COUNT DOWN
Less than a year
Ok, so I totally missed the switch from months to days by quite a bit. But I felt the need to do a little jump for joy at the change. Although I find it slightly depressing too, because until this wedding website came into my life, I was blissfully unaware of EXACTLY how long I had to wait. I had a vague idea, but I didn't have a number attached to it until now. So yay for less than a year!

Summer of Weddings
Other Weddings
I know, I know. Totally slacking on the blogging. I just haven't felt inspired... Wait, that's a lie, I come up with grand ideas on what to blog about in my head at random moments through out the day, and then when I sit down to blog, all those thoughts just fly right on out of my head.

So I thought I'd just jump back in completely, with both feet first. I went to two weddings in the same weekend in May and I thought I'd post some pictures from that. I also have one more to go to in July and two weddings coming up this fall/winter that I'm in!! It's wedding madness. I tried out some make up for my engagement pictures when I was getting all done up (we took our engagement pictures last weekend and I will post them as soon as I remember to not leave them at work).

Stuart Weiztman...also too expensive. But they are perty. Also not navy...

I love the bow! And the low heel. Not so keen on the pointed toe.

I absolutely ADORE these, but the heel is definitely WAY too high.

SHOES!!
So the boy and I always see eye to eye...literally. We are within a quarter of an inch of each other. And as non old fashioned as I am, I do like it better when I don't tower over him in pictures. That combined with the fact that I am determined to wear a cute pair of navy blue shoes has made my shoe hunt a wee bit difficult. Oh! And I have ridiculously wide feet, like we're talking I have to buy men's running shoes because they don't make my width in womens.

I'm pretty sure his dress shoes boost him up and bit and buy me an inch or two of wiggle room, and I've found some that are ok. Nina shoes are AMAZING! I just thought I'd post a couple of shoes I heart and get some feed back. I also threw in one or two ridiculously expensive shoes that I would never actually spend the money on because I don't wear heels all that much. But they sure are purty.

Ask a Question
Invitation Templates
I hope everyone had a good memorial weekend and did summer-ish activities...although if anyone had weather like we did on Friday, that would have been difficult. It snowed at my house on Friday!! I couldn't even believe it. There are May brides here with pictures that look like they got married in December. It's entertaining. The boy and I went up to Oregon with his family and had a good old western time branding cows (his family is ranchers). And now I am back to civilization and back to surfing the internet for wedding ideas.

I have been scouring the web and various stores for invitations I love and I think I am being ridiculously picky (I keep telling myself they are just invitations that people throw away). I keep coming back to the pocket fold ones. I really love these ones...the problem is the only way I will be able to afford them is to do them myself. And the website I like just comes with blank cards (the pictures are all examples of invitations brides made from this website).

So I was wondering where everyone who has made their own invitations gets their template from? Specifically the graphics. I love swirls and vines with flowers and leaves or flourishes, but I run into the problem of not being able to find them in navy, which is the color I have my heart set on for the invitations...any suggestions?

Bridesmaids
Dresses - Heart!
So I went shopping with my lovely friend Shayla (Prncss173) the other day and we looked at bridesmaid dresses at the smaller shops around town since I was a little on the fence about the Alfred Angelo ones. And we found this beauty and I swooned! It's spectacular. It makes me sad that I am not required to get one of these dresses...and I am half contemplating getting one just to wear to a party myself.

The dress is a little too drape-y on the model, it was less so on my friend. And please note the pockets, which I am OBSESSED with. I think pockets in dresses are the coolest inventions ever. And also note the bow in the back, which I absolutely adore!!

Now I just have to round up my posse to try it on and get a little feed back.

Ask a Question
Feelings on Bachelor Parties?
I would just like to preface this with a disclaimer that I in no way, shape or form mean to offend anyone with this post. I am all about living your life and I fully believe that people have the right to make decisions other than those I would make. I really don’t mean to insult or offend anyone, I just have some feelings I’m trying to deal with that I desperately need to get out and make sense of.

So the boy went to a bachelor party last night for a good friend who is getting married tomorrow. They ended up at a strip club and the groom ended up in the back room for a significant amount of time (more than half an hour). My boy told me this because we are super open with each other and talk about just about everything, and I have to say, I am super skeeved out. I don’t understand why anyone would need to go into the backroom, let alone for an extended period. It isn’t necessary.

I have some serious issues with all of this. And I was thinking about it, and it’s not just the whole naked girl in my boyfriend’s face (although I’m not a huge fan of that, and I’m thinking if the tables were turned, he wouldn’t be a huge fan of me straddling some guy wearing very minimal amounts of clothing). But I have issues with the fact that I think I just don’t want to marry the type of guy that would do that. Like I know plenty of guys who just go have a boys weekend sans strippers for their bachelor parties (they go river rafting, riding quads, golfing) and these are guys that have amazing marriages and guys that I respect. After I was told about the guy last night, I lost my respect for him. And I don’t want to be marrying someone that does that (not that I think Mike would, it’s hypothetical).

So I realized that my main issue with these is the idea of the type of guy that usually does that. And I just have this one memory of my little brother talking about the bachelor party and Mike said that his brother was planning it and all his friends might want to go to a strip club and my brother got this horrified look on his face and that image is just burned into my memory. I don’t want my fiancé to the person that insights that type of look on my family’s face. My family just isn’t the strip club type. My older brother was the one who went river rafting for his bachelor party and I’m super close with my brothers, so they would hear about whatever Mike ends up doing for his party and I just can’t stand that thought of him being the strip club guy.

Which makes me feel like a witch girlfriend, because I should A. trust my guy and B. not worry about what other people think about him. So I feel very conflicted. On the one side, I know he would never do anything stupid if they did go to a strip club (they might, they might not), but on the other, that’s just not the type of person I want to be with and not the type of thing I really respect. I was just wondering if anyone else feels this way, or are you ok with the strip club stuff? Does it bother you at all? And if so, does it make you feel like that “jealous girlfriend”?

Honeymoon
Decision (sort of) done!
Ok, so sorry for being gone for FOREVER!! School got absolutely insane. I just finished up my first year working on my master's and finals were a little crazy! But I'm back now and have lots to write about!! I have flowers and DJs and engagement photos (oh my!). But I figured I would ease back in and just post really quick about the honeymoon.

We've been tossing around a couple different ideas for a while, and I'm the type of person that LOVES to plan and research trips stuff. So I had several criteria for the honeymoon:

1. Must Must MUST zip line during it. I have wanted to zip line FOREVER. I have been hang gliding and LOVED it and I knew I wanted to do something similar on our honeymoon. I have wanted to try zip lining forever and this seems like the perfect opportunity.

2. Hiking and Kayaking need to be available. I love to do both and really want some activities to do on our honeymoon because I know Mike would be bored out of his mind if we just sat on a beach all day (I would get bored too, just not as quickly).

3. Some lazy beach time is also a necessity. I love me some sun and relaxation! I love to grab a good book and just sit on the beach and enjoy the slow pace.

So that was what we were looking for. I didn't want to go to the Caribbean because we have already been there on a cruise. We were tossing around the idea of Mexico or Hawaii and then suddenly information for the Harry Potter Theme park started coming out. I have to tell you, my boy has an unnatural obsession with Harry Potter. He loves the books. I'm pretty sure he's read and reread every single book at least ten times (not even exaggerating there). When the last book came out, we went out and bought it at midnight and he stayed up all night reading it (until 8 am the next day). So he casually joked about wanting to go there for the honeymoon and I said no way, that's not a good honeymoon place! But I started to see the pictures of it (I love the books too...though not quite to the same degree) and I really fell in love with the idea of visiting there. SO I looked at flights and realized that anything to Central America from the west coast is routed through Texas. We'd already be half way there. We looked at flights and it was only a little bit more to add a flight to Orlando in between.

THEN my friend recommended instead of going to Mexico, we should go to Costa Rica. She said her dad had been there and loved it. I'd also read that the best rated zip lines were located there. So I also presented this to The Boy and he was jazzed.

To make a long story short (and wrap it up), we have decided to fly first to Orlando and go to the Harry Potter Theme Park (which made Mike clap and jump up and down in excitement like a four year old while researching it a bit) and then fly from Orlando to Costa Rica. I'm SOOOOOOOO excited. It'll be PERFECT.

So I swore to myself up and down that I wasn't going to hop back on the computer tonight for ANYTHING since I spend a majority of my day starting at a computer. But then I couldn't resist. I've just been away far too long! For that, I apologize, to anyone who really cares. I've actually been going through withdraws because I keep getting e mails about all the updated blogs that I don't have time to look at and I desperately want to get on and look at all the general updates. I just love looking at everyone's details and ideas. I think everyone is so creative and it all looks so cool and I'm living vicariously through other brides because there are so many things I can't do (do to various reasons like season constraints, time constraints, money constraints, lack of having more than one big occasion to wear a big white dress to, etc) that I love to watch other people do. I am seriously so addicted to everything on this site!

I had to post about my bridesmaid dresses. I went last week with my younger sister (who is a freakishly tall 6'1", I love you Allison) and my friend Shayla, who is a fellow WBC bridge (Prncss173, check it, she's amazing!), along with my lovely significant person. We went to Alfred Angelo's and between us, we narrowed it down to a chiffon dress (apparently the significant person has issues with shiny fabric...I don't ask, I just accept...actually he's very cute and I love dearly that he's so into all the details along with me, and he's never obnoxious about any of his opinions). So the pictures of the final four are posted to the right. The first two are the girls favorites and the second two are ones I didn't mind, but didn't like as much, so I kept them mentally in the running.

My favorite is the one with the bow, which I think would look amazing in pictures and looked great on both girls (it looked better on them than it does on the model, which is always a spectacular sign in my opinion!). My problem with the bow dress is two fold: 1.) Might look very busy with loud flowers... and I like loud flowers 2.) The bow comes in a contrasting color and I'm not sure which color to use.

So my flower issue comes into play here. I like two possible ideas for flowers. I found a picture from another blog (I can't recall who... I've been scanning stuff for a while, so if you would like to claim the picture, please feel free to) and this bouquet is bright pink and red, and I just fell in love with it. I think it will look good against navy and I love the idea of having flowers that pop like that against my dress in pictures. However, these are not our wedding colors, which my friend Shayla might twitch a little at (she is a color person and LOVES color) but I know she'll survive. This bouquet also doesn't really go with my vintage-y type wedding. Also I think the pink flowers will clash horribly with the bow dress, hence the other three dresses.

The other bouquet I really love is the one on the current issue of Bridges magazine. I might add a gardenia or two in it, but I like the over all idea of it. I think this one might go ok with the sash dress.

So any opinions on which dress? Do you have any suggestions on the accent color? How about which flowers? Do you think I'd be ok going with the pink ones even with a vintage-y wedding? Or would it just clash WAY too much? Advice and different points of view are always welcomed and appreciated!! Thank you!

Got Our Photographer
I figure I should post my photographer. We actually booked him right after we booked our reception site because photography is one of the most important things for me. I am super excited about this photographer. When we met with him, everything he pointed out that he liked to do in his photos was EXACTLY what I liked and looked for in photography, so it was perfect. The only thing I was worried about was that he didn't have a lot of posed shots (though I am excited he takes good candid shots), but he was super open about doing whatever photos and poses I wanted.

His web site is:
http://www.ciprianphotography.com/

He has a TON of cool engagement sessions and poses in his blog, if anyone is looking for any ideas to send to their photographer.

Yay! Some photos of his that I like to the right. I actually know the girl in the last couple of shots, which is how I found him. So I like that I know what she looks like in real life!

Bridezilla: TV show
So lately I've been obsessed with everything wedding (which I SWORE to myself I would absolutely NOT do...but it's just too fun). And I have been filling up my Tivo with wedding shows. I usually watch the TLC ones, but I ran out of those, so I moved on to Bridezillas, which I hadn't watched before and I have to ask, does anyone know where they get these people? And WHY in the world anyone would agree to go on a show devoted to making them look like not the best person? I don't get it!

Also, anyone else addicted to bride shows? What are your favorites? I'm looking for some more to add to my tivo.

(I found the picture highly entertaining)
