The Head Table
A set up to make your bridal party feel more comfortable!
By a show of hands, how many of you have been to a wedding where you're stuck at a table by yourself with a bunch of people you've never met because your significant other is in the Bridal Party? ME! It's so awkward and uncomfortable!
I decided I didn't want to do that to my dear friends. I refuse! But I also felt like I was missing out on something not having my Maid of Honor sitting next to me. We aren't doing a Sweetheart table because the reception venue really doesn't have the set up for it. So we decided on the perfect alternative (or compromise if you will). We will have our Maid of Honor and Best Man seated on either side of us, and sitting next to them will be their significant others. There will only be the six of us at the head table. The rest of the bridal party will be seated at tables together along with their dates. I thought we were doing something really nice for our friends, but I didn't realize just how much they all appreciated it! They said that it made them look forward to our wedding that much more and they appreciated that we considered their feelings and comfort. So if any of you are trying to decide on your head table set up, this is such a great option! Happy Planning! |

Your Groom:
How Many of you think he will tear up?
I know it's cliché to say it, but my favorite thing at a wedding is seeing the grooms reaction whent he bride walks down the aisle. You can see the emotion all over his face. He's nervous and excited and he can't even begin to hide it.
It's only happened at a few weddings I have been to, but I can't handle it when the groom tears up. Don't get me wrong, it's not that it's funny. There's just something about a man crying that makes me tear up. They are so often unemotional and they seem to strong, so when one breaks down...I can't help myself, I guess I think it's beautiful. I know my groom will cry. I know this because he's told me. I will be faced with two very important men in my life that don't show emotion like that too terribly often and I know they will both be a wreck; my groom and my daddy. So ladies, how many of you think you're going to have an emotional groom on your hands? If he cries. is that the end for you (or your makeup that is)? |

Rehearsal Dinner
Goodie Bags for the Kids
I have picked up some items for the kids at our rehearsal dinner. There will be less than 10 of them and I wanted to make sure that they stay entertained and allow their parents to mingle and have fun.
Each child will get a bag full of goodies. For the boys I have gotten small packs of Legos. These ran me $3.49 each, so it really wasn't that bad. Each girl will get something similar, probably a Littlest Petshop or Polly Pocket goodie. I also found these rub off Sponge Bob coloring kits for $1.00 each at Michaels. Sponge Bob is HUGE right now for kids, so I figure they'll like that. The restaurant also has placemats that have games and puzzles on them and each child will get their own set of crayons. I'm still trying to come up with a few more things... |

Ask a Question
What's the worst bridesmaid dress you've ever had to wear?
Weve all either witnessed it or been a victim ourselves, the UGLY BRIDESMAID DRESS! It doesnt matter what your body type is, how cute your air is or how flawless your makeup is, nothing will help this dress!
Mine was in my dads wedding to my stepmom. I was 16-years-old and at an age where fashion is everything, this was easily the most mortifying time I had ever experienced up to that point in my life. I was in front of all my family and especially my cousins that were my age frolicking around in the disaster. It was a lacy, light pink, ankle length dress. The neckline was high up like a regular t-shirt and it even has short sleeves. The dress even had the worst accessories possible (keep in mind this was late 2001) SHOULDER PADS! AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hated this dress so much, I even broke the bridesmaid code and took it off at the reception. It was so awful and the lace was so itchy, I just couldnt bear to wear it a second longer. I know, Im terrible. So that brings me to my question: What is the worst bridesmaid dress you have ever had to wear? Or- whats the worst youve ever seen at a wedding? |

Rehearsal Dinner
Finished the Centerpiece Vases!
I know that this isn't the most creative DIY project, but it was easy and clean and I love the way it turned out!
I just bought 6 large cylinder vases and used two different types of ribbon and hot glued them on there. It fits with my damask theme for the reception and it was cheap! I will fill these babies with green apples and they will be surrounded by votive candles! I'm in love! |

Ask a Question
Clergy performing Marriage in another country?
Brian's Uncle Bob is a pastor and is a super awesome guy. We called him over thanksgiving weekend and asked him if he'd perform our ceremony and he said yes. We are so excited to have a member of the family, someone we trust and loves us, perform our marriage.
Problem - He is based out of Canada and we are here in the US. I've tried to look up what we have to go through so he can perform a ceremony legally in Ohio, but I can't find anything! I know we can just go sign the marriage license before at the JOP, but we really don't want to do that. Anyone know of any websites or dealt with this problem before???? |

DIY Wedding
Flower Girl Bags - DONE!
I am very proud of this...only because I did this all by myself and I didn't even steal the idea from anyone! :-)
I was in Hobby Lobby about 2-3 months ago and saw these cute little pink bags. I was originally going to pay like $20.00 for each bag, but this looked like such a fun project and was going to put me in WAY under budget, so why not???? I used a rhinestone iron on detail that is a tiara. Let me just say, it look A LOT easier that it is! It's a pain to get all those little rhinestones to stick! Some of them I just gave up on. The pair or teardrop shaped ones didn't want to stick to the material. I have three bags altogether and one of them doesn't even have any of those rhinestones on there. It look me about 30 minutes for each bag! And a lot of swear words, too. If you're considering this task...make sure you have a crappy t-shirt on hand and use that to iron over top of the decal. It says to stick it to the bag and then turn the bag over and iron there, but you'll want to iron the front too. And pull it off in sections. It doesn't come off clean. I used scissors to cut away the plastic as it came off, if you let the plastic fall back onto the rhinestones, it'll just re-stick to them and you'll go nowhere fast! I also white iron on letters to show which bag belonged to which girl. I'm really glad I took on this project! I like the way they turned out, flaws and all. |

Ask a Question
What are you Thankful for?
I know it's a few days after Thanksgiving here in the US...but my Fiance's family got me thinking. They are from Canada and they have a whole different spin on Thanksgiving. All day we came up with things we are thankful for.
This was a great change since lately I've been kind of sulking around. I'm still bummed from being laid off and I feel the cost of this wedding slowly strangling me. But this one day put it all in perspective for me... So here I go: I am thankful for having such a loving and supportive man to share the rest of my life with. He has taught me that "for better or for worse" really is more than just spoken words, it is a promise that we will both live up to. I am thankful that all of my family is healthy and happy. This honestly is a new year for a lot of people I love. New jobs, new loves, new lives! I am thankful that I have a roof over my head and that we can afford to not only pay a mortgage for a house we aren't even living in (and trying to sell) but we can also afford to rent a house in a great area of Cincinnati. I am thankful that we are one of the few people that won't lose $50,000+ trying to sell a house right now. I am thankful that all my fuzzy children are safe, healthy and happy. And I am thankful that in October of 2009 I will be marrying the man of my dreams and will be surrounded by all my loved ones that have made a special trip just to spend that day with me!!! Is there anything that you feel especially thankful for???? |

Vows:
What type of vows are you going with?
This is one part of my wedding that I can't believe I haven't given much thought to. I mean, I know it's not as fun as finding a wedding dress or as exciting as picking out flower...but it's still one of the most important parts of my...OUR weddings. These are the vows that we are reciting to the men we love, the men that we are spending the rest of our lives with.
With that, I am torn...what vows are we going to recite. There seem to be three different avenues I can take; a more modern vow such as a hand ceremony or one listed on my previous post, a more traditional one or we can write our vows. The traditional ones seem to be very romantic to me. They are the vows that we've heard many bride and grooms recite. They almost seem to be apart of history...and I know that I spent most of my childhood dreaming about reciting the. My personal favorite is this one: I, ______ take you, ______ to be my husband/wife, to love and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, and to be faithful to you as long as we both shall live. On the other hand...it might be nice for our guests to hear different vows that really make them listen and think about the words we are saying. Also, we can tweak them so that they really fit us. So the modern ones are somewhat appealing. Last but not least, there is the option of writing our own vows. I love how personal and meaningful this option is. I do not love, however, the possibility (STRONG possibility) that I will ball my eyes out while Brian recites his. I really don't want to cry my makeup off or look like I've been socked in the eyes. So tell me, Ladies, what are you doing? Traditional, Modern or Personal Vows?????? |
