Keeping the dress a suprise?

I was just wondering who shows the groom their dress and who is keeping it a surprise. I'm not showing Mike what my dress looks like before our wedding, but it's KILLING me. I share everything with him and he's the one person whose opinion I care about the most and who I love to discuss things with. Not to mention, I am so excited about my dress! And my wedding is so far away!

So I was just wondering who likes to share everything with their groom and is it just killing you to have to wait to? Or did you decide to let him in on it?

I had such a hard time with this!
I felt just the same as you his opinion was the most important.. but i really didnt want him to see it before our wedding day!!
so i had him sit with me and went on the company website and I showed him probably over 100 dresses and made him say yes or no to everyone!!! (kinda made him suffer i know, but he was a good sport)
His reaction when he saw my dress was " ohh.. i REALLY like that one"
That made it worth it to wait and not show him :)

Hmm. I showed him the first dress I picked out. He wanted us to compliment each other. I told him a nice suit goes with anything I would pick for a wedding dress.

I have since then chosen 2 different dresses..and it depends on how I'm feeling that morning/evening which dress I will actually wear on our wedding day. He has no idea what they look like.

He better not see it before our date?  He knows I've purchased a Chanel gown and I would absolutely crushed if he did.

Nope...not showing him.  To be honest, he's not really interested in what it looks like until he sees the whole package, ie our wedding day.  I think it will all be really surreal :)  But, I have it tucked away at my parents house in their back closet, so Im safe with knowing he won't just "happen" to see it ;)

They had my dress in the fashion show at the wedding faire and Brandon was like, "Now that is a pretty dress...you should get a dress like that."  I then snarled and said I tried on the pick up bottoms and they looked awful on me...I also want something with a little more boob showing...tee hee hee...I had to throw him off the scent.  It is hard, but fun at the same time and it is worth the total surprise at the end.

I am keeping my dress a surprise, too. In fact, only my BMs have seen it, so it will be a big surprise for everyone. It is hard not to share the look with my fiancé, but I think it will be so much better when he sees it for the first time!

I'm in the same boat as you - my FH wants to see my dress before because he wants to do as many pictures before the wedding as we possibly can.  There's also a possiblity of us doing a bridal shoot a few days before the wedding and I want him to be in some of those pics....so my dilema is wanting to stick to my guns about my dream as a little girl growing up when the doors of the church open my FH is standing there and his jaw drops when he sees me...or do I give in and do the bridal shoot like I want and do pictures before the wedding with him seeing me?? I'm soo confused - hopefully by Dec. I'll have it all figured out haha!  My advice to you though would be to follow you're heart - I tell Chris everything and I'm sure I'll be like you once I get my dress so excited about it that I want to tell him...

I explained the dress to FH using as many words (tulle, bodice, french lace, netting, lace-up, corset, sweetheart ) as possible and he's utterly confused....as he should be. :)

But now everytime someone says "SO what does your dress look like?" or anything about the dress in front of him he spews all of these words that he has no idea what they mean... and we laugh.

I was on the fence about this just like you until I talked to FH about it. he didn't want to see it before the wedding.
We had a harder time deciding whether we should see each other that morning. I wanted us to stay in the apartment together, but he wanted to be traditional and stay in a hotel. So i have some bms staying with me and it will be so magical to see him waiting at the end of the aisle!

I am the same way! FH is my best friend and I share everything with him but this is the one thing I haven't! He's seen everything else but my dress! It's hard but I can't wait to see his face when he sees me in it for the first time!

I'm having a hard time, too... especially since my FH has such good taste and I would love his opinion. But, this is the last bit of mystery I can give him before our new life together, and I'm so excited that he'll be standing down at the end of the aisle, trying to get a glimpse of me!! And I'll have my face covered with my veil, so hopefully he can't see too much of my face as I walk down. I am very excited to make everything mysterious for him and drive him nuts, haha. ;)

I am definitely keeping it a secret. It's the same thing with me, cuz I share everything with my fiancee and it's hard not to show him the dress, or at least tell him how it looks. I think of that moment when I make my grand entrance and the look on his face when he sees me in that gorgeous dress, and it's just so worth it! :]

I am the same way!  it is so hard to keep this "secret" from him.  He gets so upset too.  Its kinda cute, but it is also getting under my skin.  He is my best friend.  Sometimes I tell him that I wish I could share the dress with the best friend side of him, but only if he promises not to tell the husband to be side of him.  This comment normally diverts his attention for a few days, lol.  But it really is hard, and I do not plan to show my dress to him at all!!  Lately he hasn't been too persistent.  Its either because our date is so close (3 months) or because he has secretly seen a picture from snooping.  Just for sanity's sake, I will tell myself that is due to the former vs. the latter!

my FH seen a picture of the dress online which was in white and mine is a little more ivory but will not actually see it on me until the wedding day. he wont see me until my hair, makeup and dress are all on. i think hes going to be shocked and so suprised and thats all worth it to me. I def wantt to show him before hand. its killing me not to but it will be worth it in the end. :)

Hey! I decided to create an account so that I could comment on your blog...and I am going to try and keep up with one of my own!

I am in the same boat when it comes to showing Jordan my wedding dress. But I am not going to do it! I share everything with him and he has had just as much input into the details of the wedding as I have, so I figure this can be the one surprise! It's hard though, I haven't even given him a description of the dress or anything.

I'm didn't  intentionally plan on showing him, but he did manage a quick glance of a mock-up of me in my dress that I had up on my computer monitor.  He saw it and said "What's that?"  with a knowing look in his eye.  Oops.  Oh well!  I'm sure details are getting fuzzy for him by now (because he could really care less about bridal fashion), and it will look different on our wedding day when everything is included.  :)

Guess I will be the only one to comment that he has seen the dress, we picked it together. I couldn't imagine keeping anything a secret from him, but then we also will not have a Wedding wedding, just a small ceremony. He has not seen the dress ON me however and I intend to keep it that way, but may still change my mind...
