What do you think? Will this colour scheme work with the peacock?

Bridesmaids
Bridesmaid and Groom Gifts
Ok Ladies, Brainstorming time! I am in the final weeks before my wedding and I still need to get gifts for my brides maids and a gift for my FH. FH will be taking care of his groomsman on his dime. I have been looking on ebay for swarovski crystal earrings or bracelets and also I was going to give them a gift certificate to the spa. I really believe that should be good enough because of the tight budget and their non-activity in the wedding planning thus far. (Yea Im being a little mean). Also I am not in the same city as they are anymore, so I may not be able to just treat them to a spa date at one time, it is hard getting them all together.
As for as the FH, I am just not sure. He is a very complicated man to buy for. He is very technologically savvy and also a very nice dresser. Ever since watching "Kim and Kourtney K in New York" episode with Scott toting a "walking stick" around, now he wants one! Honestly, I just can't see a 6'4 black man walking around with one unless you live in London, and you are a private detective LOL. But anyway this and also an ascot (a big formal tie) is what gets him excited. Again he is a very snazzy dresser when he gets cleaned up, but I am just not sure. I need some ideas for both the bridesmaids and my baby, thanks y'all! |

I NEED IDEAS ASAP!!!
Ok my bridal sisters, I need some help and Im talking Charlie Sheen help LOL! Ok let me hit you with the good news 1st... I received my dress last week Yay!!
Bad news, it is way too big, boo!! I ordered my dress from ybridal.com and the measurements were off big time. Now you know that when you order dresses to be made that normally they are coming from China. Well on the website, I followed their size chart after my measurements were taking and from their chart it put me in a size 22W. I am a 14-16 at the most in US sizes. Well I did not want to not follow their size chart so I ordered the 22W, thinking that their sizes normally run smaller, so maybe I am a size 22W in China. Who Knew!! The dress literally fell off of me. Not the end of the world, but I have 46 days until my wedding, so now I am in the works of finding a great seamstress in Chicago, ugh! Good news- I have survived my 1st day in the big city of Chicago and my new job, which I am falling in love with. Bad News- It is bittersweet though because my babies- Fiance and daughter and dog are still in St Louis for a few weeks. So I have to rough it here alone. I miss them sorely :( Good news- OK you all know I have been doing the whole DIY-"I'm every woman" (In my best Chaka Khan voice) thing. I have made the bouquets, the boutineers, I am cooking and baking and decorating and may have to make my own dress-Just kidding. Bad News- Now I am stuck, I have no more ideas running thru my head right now. So this is where you lovely ladies coming in. A few posts ago, I posted that I made the centerpiece vases with little money, but now I need to know what I should put in them. I want to make it a tall centerpiece with a flower ball at the top, but I'm not sure how it will look. Also I bought some christmas ornaments for a few cents and I would like to incorporate them in the decor as well. Most of them are fuschia and purple and gold. Someone posted a pic of peacock feathers in the ornaments, which I copied, but the others are odd shaped like ovals and hearts. I appreciate your help! |

I forgot to share it with my webfriends at WBC! Anyway-because I am still waiting on the digtal pictures, I am posting pictures taken with my Iphone. I will probably repost with clearer pics soon. We took the pictures in the Missouri Botannical Gardens in November. So of course we captured some really beautiful colors. Please let me know what you think.

DIY Centerpieces and Flowers
Ok WBC, I am very new to the DIY wedding world, but I have to say that I have been taking to it like a fish to water. I normally have only gone as far as to decorate my home. Now after seeing my decor for the wedding, it is actually not a very big departure from my style in home decor.
I am very proud to say that the Goodwill and other thrift stores have been my main source of findings. I have bought 12 vases for about .50 a piece and spray painted them and they are gorgeous. So I would suggest any bride that does not have a lot of money to shop at some second hand stores before going to the retail stores. There are so many treasures awaiting you! |

"Passion and the Peacock"
Ok from my previous post and pictures, you can tell that my wedding is going to be colorful, but also I want it to be bohemian with alittle old world charm. Seems like a lot but its all in the details. Right now I'm having issues trying to find what kind of centerpieces I should do for the reception hall. I think I want to incorporate ballons in the hall, but also I still have a lot of colorful flowers. In the hall I can not hang anything from the ceiling, so I was going to make something tall to draw attention upward. I uploaded some more pictures of the bouquets, guest book and flower basket, that I made. Also I added some pictures of some ideas. Tell me what you think. Also keep in mind, I'm on a budget... Thanks WBC!!

Wedding Favors
Started on wedding flowers!
I have been stressing for the past month because my wedding is so close-April 30th and much of the detailed things had not been done or created yet. Well Ladies I am not going to stress anymore, I have given my problems to God to solve. Since I did that, honestly I feel lighter like a load has been lifted off me. Today I purchased my flowers from a local dollar store (Gasp!) and actually got a discount of them. The colors are gorgeous, pictures won't even do them justice. I sat on the floor and all my informal training from my mom came back to me. I used to help her create floral arrangements when she would do interior designing. And I must say that they turned out great. I could not have had anyone else make them any better and if they did it would have cost me hundreds of dollars. Well I only spent $50.;) I have created both my toss and wedding bouquets and the bridesmaids too, without using a 1/4 of the flowers bought. So of course I will have some rocking centerpieces as well. I still have a little touching up to do, but I am very proud of myself because now I can see my wedding starting to take form.

DIY Wedding
To be a bride or not to be...Im going crazy!
Honestly I don't think I have been the best bride or bridezilla I could be, I have been lackadaisical, when it comes to planning the wedding. I mean we got the main things under control and paid for, like the church, videographer, music, venue for reception, and honeymoon. But it seems I have really been slacking on the details of the ceremony and reception, my dress and my bm's dresses. We have a very tight budget (girdle tight-LOL) and I have less than 3 months to pull this thing off and I just pray I can.
I work alot and have a pretty demanding job at times and when Im working, there is no real time to time to think of anything but work. Also we are in the process of relocating to Chicago before the wedding, so I have more added stress than I wanted to take on. Thank God I have found a job there already that doesn't start until March. So now we are planning a wedding in St Louis, finding jobs and a house in Chicago, we are both pursuing degrees and I am studing for my Illinios broker's license and have a inquisitive 10 year old daughter to take care of. I agree with my FH that I need to leave my worries in God's hands, but it is hard sometimes because I don't want it to be a crappy wedding because I could have done something better or may have left out important details. This wedding is becoming my biggest DIY project. I am very creative but for some reason my brain is drawing blanks. I have change my theme from tropical to peacock and I need inexpensive ideas for centerpieces, cupcakes, decor and favours for the guest and possibly some form of entertainment. I welcome any ideas right now and also if you can give websites to find items that will help, thanks WBC for letting me rant. :) |

The Proposal
He Propsed and of course I said Sure Why Not!
Im late posting this, but because Im new to the site, I wanted to give guests to my blog a brief intro to our courtship. My FH and I met on a social website around Aug 2009, from that day forward we knew we were destined to be together. Our 1st convo was over 4 hours long and I remember telling him, that I was going to marry him and wished I would have meet him sooner. Even the 1st date was the bomb! We hit a couple of night clubs and went crazy on the dance floor. You would have thought that we had been dating for years; our chemistry was just that good. Afterwards we both deleted our profiles off the site and its been heaven ever since.
One day in April of 2010, we were just browing around a jewelry store in the mall and he wanted me to try on rings. Of course I was excited, but because of how new our relationship was I did not want to get my hopes too high. I found the perfect engagement/wedding ring that day, and was so sad to give it back to the sales person :(. Little did I know, about a month later, my FH went back into the store and purchased not only my engagement ring, he also purchased the wedding band and his wedding band as well. He confessed after he proposed that he would sometimes open the ring box and just stare in awe at the rings. On August 13, 2010, I came over to his home to spend the weekend and when we were eating dinner, he excused himself and got the ring. I was still eating dinner when he came back and got on one knee, took my hand and asked me to marry him. I spat out my food so quickly, we just had to laugh at my expression, then of course I said yes! And no I did not finish dinner that night!. LOL It has been truly a blessing to find a man that makes me feel good, he gives me confidence and completes me. He has been not only my best friend, but my biggest cheerleader and soul/helpmate and the best dad that God could have put on this earth. Thanks for letting me share my story and I will be posting some ideas for my wedding of a lifetime soon! |
