Derrick and I have been been torn between going to Oahu and Maui or going to Paris and Rome.

Just the other day we decided that we are going to spend two weeks in Paris and Rome (one week in each place)!! It's actually going to be a little cheaper for us than going to Hawaii (and we were only going to Hawaii for 10 days). We've been looking at apartment rentals to stay at while there, but I'll wait to post those until they are booked.

I'm super excited, I've always wanted to go and see all the history and art. We'll be going from November 29th-December 13th so it's considered low season and less touristy.. not to mention, it'll be all decorated for the holidays! I can't wait!

If anyone has any suggestions for anything to do in Paris and/or Rome, please feel free to pass them my way! Thanks!

I did an exchange in France while I was in university (Lille, about an hour from Paris) and my FH visited me while I was there and we did Paris and Rome (and Nice, Marseilles, and Venice).

Paris - just walk around everywhere!!  We spent a day pretty much just touring and walking around.  You can see a lot of the regular tourist attractions that way too, and the metro is super super easy to figure out - and most service people speak English.  So stuff to see - Versailles, Arc de Triomphe, Champs d'Elysse, Sacre Couer (don't pay to go to the top of the Eiffel Tower, just go to Sacre Couer - it is free and gives you the BEST view of the city), Notre Dame (GORGEOUS!!!!!!), the Eiffel Tower of course, The Louvre, can't think of anything else right now.  If I think of anything else in Paris I will let you know.  Beware people wanting money for something (little kids often) or wanting to take a picture of you because they will want money in exchange.

Ok so Rome - again walking around is just awesome, and the metro system is fairly easy to figure out.  So St. Peter's Basilica, Sistene (sp?) Chapel, the Vatican, etc. the Colliseum (worth it to go in - so cool), eat everywhere and anywhere.  The food is to die for oh my gosh!  One of the best restaurants we ate at was around the Colliseum but I can't remember the name of it.  Oh well, everywhere is good!  Eat as much gelato and pasta as humanely possible.  Seriously, it is freaking amazing and way way way better than anything you get in North America (both the gelato and pasta).  Trevi fountain (your pic) is pretty nice, but again beware men wanting your man to buy a rose for you and take a picture, mucho dollars.

Um ok that is crazy long... most of the tourist stuff is actually really good in both of those places, and with a week in each city you have lots of time to explore the city.  I'm so excited for you.  I heart Europe soooo much.

Try for places to stay that are pretty cheap.  I was able to stay in hostels that were exactly like hotels but cheaper everywhere I travelled in Europe (i.e., not staying in a room with 20 other people, just you and your man).  Many of them had a continental breakfast too.

Oh and in Paris beware the coffee.... it's good but you usually only get a teeny tiny mug, more like an espresso.  Most places I went anyway seemed to be like that.  I always wanted more... FH and I actually ended up going to McDonald's to get a good cup of coffee, pretty ridiculous, lol.

I've been to both places and you'll love it. My mom gave me a tour of Europe as my graduation present for high school (back in 2004). Rome is nice, but please visit Florence and Venice, Italy...both places are amazing :-)  I really hope you enjoy your honeymoon. You picked some very romantic places :-)
