cake table and hanging crystals

This will be the table cloth and topper for my daughters cake table. We are going to use the hanging crystals with the hydrangea's on them to hang above the table. (I have them hanging on hangers in a closet to store them so they are doubled in the picture)There are 3 long ones and 3 short ones and they were a breeze to make. I made the damask topper and sewed the corner crystals, actually acrylic crystals shhhh :) to give the topper a little more flare and to bring in the bling element :)

all of it is gorgeous. Can you tell me where to find huge crystals that hang like that? We are making a crystal tree and all we can find are the small crystals that hang at the end of the crystal strand... but if we had huge ones like those with your hydrangeas, we'd be so happy : ) Very beautiful!

Thank you all for your wonderful comments.  The large crystals are actually ornaments!  I am always looking at things "outside of the box" and when I saw those ornaments I new I could use them for something else.  Ornaments are usually less expensive and they have all kinds of themes and you can get a lot of them at a time.  I think I paid $2.25  for them.  But if I had tried to find large crystals I probably would of paid double if not triple that price.  Bling has been big in Christmas ornaments the last couple of years, so don't pass up that aisle of ornaments, you may never know what you might come across to use!

I was looking at all the DIY projects you are doing and they are amazing! You are inspiring me for my wedding! I am having a damask wedding wedding as well, but my colors are apple green, black and white. I am having difficulty finding damask fabric where  l live, which is in Canada. Did you find it online? Could you steer me in the right direction? Thanks so much.

Katherine.

We have been looking for ideas on how to decorate the wedding cake table and this is wonderful.  My daughter is using the damask print in her decor too, but the accent color is fuchsia.  We have the printed material and ribbon already, we just need the black table cloth now.  Can you give the dimensions of the table you used and the dimensions of the topper?  Any special sewing instructions?  My daughter really likes this!

Hi Carla, the cake table I think is either a 30" or a 36" round.  The damask fabric I got from 800fabrics.com.  The sewing was very simple, I just stiched the ribbon continusley to all four sides of the fabric.  But cut the ribbon a little longer than the fabric, I would say about 3" longer.   Sew the two ribbon edges together.  I sewed the ribbon on to the whole piece of fabric almost 3/4 of the way around, and then made sure the ribbon was long enough, and then sewed the two ribbons end together and then went back and finished sewing the rest of the ribbon on the fabric.    I can't say these are the best instructions!  I am more of doer than a teacher... sorry about that.  The table topper is 60" square.  Good Luck!

I love this idea! I'm going to use it for my beach wedding! One question... how did you attach the flowers to the beads?

thannks

Hi there,
I just came across your page on here and I absolutely love all the details you did on the DIY's, great job!

I was wondering if you could tell me how to make the pomander/crystal you used for your daughters cake table? Where did you buy the flowers from?

Thanks!
Alexis
