Ask a Question
Destination wedding or what
I am from nj and i live here in nc for 11 years. My husband is a country boy from nc. We got married in feb 2008 and I am planning my renewal of vows ceremony. Well I am having a very difficult time figuring out where i want my ceremony. We never had a honeymoon being that we were in classes. I was wondering should I have a renewal of vows in jamacia or hawaii and have a well needed honeymoon at the same location, or just have my black tie affair here in nc or go to nj, and a seperate vacation/honeymoon.

I think it will be cheaper in the long run to have the renewal of vows and the honeymoon at the same location. I still dont want to do this until 2012 since we will be both graduating by then. Plus my son will be off in college by then.

So many decisions and the time is going to go by quickly.

I guess it all comes down to who you want to witness your vow renewal. If you want all your closest family and friends to be there, a black tie affair at home would be best unless you have the financial resources to pay for everyone to fly to Jamaica or Hawaii. My friend had a destination wedding and it was only her immediate family who could go. Also, if you have elderly relative who may have difficulties travelling that you would like to have at your ceremony, it would be better to have it here.

Having said all that, if money is not a problem, and nobody will have trouble travelling, go for the destination wedding. The packages you can get will save you a fortune. My friend's wedding cost like 4000 plus the dress plus invites, but that was it, really.

Good luck on your decision!

If you decide on a destination wedding, Jamaica will save you more money than Hawaii will.  If you go to Jamaica you can have your renewal and honeymoon at an all inclusive resort, in Hawaii they do not have all inclusive resorts, so every little thing has to be paid for seperately.  Hawaii is a BEAUTIFUL place to vacation but compared to an all inclusive, costs an arm and a leg, and is more work because you have to carry money with you everywhere to pay for everything.
Good luck with your planning.
P.S.> if you do decide to go to Hawaii I can recommend some nice hotels, etc. to you from when I went.

My suggestion would be to rent a nice hall and decorate it with some beautiful flowers and folding chairs and stand under an arch while you renew your vows, it is more personal and  each person in their seat knows you invited them with great care to share this moment.this is also realatively inexpensive.I dont know if you guys get snow in february but if you dont i would suggest having it in your favorite park or even in a barn if you have one available to you. Then jet off to your honeymoon. the honeymoon is time for you and your husband to spend together, renewing your vows at a destination is fine but you have to keep in mind that some peoples feelings might be hurt if they arent invited, your guests may not be able to afford it, and do you really want all your guests with you on your honeymoon?  probably not.
