Budget!
Oh boy... Here We Go!!!
Kevin and I have a lot of planning to do with VERY little money to work with!

Our budget: $2,000 TOTAL!
That's it! I am always confused when I watch wedding shows and the couples end up way over budget. Kevin and I couldn't go over budget if we wanted to, the money just doesn't exist! But, I'm still confident and optimistic...we're going to make this thing work. And it will be STUNNING!

If anyone has any cost saving tips, let me know. They'll be very much appreciated!

ahhh!!!!!
we're like wedding twins!!
I found your comment!! hahahaha....
anyways--cost saving tips--are you a crafter by any means? DIY might save bundles--we're doing our own invites, I'm making my grooms and best man's ties, I'm buying flowers and arranging them myself, my friend is doing the cake, I'm making the favors and we'll probably have an iPod or just CD's for the music!

Let's keep sharing ideas!!

We have a pretty small budget too.... Let me see  what we do to cut the costs...

If you go to Costco you can buy a pretty good variety of flowers in bulk for a decent cost (callla lillies, white roses, gerber daisys)
I also have heard that a trend lately has been the bride or bridesmaids carrying one flower down the isle too. Also gorcery stores can give you a decent price on their flowers sometimes or will actually give you rose petals they take off their arrangments.

Also I know that parks around here in WA can be rented for like $16 a day, but I get what you mean about it being public and all.
The good thing about having a wedding outside is that it takes less decorating...

We decided on renting out a nice community center on a beautiful park on a lake. We decided to have our wedding date on a Thursday instead so it was less, but still a beautiful location for HALF the price!

We are making our own food and I haven't decided yet what, but sandwiches are cheap to make. What my friends have done in the past is just a dessert bar... All the sweets you want. ;0)

We are cutting the cost of the cake by going to bakeries we like and buying 3-4 regular pretty white cakes we like and arranging them on tiers with flower petals, flowers and our cake topper. As soon as you put the word wedding on a cake- people will charge up the rear.

I know pictures are the most important part, but we are looking around for friends or people that have experience in photography that aren't in the business of it and can do it for a decent price.

We are also just hooking up an ipod to a sound system and having someone monitor it.

Ask around your friends and parents friends that have useful skills that would be willing to help out on your wedding day. Like my mom's friend is a floral arranger and she was ecstatic to help out with the flowers and everything!

I hope this helps because I am always looking for a better price on things!

I completely understand having a tight budget!
I recommend using blue hydrangea centerpieces.
You can usually get them at the grocery  for 7 or 8 dollars for a bunch. they make a cute and simple (important if you doing them yourself) centerpiece!! I also bought my vases at the dollar store...$1!  Good luck!

I suggest cutting out things you absolutely don't need. Favors, personalized items, expensive bridal party gifts. Having a small bridal party will also save costs. I know david's bridal was or is still having their $99 sale. I believe they have it at the same time every year.

Try the website orientaltrading.com. A friend of mine used it when planning her wedding on a tight budget and came out with some gems.

yeah, i know what you are talking about...we have a small budget to work with also.... We are cutting  the cost by having people we know participate in our upcoming wedding. My grandpa is playing the guitar for the ceremony, my uncle who is an amazing singer will sing..My best friend's grandpa is a pastor so he will do it for free. My other uncle will be our photographer... I think we lucked out on alot of stuff...
try buying alot of stuff when there are sales...or half prices on the internet.. or you can make your own flowers instead of buying real ones..You can also buy a small wedding cake to cut, but pass out sheet cake in the same flavor. which is cheaper.

I don't know if you've already made plans for the cake but cupcakes as I'm sure you've heard are a lot cheaper than cake and those would be VERY easy to make yourself and those would go well, I would think, with your tea reception. I was looking online a couple weeks ago and you can find a tower stand for cupcakes at target as well as many other places, I'm sure.
