Marriage Preparation
Engagement Retreat Weekend
Since I'm finally getting around to updating my blog, I just wanted to write about the experience my FH and I had at our engagement retreat 2 weekends ago. As a requirement of our church's marriage policy, we had to attend some form of marriage preparation. We decided to attend a weekend retreat for engaged couples. During the course of the weekend, two married couple spoke to us about various topics related to marriage. The topics included things such as decision making, conflict resolution, finances, family planning, and future expectations. After the couple presented a personal story relating to the topic they gave advice about how various issue could be addressed in a constructive manner in our marriage. We then separate and wrote our thoughts prompted by questions in journals we were given relating to the topics. After an allotted journaling time, we reunited with our fiance and were given time to sit alone an discuss what we had wrote. The weekend taught us so much! I know that we grew closer to one another, and we view our wedding as more than just a big one day extravaganza, but as the day that marks the beginning of our entrance into a sacred bond! I would highly recommend marriage retreats or preparation classes to anyone who is planning to walk down the aisle!!!

Wedding Decoration
Head Table
This weekend I finally had some down time to play around with wedding decor again. YAAAAYYYY!!!! I decided to piece together some of the items I bought for the head table. The table will be extremely long, much longer than my mom's kitchen table, but this is the basic idea. Im definitely gonna add stuff, 1 thing will be white roses across the table, maybe crystal draped places, and a large "G" hanging in the middle of the table. WORK IN PROGRESS!!!

The other day my FH asked an interesting question. So ur shoues have bling? And the surprising answer was no. I have found a cute, simple pair of lulu townsend shoes at dsw. At that moment i realized they needed a little sprucing up! Got pins from michaels that also fit onto our diamonds n pearls accent theme!

Wedding Ceremony
The most important task completed!!!
While it is easy to get caught up in all the fabulous details of the big day, the central and most sacred part of the whole wedding experience is definitely the ceremony. After several night mares of not beong able to get our wedding date cleared with the church, I can breath a huuuge sigh of relief now that the church is booked and our ceremony is officially on the church calendar!!! The priest even stood us face to face on the alter and said, "take it all in this is where I will marry you"!! May 18 I will marry the love of my life!!! And as fate would have it we are getting married on Pentecost weekend so the church draping seen in the photo in green here will be red and white,,, our wedding colors. Maybe its a sign that it was all meant to be. Thank you Jesus!!! Amen. Relief!!!!

Wedding Decoration
Latest DIY underway...
Recently Ive seen alot of photo display inspirations. Fh and I decided to incorporate several pics and frames into the decor. Of course we wanted blinged frames!!! Couldnt find any resonably priced ones. Since we need quite a few and we are true DIYers we of course decided to add this to the DIY list. We got plain old frames from hobby lobby and got a huge pack of crystals. I will also add a small red floral accent!!! One down 13 to go!!!

No candles?? No problem!!
Hello fellow brides!!! Please disregard the state of my room in the picture last night was a serious crafting session :-) As stated in my previous post, I am a candle fanatic. Luckily my venue allows candles, but I still chose to go the LED route for some centerpieces for safety reasons. I have ran across some brides who were in a dilemma due to candle bans at certain venues. Well fear not!!! While on my weekly wedding/craft store rendezvous I ran across these treasures. LED taper candles. Im sure everyone has ran across the LED tealights, these offer another option for candle banishes brides!!! Got 8 of these to place in the candle abras I found at a discount homegoods store. These will be placed on the head table scape!! Good day!!!

The vision Updated!!
FH and I both love Red. So the colors were a no brainer!!! They will be deep red and ivory. He loves Diamonds and I love pearls, so there will be lots of BLING and pearl details throughout the wedding. I also want to use lots of candles, rose petals and soft lighting to create a romantic ambiance.
Our reception venue is a large ballroom that has 2 rooms. There is an entrance room that we will use as a WELCOME TO THE WEDDING room. We will decorate it with flowers and bling of course and set up photos of us and possibly other family members wedding photos, our card box, a slide show projected onto a screen etc.... Then there is the main ballroom...... where all the magic will happen. To create the candle lit feel, I scored 100 LED tealights for $20!!! My wedding planner also has votive candles that she will set up. I want candles EVERYWHERE!!!! After christmas I'm hoping to find some christmas lights on clearance to recreate the lighted cake table! For the ceremony I want the aisle to already be set up when guest enter the church. We secured our wedding date at my childhood church this weekend. It has high ceilings and a super long aisle. So a gorgeous aisle runner was a must. FH and I completed the painted monogram on our aisle runner this weekend. I plan to add petals to it soon!! We also got tulle to be draped on each side of pews. The possibilities for decor are endless, however the budget is not lol. Still brainstorming and creating.... |

Wedding Photography
Engagements!!!
Engagement samples are in!!! I am soooo excited. Even though we stayed on a strict budget in many areas, photography was an area i was willing to splurge in. Many people stress over engagement sessions. I was one of those ppl lol. The key is to relax, have fun, and trust your photographers. We had an awesome time shooting and will cherish these pics forever. :-)
