Wedding Reception
I have a plan!!

I love tea.

That being said, I've decided to make it the theme of my reception. It's going to be a tea party!

Since I'm on an insanely small budget, I'm going to buy different kinds of tea bags (black, green, roobios, white, etc.) and have a selection at every table. Guests can pick which kind they want. ( I originally wanted loose-leaf, but this is out of my price range.)

Instead of a traditional centerpiece, I will have a cute tea pot full of hot water at each table. Though, I haven't figured out how to replenish it once it's empty. I may have to "hire" someone (erg..find someone who will do it for free.)

Each table with have a different style tea pot and little tea cups. I purposely want them mis-matched...and plan to buy them at little cost at thrift stores, garage sales, and Goodwill. They always have an eclectic selection of tea cups and pots. This way, each table will be different.

Aside from the tea, we'll have some finger sandwiches, pastries, fruit, coffee, juice, and maybe some beer/wine at a buffet.

Not to give you the wrong idea...this isn't a la-di-da tea party...it's a southern/country mid-morning family tea party. Everyone just gets together to chat and catch up on old times.

I'm hoping for a reception full of laughter and memories.

Now for my question: Is this idea stupid?! Have you seen this sort of thing done before?

Not stupid at all. I actually LOVE this idea. I love tea as well and would love to do something similar for my shower. Even on a small budget this is something that can totally look upscale and chic. I would keep everything minimal with a country feel, cherry blossom branches would be lovely as decor.

oh marta...it's daffodils...not cherry blossoms. ;-)

i'm finally getting excited about the wedding again.

I also love, love, love, love this idea! You have a lot of time to just hit supermarkets when they have sales on teas and you can save coupons for them too!
I wish I actually drank tea--my sister, the one who's not so close to me, always gives me tea on Christmas!

yes i love the idea of bistro tables!! the lady that is doing my flowers is also doing all the decorating at the reception and she came up with this idea!! i love it!! steal it from me!!! haha!!! we're gonna have either 8 or 10 of the tall bistro tables! and maybe a few shorter ones with chairs for the kids and older people there. and where our reception is theres a big fountain and benches around it so i thought it would be very pretty!!!!

Okay, so we're going to share ideas. Definately. Might I add, I loooooove your venue! So pretty.

I'm going to hit up the flea markets and the Goodwill as soon as I can to start piecing together the tea cups and pots.

If I happen to find enough cheap tea cups, I might put some seeds in some soil in them and hand those out as favours.

I REALLY like your idea. So are you going to be making the finger sandwiches and other goodies yourself with the help with family and friends? How many people are you having at your reception?
