Wedding Cake
Oreo Cake
We are definitely having one of these bad boys at our reception, a cake shape made of stacked oreos... yes please. I found this on weddingchicks today and David is like I don't care if we said we would add anything or change anything we need one, oh how I love him lol. Now to find some cute packaging and we can do a double whammy and use them as favors (which originally were going to be oreo treats anyway) love love love love it

Wedding Rings And Jewelry
New Veil
Oh my lovlies it has been almost two months since I've blogged/really been online and I feel so behind, so many beautiful brides to be are now a mrs congratulations to you all, our own countdown is quickly dwindling to almost a month!
Wedding-wise we have progressed on some diys/caved in and found lovely vendors who do the job much better than we ever could and are sitting back content with out decisions. I really feel like its going to be glamorous, think dark velvety roses, purple callas, candelabras and crystals oh my, my veil albeit fun and lovely just seemed out of place and I've fallen for this little couture-ish number, a much better fit. I'm so excited to see our vision come to life, our focus has really shifted along our planning, the hints of wonderland are going to be so subtle but Tim Burton movies have definitely set a tone for our palette, I love our vintage key escort cards, the "eat me" for our cake table, and a couple of this way and that way signs, so perfect. I love the unique touches we've found like fern curls for the bouts and bouquets, our oreo cake (for those who don't know oreos played a crucial part in our story lol) soon enough, time has flown!!! |

Wedding Dress
Fiasco (but worked out for the better)
The day a girl gets a call saying her dress came in is supposed to be a happy one. Mine was no exception, I couldn't wait to stop by after work and put on my gown, its been three months since I found it and I really wanted to see it.
This is kind of long, so if you want the short version instead here it is my original dress was too small in the bust area, I don't really have time to order a new dress, I left the store with a discontinued sample gown and I love it! Feel free to continue for the details but thats the gist of it, this is more or less for myself :) Everything fit perfect except for the bust, I had near spillage (think Victoria Beckham Posh Spice era) The sample gown was two sizes larger than my own and the bust fit almost perfect but on mine its too small... I encounter this a lot when shopping my upper half is a size or two larger than the bottom because of my chest... its really a peeve especially when it interferes with my wedding dress. The girls at the shop were fab though the alterations seamstress said they could sew in a panel like a bandeau underneath but it really changed the look of the dress. Since it has not been altered I could order the next size or two up, but that would come within weeks of the wedding, I couldn't do it, what if it was late or something? I kept my head which I think helped my case a lot, the manager came over and took care of me personally. She offered store credit first and foremost and I explained with a three month ordering process and a wedding in 90 some days I'm not comfortable, so she asked how I felt about trying on some off the rack gowns and samples that were now for sale. Trying to be open minded I agreed. My tastes are very particular and she seemed to grasp them pretty quick after some ooh I like that and no its not me, the third dress she pulled for me to try on made my heart skip a beat, the top looked like a corset almost with obvious boning, a little bow on the empire waist (I love me a pretty bow) and it fits all my curves, I just need to get it shortened. For a sample gown its in great condition, and the store is going to dry clean the dress and alter the dress as an exchange. I think I love the new gown more than the original, its very unique, hard to find a photo online as I think its been discontinued but it is gorgeous! Imagine walking in to pick up one dress and walking out with a completely different gown, I never thought it would happen. |

Bridal Shower Thank Yous
My shower is coming up on August 8th, really all I know so far is that it is pink and grey/Paris themed (because he proposed to me in Paris) so I printed these up and will personalize them and send them out afterwards. Found some cute Eiffel Tower clip art and typed Merci and voila!

Swoon-worthy Cake Table/ Sweetheart table backdrop inspiration
Oh I am so in love with this and it has giving me a vision for our own reception,
We have similar draping going up around our room, and are planningon having our sweetheart table in front of one of the walls so the fabric will be similar, we have red/purple/white up-lighting for a romantic ambiance, and also have a crystal look curtain to put in front for some glam factor, we do not have a chandelier or a special lighting design like the picture but thats okay So what I'm thinking is getting a basic branch arch to go behind the table, weaving some orchid blooms through out, some purple hydrangea poms to hang from it, hoping it looks really romantic! |

Tri-fold programs attempt #1
Our details aren't 100% yet so just thought I would practice doing the folding, pretty simple. I've decided to use the monogram that the lovely ccranetobe designed for me on the bands because we love it and that it has both our names and the date, seems like the perfect project to use it on.
Things I plan on changing: Using white textured card stock, I find the white plain card stock simply too plain, hopefully will give it a little more 'lux and elegance Making the band thinner, waiting until I can borrow my friends paper cutter because I can't cut a straight line with scissors as you can probably see also reducing the size of the monogram a tad Also alignment, want it a bit more centered, have it figured out now I'll be able to use my bone folder to get the creases right before putting the band on Any suggestions welc |

Card Box Plans
What a simple and sweet idea for card box, using studs and tacks to make a design, I'm personally still going back and forth between something like this or a bird cage but had to share, thought it was genius!

Tri-Fold Programs
I love the look of fan programs but for simplicity's sake and due to lack of patience we're going to go this route with a trifold program, easy to fold, and then will print a bands with our skeleton key from the invitation, and our names to wrap around the outside, our question is should we have them on guests chairs (indoor so no wind to worry about), or in a basket at the ceremony's entrance, where are you putting your programs?

Super Cute Dresses
My new love is Dress911.com, shipping within Canada and the USA is only $7 very reasonable and their dresses are utterly perfect and flirty, I'm thinking about getting this pink dress for my upcoming bridal shower, the theme is going to be centered around Paris color scheme is pink and grey, and the dress comes in both colors but I own a lot of grey so this would be a nice pop in my wardrobe.
More exciting personal news, the skeleton of our house is up and starting to take shape, its so incredible to see it standing where only a month ago it was a cleared lot and a hole in the ground. We're aiming to be living in it after the wedding as long as everything stays on schedule that shouldn't be a problem. I just have this ideal of him being able to carry me over the thresh hold and we can spend our first night as Mr & Mrs in our new home. I think it would be so perfect and romantic. Maybe we're crazy for doing both at the same time but I'm loving it, now I get to obsess over home decor and its balancing out my wedding blog addiction hehe, also loving my new job everything is working out and it feels great! |
