DIY Wedding
I only have 5 days!!!
I only have 5 days and I am taking a quick break from the marathon of making 100 carmel apple favour, last minute guest messing up my seating plan, family arriving and risk thunderstorm warnings on my wedding day to simply say
I JUST CAN'T WAIT!!! I feel as if I have been planning forever, I have done so much by hand, part of me can't wait to get to the other side of it and leave the vendor, planning, bridesmaid drama (and there has been lots!) behind me. I know I have a busy, crazy, down right insane week ahead of me, but I really just can't wait to put on my dress, walk down the aisle and marry the boy I met almost 7 years ago. I know it will be a blur and that things will go wrong, but right now,as I'm finishing all the details I planned for the quest to enjoy...I really just don't care about anything but getting to Sunday and getting to him! |

ComicBook Wedding Program on
So the layouts are done and I found a printing company and it'll be to them if the zip files ever load! I commissioned one of the student's at the art school I teach at to do the cover and I did the rest in a program called Comic Life then did the layout in Photoshop.
It's the story of us, and for the back cover I found dachshund numbers and so I put our date in them. Our little dachshund Dinah is not allowed to come:( |

Engagement
Engagement photos are up!
Though it seemed silly to do them so close to the wedding it also seemed silly not to do them since they were included in the package, plus it gave me the feel of my photographer. The results are Great! As a plus size bride I can't say I love how my legs look in every photo, but I love that she was able to capture the vintage feel of what I was looking for. The local is a burger place that's in the middle of nowhere that took an old TTC subway car and uses it as seating for there restaurant. These are a few of my favourites the rest are up on my photographers blog:

Wedding Rings And Jewelry
How I am Honoring my Grandma
In a previous post I mentioned that I had some one make my jewlery, They did a wonderful job and attemped to help me fix my Great Grandma's earings but was not able to weld the back on, she was able however to cut off the old clip on back and file that down and switch out the pearl so it would better fit my outfit and jewlery. I was having a very hard time because it's not "real" jewlery only costume jewlery and most jewlerys only work with gold or sivler repair.
I finally found a jewler who saud they could hlp and it only cost me $15 dolars to put a real back on it. I'm so happy with them, I'm just excited to wear them as I am the dress! I never met my great grandmother, but they were given to my mom from my Grandma, My grandma was the most amazing person in the world, the one person I knew who loved me more than anything. She died too young at the age of 60, almost 7 years ago now. I started dating my fiance just 6 months after her death, I always wished she could of met him and it I really wanted to honour her in some way, and I'm so happy I get to wear them. Here are images that show how they started and where they ended. |

Wedding Makeup
Makeup Trial
We did the makeup and hair trial together, and I also booked them on the same day as my engagement photos so I could be all dolled up for them. I think it's a bit too dark...it looks like A LOT of makeup in person, but not as much in photographs...I think I want something a little softer but I guess we'll see if it works more cleary after we get the engagement photos back....
we did them really late...we just kind of got busy with life and his brothers wedding which happened a few months ago, they come in the package so might as well use it, and that way we can see what our photographer can do...Hope they turn out well... :D The ones that seem pixalated in the preview are fine when you open the image... So... what do you think? |

Wedding Hair Style
Hair Trial Today!
Well had the hair tria todayl...but not sure we got where we needed to be...
I meet the stylist who is coming to my wedding venue though, and she is very kind and personable. what we did was sweet ... but I don't know if it is special enough...? I like the idea of having my hair down, but getting married outside in August will ruin all that hard work after about an hour of sweating in the sun, so up is a better idea,. It was nice but I want to look sexy and soft... not sure we got there... I go in for a dye the monday before my wedding and we will play again! She took these infront of a window so it's a bit hard to see everything but it will give you an idea. We did my makeup trial too but you can't see it due to the back light, so i'll post those seperately. |

Wedding bands
Wedding bands are in!
Our wedding bands came in in less than a week, He bought his from People's it's a titanium band, mine was from Michael Hill both were less than $250 after tax so it was less than $500..not too shabby...now the conflict I really liked the band when i tried it on, and since i do not like the band that was meant to "match" my engagement ring i wanted some thing that wouldlook nice with my ring. I was qouted $450 just to make a plain band to match the base of my engagement ring and $950 if i wanted to add a few stones...gulp! when i saw this i really liked it and when they said it was only $169 plus tax,I didn't hesitate to say yes..now i am wondering if it really does look right with my engagement ring, I like them both seperatly...but do I like them together....? Do you...?

Wedding Dress
Reception Dress from Lightin the box
Well I will try this again since WBC deleted the post after I was taging and saving :(
So I bought a reception dress, and before you judge me for being a two dress bride...hear me out! 2 months ago I was a bridesmaid for my future sister-in-law and had to wear a ballgown. The dress was much lighter than my wedding gown and I already a bit uncomfortable, I knew that I would be dying in my dress, which is at least 20 pounds heavier than the bridesmaids gown, on my August 5th, outside barn wedding. I originally fell in love with the Isadora Ann by Maggie Soretto for a reception dress but seeing it is a $1000 dollar dress and even though I bought my Maggie Sorretto gown (brittney) for only $500 because I bought it off the rack (saved $800 dollars!) I couldn't justify the extra cost. I didn't want to order a knock off, and orderinf from China is risky, but I found a certified company and though they do make the dresses in China they were certified and offered a return policy. The dress I found there was similar, but different. I took the plung and ordered a month ago. There were a lot of reviews out there on their products, some good, but honestly a lot of bad reviews. I decided that for $200 I could handle the risk, and knew I would have to cut my losses if it didn't work out. I had a few questions before the item shipped and found it very hard to contact anyone or send a message regarding my order. They have a section where they say you can send message my order, but there is no way to actually do it..FRUSTRATING! It just kept you going in circles. They have a 24 online support but it is only for people who are buying you are sent on a wild goose chase if you already made your order. I had to find an external review to get a specific email address, once I sent the message, my dress was shipped the next day, yet I never got a response on my email, and was worried at this point that they sent it out to avoid answering my email. There was a bit of a hiccup with deliver, I had to pay a $71.00 tarrif and duty charge, and paid it over the phone and left my signiture on the failed delivery notice on the first day so they would just leave it in the door the next day. I was so nervous I almost didn't want to open the box. It was however nicer than I expected, though it was not perfect. there were a lot of loose strings and the seam up the front went up over the second but simply tacking can fix that. It is however a bit too big but that is my fault. I ordered it a size larger than I am because I was nervous that it would fit small and then I wouldn't be able to wear it. All the reviews also said to avoid the custom sizing which was a $40 charge because most of the dresses needed altering anyways...so the bust and waist need work but I have a great seamstress. The bottom looks awesome and it is still very weddingy for a reception dress and I know I can dance all night in it! Plus I think it goes nicely with my long gown I'll post more pics once it's fitted, so let me know what you think! Ohh and I included pics of my shoes! They were one of my first wedding purchaces and almost a year later, I still love them! They are made my Poetic Licence (awesome shoes) and the rhinestones are little hearts! LOVE! |
