to lose the weight, but seeing it in pictures really validates it. Ms. Science Teacher a Photobucket I want to lose about 10-15 pounds and I don't have the drive to do it!!! I know my drive should be the wedding, but when I get home from work I'm extremely tired....I am a 7th grade science teacher and my students totally exhaust me....or sometimes I get home late. My FH says that I will have more energy once I start working out, BUT I have to get to the gym. He goes to the gym on a regular but he doesn't have to get up super early like I do so he can go late at night. So not only do i not have the energy to go to the gym, I have a major sweet tooth!!! Auuuggghhh!!! I love the idea of a groom's cake....something that is centered around the groom. What do you think? Sooo my hunny loves the lakers and i think it would be sooo cool to have a lakers themed grooms cake.

He also said i don't see the importance of them and that it's more money being spent on things that people are going to probably throw away or just sit around (i agreed with that one...favors just sitting around because I have favors all over the place). I also asked him about having a candy bar...he said i could care less, but i know the types of things that you like and i know that's what you want. He said how come those couldn't serve as the wedding/reception favor (a friend of mine had both a candy bar and a gift...i guess that was why he was asking)? If we allow the family to bring the two boys then 1) that is more kids at the wedding which means more running around, talking and crying during the cermony and 2) wouldn't that make it okay for the rest of the family to think they can bring their kids? Oh I forgot to mention that the other kids that will be at the wedding will be: HIS DAUGHTER (she will be a junior bridesmaid and will be 9 next year), HIS BROTHER (he will be a junior groomsman and will be 10 or 11 next year), MY NEPHEW(the ringbearer and will be 3 next year), MY COUSIN (flag holder and will be 5) and HIS TWO COUSINS (the flowergirls and will be 9 next year)..so that's like 6 kids already and i was a little weary about that already but i thought is was important for his daughter to be in our wedding (she lives in another state) and having her cousins in there will keep her busy. :O) I brought this up to Rickey, but we really haven't talked about it yet...but i really don't want tons of kids at the wedding and rickey has been very understanding about this(no children at our wedding) so far, but i don't think we thought about the flower girls brothers. I know it's our wedding and what we say is up to us but I don't want to have any problems or for the mother to not want her daughter to be in the wedding because her brothers can't go...(the mother and father aren't together and the kids live with her).
