We’ve all either witnessed it or been a victim ourselves, the UGLY BRIDESMAID DRESS! It doesn’t matter what your body type is, how cute your air is or how flawless your makeup is, nothing will help this dress!
Mine was in my dad’s wedding to my stepmom. I was 16-years-old and at an age where fashion is everything, this was easily the most mortifying time I had ever experienced up to that point in my life. I was in front of all my family and especially my cousins that were my age…frolicking around in the disaster. It was a lacy, light pink, ankle length dress. The neckline was high up like a regular t-shirt and it even has short sleeves. The dress even had the worst accessories possible (keep in mind this was late 2001)…SHOULDER PADS! AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hated this dress so much, I even broke the bridesmaid code and took it off at the reception. It was so awful and the lace was so itchy, I just couldn’t bear to wear it a second longer. I know, I’m terrible.
So that brings me to my question: What is the worst bridesmaid dress you have ever had to wear? Or- what’s the worst you’ve ever seen at a wedding?
the brides who made them wear those dresses.... were turds.
It was the most hideous thing I think I've ever worn... especially on stage in front of an auditorium FULL of people for 3 nights straight! lmao. It was cotton candy pink taffeta with big puffy elbow length sleeves that were elastic at the bottom with a ruffle around them. A huge ruffle that went around the off the shoulder neckline, as well as numerous ruffles around the hem of the skirt. I opted not to wear the crinoline with it because the crinny was lilac and quite possibly one of the biggest hoop skirts I think I've ever seen! I know 80's fashion was bad, but I really do wonder what my cousin was thinking when she picked the BM dresses.
Dress #1 was actually similar to the gold 1s in the pic above, but my dress was peach....yes PEACH...ugh
Dress #2 was actually pretty (and not peach). But, it was so tight...and uncomfortable, after an almost 2 hour long ceremony, I had to leave before we had dinner at the reception or I would have literally passed out.
I couldn't sit down in it without hiking the material up to loosen it. I had to unzip the dress and completely remove it (and be completely NAKED) just to go to the bathroom! Imagine walking down the aisle in this number. Or sit (and stand and sit and stand) through a catholic wedding. AHHHHH!!!!!
I had once been part of an Easter Break daycamp at our church, and I had been asked to dress up and play the role of a princess. So, somehow they found a bright pink, poufey-sleaved, floor length dress that came straight from the '80s.
I don't think it helped that it was THAT easter Monday that E. had proposed to me. So, everyone was taking pics of me in the costume and making wedding comments. ...
Fun times.
her BM dresses on the other hand wow she is lucky they agreed to wear them!
They were bright yellow kinda like your forth picture but picture them with long sleeves, gloves, hat and white witch shoes! OMG and the poodle perms lmao but apparently that was the "style" back than lol poor girls
Her sister fortunately said "If we have to wear those i aint in the wedding!" So after that the bride picked pink flowy dresses that were 100% better!!!
