Wedding Cake - Am I NUTS??? - CRSSTINA's Black Wedding by Color Blog

Ok ladies, here it goes. Many of you might not agree because it is tradition to have a wedding cake at a wedding right? Well I have decided against it. I am a bit of a rebel and I will not have a wedding cake for show and I really don't care to take a picture cutting the cake because that will not be one that I will be putting up in my living room anyway. So, I have decided to go with cupcakes and the Catering Co. will be passing them out to our guest right after dinner as a desert.

Oh we totally agree! Who are you having cater???? John and I are having a dessert bar with all kinds of mini desserts, and a chocolate fountain!! We are having a small 2-tiered cake (it's being thrown in for free by my baker with the dessert package we are doing) just for cake cutting ceremony, and so we can freeze the top tier and have it on our one year anniversary.

I am having Garza Catering from Sanger. They are serving Mexican cuisine.

Sounds awesome! I love Mexican food! I am half Mexican, and FH is a white boy! haha! We are getting married at Wolf Lakes, so food is included! I'm sure yours will be amazing!!

I LOVE cupcakes and I always use them for parties. Heck, it was my daughter's first birthday theme but I think I am going to stick with the wedding cake. The cake you have here is gorgeous!!

jamieleigh12: putting the cake in the freeze thats attached to your fridge is NOT a good idea. The reason is because this freezer goes through periods of freezing and slightly unthawing. Talk about gross. If you still want to put your cake in the freezer, my baker suggested a deep freeze. they don't do the freezing unthawing thing. Just a thought.

crsstina: thats such a good idea. It seems to fit your rebel personality. Why should you do a cake cutting ceremony if you dont want to? this is why its known as "your day" you get to do what you want. You don't want a cake cutting ceremony, so dont! Wonderful idea!

You're not nuts at all. It's your wedding! You do what you want and have it your way! We're having cupcakes as well. I do think we'll be having a small "cutting" cake, though.

some of you are a little confused and that might be my fault because I choose to post a random picture of a cake. The cake I have posted is not the cake that I want. Dont get me wrong, its a beautiful cake but I will not be having a cake at my wedding. I was thinking of just having cupcakes in the kitchen and have the waiters take them out right after dinner. Someone else gave me the idea to just go buy Costco sheet cakes and have them in the kitchen so when dinner is over the Catering Co can cut and pass out just like I would have them do If I choose cupcakes.

lilkas23...MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY....as soon as you say WEDDING cake the price goes up dramatically . So I have decided to display my cake. I will order red velvet sheets and have the caterer cut slices and pass out to my guest
