Wedding Jewlery
I had a surprise today!
It may not be real, but it's real pretty!

I saw a woman selling jewlery on kijji and she had one I liked but it was pink, I asked her if she had any in ivory, she said no but that she could make one and I was under no obligation to buy if I didn't like it and she is also agreed to help me convert my great grandma's costume clip on earings, into a real ones, so the necklace, braclet, and my grandma's earings wearable for $50.00 ( the earings are the only thing that needs to be done... if it can be....:S)

Today she sent me the image for the finished braclet and necklace

Now the crazy part... the brooch detail looks just like a shoe clip I bought from David's Bridal and turned into a facinator for my wedding.

So it's a perfect match which is unbelievable because I didn't talk to her about what I did at all...the only down side is I bought two more shoe clips that matched for my shoes, but now I won't use them, it would be way too much matchy matchy.

I'm still in shock over the coincidence of it all.

Cake Topper
Custom topper is finished!
I went to school for fine Art and though I am not a sculpture, I did meet several very talented sculptures at University and hired one to create the image we used for our Save the Dates and our Jack and Jill tickets into our Cake topper.

It is of Green Arrow, the fiances favourite comic book character and his bride Black Canary ( we named our dog Dinah after her true identity:P) I am very happy with it, though I almost liked it better before it was painted.

What do you think?

I took a one $1 flower from Ardiene's, pulled it apart. Then I took one very pretty $10 shoe clip from David's Bridal and took the back off. I glued the top of the shoe clip to the top pf the flower that I took the middle out of and then glue the clip on the back of the flower's clip back on and ....tah da!

A very Expensive looking hair clip for $11.00!

Kid's Table Centerpiece
You'll need a variety of size flat styrofoam circles the large one was from Michaels' the smaller ones from Dollarama, you need to be sure to build hieght so the table number can be seen.

The fabric flowers were clearenced at Micheal's after the summer for 49 cents each when I saw them I knew they would be perfect for the kids table because I have so many fabric based detials I've made for the wedding.

Use a hot glue gun to add the ribbon around the edge, then do a section at a time of hot glue with the paper grass. I left the space were the flower pots were sitting so it would be even. I alternated ribbon every layer. you need to hot glue each layer together.

Then I put the flowers back in place, And just for a bit more fun I placed dark pink and green tootsie pops at the base of the table number and also used them at the base of the bottom layer between the pots to look like more flowers

Brown and Green are my wedding colours, the only pink will be on the Kid's table, but the fabric flowers were too fun to pass up, and why not have the kids table be different!! I bought little travel games like Battle Ship, Hungry Hippo, Sorry for each kid and am going to wrap them in in paper with all the colours in it and use the polka dot and brown ribbon to finish them. THis project was a lot of fun, I hope the kids really enjoy it!:)

Wedding Decoration
Fabric Bunting
So we are getting married at a tree farm and the reception is inside a barn, I have a lot of hand sewn elements like the table numbers and my bouquets (see my other projects) So I thought that bunting would be a great fit for decorating the head table, candy table and pie/cupcake table.

I am also thinking of doing one for each of the kids with thier name to go over the back of their chairs at the kids table, we'll see how much time I have, anyway I am just half way through the project right now.

Here are the pendants I measured and cut. You should pick colours and patterns that are different but work well together. I did shades of brown, green and ivory

Honestly the measuring and cutting takes the longest!

I used Ivory Trim because it is already finished and you just have to tuck the pendants in but some people wrap the pendant around a string and sew the back.

So here is the buntingfor the head table. The decorator said that she needed 45 feet to be able to drap it for our 12 person head table. It seems way too much!! It circled my basement!! I also did 2 that were 25 feet for the pie and candy table, and need to do 8 smaller ones that will serve as aisle runners to be tied to the chairs outside for my walk down the aisle.

Wedding Flowers
Budget Centerpieces
A new flower shop opened up in my small town, so I stopped in to see what kind of centerpeices they could offer me for my tiny $300 budget for 15 centerpeices...I know, it's a tiny budget, BUT SHE AGREED TO DO IT AT COST!!

This is what we came up with

The cost for the flowers is $15 a centerpiece!!! I KNOW!! It includes A hydrangia, 2 dahlias, three green carnations, one stem(6 or so) light green button mums and some greenery.

This arrangment has a green rose but I am replacing it with a green carnation and we are going to put 2 more on the other side.

I love the Dahlias and the button mums!

I made the vase out of a cylindrical vase from Dollarama, a candle stick from Dollar Tree and some E6000 epoxy glue LOVE how it turned out total cost: Approx. $3.50

So total cost is...

$18.50 per centerpiece for REAL FLOWERS!!!

I already had the vases and candel sticks, I have made one so far...only 14 more to make, but it's easy I just need a few free hours on a Saturday.

Flowers come in under budget so I demanded she charge me the $300 so she could at least get paid a little, finding a deal is great but not at the expense of others

so total costs for me on my centerpeices is less than $375!!!( I need a few more vases for the girls and my bouquets)

I was so happy last week after the flower meeting, if I can figure out how to get my better images off my phone I'll post them.

The lesson here is that it NEVER hurts to ask!

Wedding Dress
Bought my Dress...For $500.00!!! And I'm a Plus Size Bride!!
I thought being a plus size would make my hunt for finding my dress harder, with a tight budget and a larger dress size I was afriad that I wouldn't be able to find a dress I loved that was within my budjet.

I actually found two I was considering both $800 but one I would have to pay another $100 if I didn't drop to a size 20, I am a street size 16-18 but a 20-22 in most bridal gowns. I was in no rush to choose, I wanted to know my options but I also didn't want to over shop and then confuse myself. I had only been to 4 shops and probably tried on roughly 30-40 dresses before I found THE ONE:P

Traveled 6 hours to outside of Ottawa to visit my MofH who I hadn't seen in almost 2 years, on my last day there we went dess shopping for fun, I had no intention on buying but I wanted the experience of trying on dresses with her.

At a second shop that we weren't even thnking about going to my Mof H loaded me up with over 12 dresses to try.

there was a cute sweetheart rushed dress that I liked by Venus, the price was right at $600.00 but the beading was right in the middle at the waist and would have looked much better to the side. the second dress I really liked was a Maggie Soretto dress called Brittney, it was a beautiful dress with things I really loved like the rushing and things I didn't think I liked like beading at the bust and placed on one side of the hips and theside of the thigh on the other and then an antique lace detail that peeked through the bottom. But such detail comes at a price.. The dress was $1100 there and I live near Toronto so the price might be close to $400 more here. We just bought our first home so our wedding budget is super tight I only wanted to spend $1000.00 on the dress, including alteratons.

The fabric and detail knocked the other one out of the park! I was considering going over my budget as I looked at myself in the mirror, and when it came time to take it off I had to do another dance around the store and make sure I could sit in it. I knew I would try to find it where I lived and if it was significantly more expensive there I would order from this shop and come up and visit again to pick it up.

And then the sales woman very sweetly said " I don't want to presure you into making a decision today, but you can have the one you had on for $500.00" $500!!! I was flaberghasted! It fit my body like a glove, just some alterations were needed in the bust and the train was not even that dirty underneath, just some hand wiping would be needed. It was an 18 so it fit very snug and would be allow me to continue to drop another 2 or three dress sizes due to the corset back and it if did lose more I can always get the sides taken in!!

It'sa Maggie Soretto and it's called Brittany
