Wedding Invitation
We're making our own invitations. My mom will help a lot-- she's a paper maker and paper artist so she will be able to help us do something really beautiful.

I've started searching for pictures of things I like, but there's lots more to do!

Wedding Cake
I know I am going to do cupcakes, but I love this cake. I'm sure I could use it as inspiration for the colors and such for the cupcakes and the cutting cake.

candy buffet ideas
So I have lots of ideas for a candy buffet, but I know it'll also be a lot of work to figure it all out.

I want to incorporate the colors and the theme without limiting myself to chocolate-- would it be weird to have opaque containers? Are clear containers much better?

Also, where have people purchased mini tongs or scoops?

I found some really cute DIY bags for a candy buffet.

DIY Wedding
so many projects!
We will be doing a lot of things DIY for the wedding: cake, flowers, invites & programmes, decor, bar (set-up anyway--we'll hire a bartender), candy buffet, and lots more that I am sure I have forgotten.

Much of the reason for this is budget, of course, but it's also really important to me to be involved in a hands-on way. Exciting-- but daunting!

Wedding Hair Style
I really want to wear my hair down. It is medium to long, red, and super-thick, so I am thinking it would look good in forties-style roller curls with maybe a flower in it. I'll wear a lace veil for the ceremony only.

diy cake stand
I've been reading up on diy cake stands and found this fun option. The only issue? I need it to work as a cupcake tower. Hmmm...

Centerpiece ideas
Anyone have any fantastic centerpiece ideas?

I want to incorporate candles for sure, and I don't want tall centerpieces, so that does narrow it down a bit.

Inspiration Board
There are so many great inspiration boards out there; I am really excited to make my own as well.

These are a great jumping-off point.

Wedding Dress
Obviously the dress will play a big role in the whole mood of the wedding! I have known from the beginning that the right dress for me will be ivory with lots of lace, but other than that it's been pretty much up in the air.

I really like sleeves, and I am not big on super-shiny or sparkly materials. With this in mind, I went shopping last week and I think I already found one. It has 3/4 length lace sleeves, an off-the-shoulder neckline, a fairly low back, and beautiful buttons all the way down the back. So exciting-- and so me! I really like that it's a bit different and it seems well suited to a fall wedding.

Chocolate
We will be using brown, ivory, moss green, and gold. Because we're getting married in the fall, I've been thinking a lot about ways to make the reception feel 'warm' despite the fact that it will pretty much definitely be freezing cold and rainy outside. I like the idea of a sort of vintage/rustic hybrid: vintage details like antique lace and lots of candles, combined with things like pinecones and greenery.
