So I would just like to say that the wedding & reception went wonderfully yesterday. My Husband's Brother was his Best Man, his girlfriend/fiance wore white to our wedding. She wore a short white dress. When someone asked her to come down the stairs to be in a family pic (they have been together like 4 yrs in Feb), she said I didnt expect to be in any pictures as she ran her hands down to fix her dress. Then she talked bad about people when she didnt catch the boquet. Wow. Other than that it was wonderful!!! Just wanted to vent a bit.

So I decided since my red/black/white sneakers got vetoed that I would wear red shoes/heels/sandals whatever. (Gah I bet people who read by blog really know now that I am not a girlie girl) I googled it and have been looking at Zappos. Here are some ideas I came up with. I arranged them in the order I like them. FH just vetoed shoe4 , GAH!!! I guess I will try later, going to watch Eclipse.

Wedding Cake Stand/Base
So I was told to find a base or stand for the Wedding Cake. It has to be 18" in diameter. I have no clue what I am doing...........
Anyone have any idea where to find one that isnt crazy expensive, oh also not silver. I was told a mirror base would look great. The Cake is Ivory (bone), Black and Red. Please, would love some help over here!!!! |

Wedding Cake Color??
So I am wearing a white dress, already got it. The topper for the cake is bone colored with darker areas to add dimension. Is it acceptable to wear a white dress and have a 3 tiered bone colored cake with black ribbon lining the bottom of each tier accented with a few red flowers??? If it wasnt for all the dye that would be used, I would just say forget it and do a red cake or a black cake accented with the other colors. My Mom even thought I would cause I am normally sooooo non traditional.

while searching for a reception venue, we found a place for both the ceremony & reception. it is soooo pretty. its called St Columba. i tried to add pics but it wont let me. it is very woodsy which we both like.

Changes
Dress was a little too small, and the dress couldn't be let out enough to fit my boobs. So we added a corset. It really made the dress and I love it more now!! A friend is loaning me her veil to wear so I also have my something borrowed!

I went to Davids Bridal to try on dresses to see what I liked before I went to Low's. And wouldnt you know I found two beautiful dresses. We ended up putting the Non poofy one on hold. It is the only one left in my size and it has been discontinued. It ended up being 199. My Mom & her friend said the poofy one looked like I belonged on a cake. I liked them both. The straight one just needs to be let out a little over an inch in the bust and that will fix the problem. It is the perfect length. I am 5'4 and do not need the length taken up!
Oh Also got my hair cut off right before I tried on dresses. Addendum.... the straight dress came to 199, never found out how much poof was. know it was less than 450 I deleted my dress, dont want the FH to see it!! |

Wedding Dress
Low's is having there semi annual sale for 2 weeks after Christmas. I have been to their website to look at their stock. WOW!! I have been so la te dah in this planning, I really think this will help. The only thing I am not excited about is the fact that at the sale there is no dressing rooms and so men are not allowed. Forntunately I have people who are willing to hold a sheet around me. And now since my StepFather cannot be there to help I have enlisted a friend who is crazy honest to help. She kinda has the same style as my FH. So I guess it works. We may have also changed our colors from pink & black to red. It's fall so it works better and Cody saw this red wedding dress like 2 months ago and he hasnt forgotten it. He wanted to change colors so I could wear it. I really dont know how I feel about wearing a totally red dress. White with red would be ok. Since it is outside I was thinking white/ivory with some garden-y pattern. Until I read that Low's didnt allow men I was almost to the point of letting him come with me to pick out a few we both like, then choosing THE ONE from those to wear so it would still technically be a surprise.

Argg!
Most of the places I look at (online) have rooms that accomadate 150 and then like 1000. I'm just like WTF I am going to pay double for the 1000 room for 100 more guests!! This just upsets me! I mean seriously people. So if anyone knows of a place in Memphis to get married that can accomadate like 250 let me know...
We are going to look at a facility this weekend hopefully so we will see what happens there..... |
