This past weekend Jim, my Mom & I went shopping in Memphis. We shopped at 2 vintage shops: Garbo's & Flashback in midtown. Then we went to multiple antique shops in midtown & on Summer Ave. We had so much fun & got lots of great ideas for the wedding. We were mostly shopping for clothes & items to use in our engagment pictures. Also, Sunday Mom & Jim & I went through a huge closet at my Mom's finding all sorts of vintage hats, clothes, gloves, and jewelry that we are going to use in the wedding. I love my Mom so much & am so glad she is as excited about the wedding as Jim & I are. And I'm glad Jim loves shopping for vintage stuff, too. Antiquing with 2 women on the hottest day of the year is not most guys' idea of a great Saturday, but we had a lot of fun! haha I'll post some pics of some stuff we bought & of the stuff we have to use in the wedding.

Wedding Dress & Designer

Found the dresss & the designer!

Mom & met with a wedding designer and florist a few weeks ago...Anglea Mazanti in Memphis. We loooved her & loved her work. We talked about a lot of vintage ideas I had and I showed her a few picutres of what I've liked online. I showed her pictures of the chapel and of the reception venue and she seemed to have great ideas for decor. I hope this is the last great expense for the wedding besided the honeymoon!!!

So this past Friday we found my wedding dress!!!!!!! We went to Low's in Brinkley, Arkansas and after about 4 hours of trying to decide on a dress...I finally did. The style is similar to one of the very first dresses I tried on. So always go with your first instinct!!! It is a Casablanca dress, style # 1951. My mom, sister-in-law & futre mother-in-law went with me to find the dress & we had lots of fun. I got my dress, headpiece, veil and shoes!! So I'm set & can focus on other things now!!

Wedding Planning

A lot of the wedding planning has been done!!! Yay!! I wish the wedding was sooner!! We found a great photographer & videographer from Bartlett....Creation Studios. I can't wait to see his work after the wedding. We will have an engagement session hopefully early fall & I am already trying to decide what we are going to wear. I think definitely a dress for myself & jeans & a shirt for Jim with a vintage vest if I can talk him into it. He usually goes along with my ideas so we'll see. Right now I'm thinking a lot about my dress, my bridesmaids dresses & the florist/designer. I've got to find a florist that knows what I want. I love vintage decor, but still want it to be classy & not cheap...so we'll see.

Engagement Photos

On April 17 Jim & I drove to Jackson to pick up my ring at Taylor Jewelry then drove on to Memphis to meet my Mom at Botanic Garden to take advantage of the blooming flowers. April is definitely the best time to get there to see beautiful flowers and it's not too hot yet!! Since we now have this wonderful camera, we decided to take some pictures just in case we didn't want to do engagement pictures later on down the road. Plus, these pictures were taken right around the time we got engaged & if we do take more pictures, we will probably wait until the fall so it's not so hot...(Jim's idea). My Mom took all of these pictures and we had a lot of fun. Jim is always so patient while I am wanting 10000 pictures of everything. Then even more patient when we take the picture, I look at it on my camera, & say "no-redo it-I don't like it" haha Love him!!

Engagement

Jim & I were engaged on April 3, 2010 at Bari Ristorante in Memphis. We were supposed to be eating for my 25th birthday, which was on the 25th. I actually picked this restaurant & made the reservation myself because this was all for my birthday, supposedly. My mom, stepdad, brother, sister-in-law, and mamaw were there. And Jim's parents were there. After we ordered, my mom began to give me my gifts. The main one was a Canon Rebel camera, which I love!!! Then Mrs. Lee Alice gave me a "Easter gift" and before I could even realize that there were three ring settings and my Mom's ring that I've loved for years, in a pink box....Jim was holding my hand and down on one knee proposing!!! I was just in shock & for some reason thought he was just kidding. I just kept looking around & saying "you're kidding me", & "this is so random" & "is he serious?" Then I finally said yes & he got off of his knee. Then I started crying & kissing & hugging him. It was very sweet & I was very shocked. I was so happy that we were finally engaged since I knew it was going to happen from day 1. I then realized whyyy I had to open Mom's gift first and have such good pictures from our engagement night now!! She also had a bag of photography books & books about weddings. Then I began texting and calling people and still going over what had happened in my head. I finally chose a setting & had my ring in 2 weeks. We had already set a date by then. We decided on May 7, 2011...which was over a year away at the time, but we don't really have time for our own wedding because of other weddings & taking off work etc... So we are very happy & can't wait for 5.7.11 to get here...I know it will be here before we know it!!

about my wedding:

We are getting married in a little less than a year. Jim & I began dating in the fall of 2007. It was pretty much love at first sight. We just have a great chemistry & always have so much fun together. We are very similar in some ways, yet so different in other ways...which I think helps it work. We have a crazy, busy, fun life and I can't wait to get married and begin a family. I hope everyone can come to our wedding next May. We are having a vintage wedding and we are having so much fun planning!!!
