I just wanted to share this picture/idea with anyone using crystal trees or trees for their escort cards. I am pretty much copying this exactly, except for a couple of details (black pots with green ribbon, but still using the jewel in front). I have already purchased the crystals to hang off the cards. I plan on getting the branches from save-on-crafts.com. Just though I would share because I think this is such a neat idea, and looks easy enough to do for all you fellow DIY brides out there!

table runners
We are going with a damask and chandelier theme. I ordered 5 billion yards of black Dandy Damask fabric by Michael Miller to have custom table runners made. I also ordered lime/chartreuse satin ribbon for the edges. I plan to cut all the fabric myself, and a friend of my mom's said she would sew them all for $100. I think once she sees all the fabric she's going to change her mind!!

We are having these printed on a nice cardstock for our table numbers (again, more fun with photoshop). Please tell me which one you like the most. Keep in mind the table cloths will be black with the damask runner, and there will be a very tall arrangement of lime green and white flowers.

Shoes
Since Joey and I are always sporting our Converse Chuck Taylors, he wanted to wear them to the wedding. At first I didn't think people would get it, after all some of the people who will be attending our wedding will be family members who don't see us enough to realize how "us" it is. Then I realized it's our wedding and I don't care what they think. Plus, they look cute with his mohawk (they will be so distracted by his hair they prob wont notice his shoes anyways!). Since Joey is not that much taller than me, I didn't want to wear heels that would bring me up to his height, so I decided to wear the all stars too! Don't worry, you won't even see them under my dress! I went on the Converse website and made a custom pair, which I will be ordering to give him as a gift. They are pretty much like the normal ones, only I changed the inside to Lime green to match our colors (nobody will see the inside anyway) and I customized the back with the date of our wedding. I am ordering a matching pair for myself. He is going to love them!!!! They will be comfortable for me too, since everyone knows I can't last more than an hour in heels!

Bridesmaids
with seven bridesmaids I was not looking forward to deciding on a single bridesmaids dress. I have every shape and size going on, from 5'1" and small chested to 5'10 and busty. I liked the look of having all different styles, but don't like the mix and match selection at David's Bridal. Enter twobirdsbridesmaids.com! One dress that wraps ten different ways! Each BM will be able to choose which style she likes best. The dresses are rather expensive (at $270 a piece), but they will be black, and honestly, they can wear them over and over again! They won't have to get them shortened either (just a little 27 Dresses humor!). The best part is, all the BMs LOVE them and are willing to pay out for such an awesome dress!

Ask a Question
Doing a little cake searching recently. The second cake it definitely my favorite so far. I also like the third one, but in black, white, and green of course. Since we are going with the whole chandelier theme, I really wanted to steal Carmen Electra's crystal cake jewelry idea. I found a place online that sells the chandelier-style crystal topper, but also saw directions for a DIY one that looked easy enough, (just hook the crystal on the end of some sturdy wire and voila). Do you think that it will be too much on a cake like number 2?

Invitation
we are pretty sure we have decided on the invites. We are tree huggers, so of course we feel guilty buying paper invites that we know will just get thrown away. I think email invites are a little tacky, so we have compromised and decided on getting recycled invitations. After searching the internet high and low I came across earthlyaffair.com and ordered some samples. We can choose between 100% recycled post consumer waste paper or FSC Certified Recycled Cotton Paper. The cotton paper is a tiny bit heavier so we'll probably go with that. The company is pretty awesome, they do everything as eco friendly as possible, including off setting carbon emissions. We like the Alcazar invite. With a little help from photoshop we changed the colors into ours, lime and black. The company says they can match your colors if you send in a swatch. So my question for everyone is, do you like the black border with green design or green border with black design?? (the pictures are a bit fuzzy, since we took the original from the company's website and altered it)

After being together for 10 1/2 years and being engaged for 4 years, we are very excited to finally be planning our wedding! Our colors are black and lime green (almost like a pear green, NOT neon green!) and we are going with a damask and chandelier theme.
