DIY Invitation Sneak Peak
Want to know what did I spent about 3 1/2 hours completing last night?

Our RSVP postcard!!

That's right, I said 3 1/2 hours.. I had to keep going back and re-doing it and tweaking it bc I would find something that just bothered me.

We wanted to have a fun RSVP card so this is what we decided on. This also gives you a sneak peak into what our invites will look like!! So, what do you think?

Flower Girl
Polka Dot Dress
I know I posted before about finding a flower girl dress at Target, but unfortunately.. it didn't fit. The biggest the dress is made in is a 5T and my little niece will be 5 in July. The dress fit her now, but it was a little tight and more than likely would be too small by November.

So.. last night I was buzzing around on etsy and I stopped and looked my seamstresses etsy shop just to see what she's been up to and I noticed that her daughter just opened a shop the beginning of this month. You know what she makes? FLOWER GIRL DRESSES!!

Not just any flower girl dresses, oh no.. she actually had a little miniature version of a polka dot dress. Seriously.. just look at those pictures! Cute, right? So.. I'm going to be contacting her about making the flower girl dress but with smaller and more polka dots, a blue sash tied in a bow in the front but on the side, and also have a pool blue pettiskirt for underneath the dress (not the purple that is pictured.) Ahh.. I'm so excited about finding this flower girl dress and I can't wait to put in the order in August or September (her turnaround time is about two weeks!) I'll definitely post pictures on here when it comes in!

80's Themed Bridal Shower
We're planning on having an 80's school themed bridal shower. I found the attach pictures on JolieJolie Design blog and fell in love. I think it is going to be so much fun. We're going to have everyone dress in 80's and also have a vote for "class" superlatives (I'll obviously automatically be "Most Likely To Get Married") and whoever wins the superlative will get a sash that has it written on there. We're also going to put out a polaroid camera and scrapbook for guests to take pictures and put it in the "yearbook" or "slambook" and write a message for me.

I think it'll be so fun and totally different.

Anyone have any suggestions for some awesome superlatives and/or games to play?

Cropped Cardigans
I stumbled across this picture on one of my many google searches and I fell IN LOVE with the brown cropped cardigans! As many of you may know, my bridesmaids dresses are similar to the picture.. knee length, blue dresses with brown sashes and a brooch. Since our wedding is in November, cardigans would totally fit in and really... don't they look SUPER cute in this picture?!

I'm just having a hard time finding dark brown/espresso colored cropped cardigans (keyword: cropped) for them to wear. If anybody has any suggestions as to where to find one (all I find are black and white ones) that are also offered in extended sizes (my bridesmaids are all shapes and sizes).. please let me know!!

When do you register?
According to my weddingwire.com checklist, we should be registering this month and then just update the registry when the wedding is closer (we're 8 months away from the wedding). We are planning on registering at Crate & Barrel and Target and possibly Bed, Bath & Beyond.

When did you register and where? What do you consider a good time frame to register?

Awesome Target Find
Yesterday my fiance and I went into the local Target store to find a birthday gift for my niece and I came across something totally awesome. I walked past the little girls section and saw some dresses and decided to look and what did I find? A white polka dot dress for only $14!! Now, we will be making some changes to it to make it seem more flower girly for a wedding.. for instance, we are removing the bow in the front and Derrick's aunt is going to sew on a blue sash that will be tied in the front to the side in a bow. In addition to that, we are going to buy a crinoline to go underneath it to give it some added poof. These things shouldn't cost too much to do and you really can't beat that dress for $14. I'm taking it home this weekend for her to try on and see if it looks good.

Gotta love Target. lol!

Polka dot ring bearer pillow
I decided that I was going to incorporate polka dots in a very subtle way so that it ties in with my wedding dress. So, I decided to make a polka dot ring bearer pillow.

This was a fairly cheap and easy project. I bought a plain white ring bearer pillow from Wal-Mart and took off the white ribbon and hearts. Then I bought a sheet of white glitter stiff felt and took a milk jug cap and cute the circles out. After that, I hot glued the circles onto the pillow, took some brown ribbon I had laying around and glued that where the original white was and I took the white bow and hearts and glued those on as well.

I think it turned out so cute and it costs me about $11 total (I had the hot glue gun and ribbon already).

Honeymoon
Paris & Rome
Derrick and I have been been torn between going to Oahu and Maui or going to Paris and Rome.

Just the other day we decided that we are going to spend two weeks in Paris and Rome (one week in each place)!! It's actually going to be a little cheaper for us than going to Hawaii (and we were only going to Hawaii for 10 days). We've been looking at apartment rentals to stay at while there, but I'll wait to post those until they are booked.

I'm super excited, I've always wanted to go and see all the history and art. We'll be going from November 29th-December 13th so it's considered low season and less touristy.. not to mention, it'll be all decorated for the holidays! I can't wait!

If anyone has any suggestions for anything to do in Paris and/or Rome, please feel free to pass them my way! Thanks!

Bouquet Toss
Fortune/Breakaway Bouquet
I read about the breakaway bouquet on weddingbee one day and thought it was a marvelous idea. One thing I hate about bouquet tosses is that it singles the singles out and makes it kind of awkward.

Enter the Breakaway Bouquet.. also know as the Fortune Bouquet. Basically, you bundle up a bunch of mini bouquets so that when you throw it in the air, they break apart allowing more than one person to catch it. I'm going to have each mini bouquet have a ribbon tied on it with a "fortune" written it for the people who catch them. By doing this, it allows all the females to participate no matter what their relationship status is.

I'll probably have the DJ say something similar to the following so everyone knows what is going on: "We are doing the bouquet toss tradition a little different than most of you are probably used to. I mean, would you expect anything else? So in ancient times, it was believed that the Bride and Groom were especially lucky on their wedding day. Guests would sometimes tear at the Bride’s dress for a souvenir piece of good luck to take home. The Bride would toss her bouquet or garter to prevent guests from bothering her (and her dress!) during her reception and to pass along some of the new couple’s good fortune. We want to share our good fortune and would like everyone to join in the fun. So we need all of the ladies out here on the dance floor to see what they can catch."

Do you have any special plans for your bouquet toss or are you scrapping the idea all together?
