Wedding Favors
Sweets!
Have been going back and forth with favours. I have done some research on what makes a 'good favour, and what makes a 'bad' favour. I have found that MOST people remember and LIKE edible treats more than other things....So I think I'm gonna do that route - something that will keep well if they don't eat it that night, and something that most everyone likes....Fudge or Truffles! I have to do some shopping to see who can offer me what, but I think that might be a good idea...Opinions???

Bridal Shower
Didn't think I was going to have a shower since we had a stag and doe, but it turns out (expectedly) that the stag and doe was mostly his side of the family. My mom said she is willing to throw a small shower for the women on my side, which I thought was really nice. Soo, it's going to happen in January! I have a family thing this weekend, so I will be making up the invites tonight and tomorrow, so that I can hand them out on Saturday at the family get together.

Does anyone have any ideas of what we can do during the time, since I would like to avoid as many cheesy bridal games as possible...maybe if there's some fun ones...I'm in, but not so into the cheesy ones...

Also, I had an idea that I need input on. I was inspired by 'Oprah's favourite things' show, and I'd rather not register somewhere...Instead, I'd like to make up a list of things that we'd like and need, and people can share THEIR favourite things. For example...if we say a mug set - someone could go out and buy their favourite mugs and give that. Or if we say art for the walls - people could give out a piece of their own artwork or something they really feel like you would love. Another example is restaurant - people could buy us a gift card of their favourite restaurant...etc. Iike the idea of giving something YOU yourself love too. I was thinking, along with the invite, instead of 'registered at...." I could print up a small list of things, and then when people RSVP to my mom, she can be the registry type - letting people know if the mug set is already purchased, or two pieces of art are already being given, etc...Just thought it was different and kind of cool...BUT is it too difficult to implement?

Groomsmen
He has them!
At the Stag and Doe, Chris officially asked his dad, his brother, his cousin, and his uncle to stand up at the wedding. They all said yes - he was VERY relieved! Now for what they're wearing....

We're still undecided on the ties - there will be no vests...

Chris still wants a grey suit. Does he do grey with grey, and the men do black with black? Or do they do multicoloured ties even if they don't match up to the bridesmaids?

The pic of the suit is creepy! The colouring went wonky! lol....Oh well, it's a nice, sleek suit...The guys will be getting them at Moores

Here are some styles that our florist thinks would work well in the space. I was thinking of doing a staggered look - some floral and some twig - buuut I guess we'll see what she comes up with...here are some examples of what she was talking about (it's hard doing flowers NOT in the same city!!!)

They are all just ideas, and I think it will somehow turn out to be an amalgamation of all these photos...lala....better than what I could do on my own, I think!

We changed our idea as of last night - I think it will be better/easier to hire someone to do this for us, rather than doing it in London, and transporting it to Mississauga...I am excited to see what we end up getting...Feedback is always appreciated!

Wedding Flowers
Bridesmaid Flowers
Chris and I have been getting more done lately regarding the wedding. (YAY! Better late than never, right??)

A few posts will follow...

Here are two samples of flowers I like for the bridesmaids,....I want simple, white, and more rustic ribbon - nothing shiny, and nothing too bling-y.

What do you like better? Before, I would not have considered tulips, but I'm dutch...annnd I think it could be a cool way to bring in my side of the family and they're in season in February...The other option, I was drawn too since I like large headed flowers. I think both could look nice...Preferences???

UPDATE: The tulip picture isn't posted...NUTS...I'll try to get it up soon! It's quite nice too!

Wedding Rings And Jewelry
With three months to go...
Two days ago, it was exactly three months to go until our wedding...I picked up his ring (which he loves!). On our way home, he was being cranky, which almost NEVER happens with him...He has been working overnights this past week, which he never does...so he's not used to the crazy hours, and has been running on almost no sleep, and was therefore being cranky and not quite himself...I was initially frustrated but quickly became way more understanding of his situation, and decided to let things go...When we got home, I pulled out the ring, got down on my knee and asked him to marry me (still)...Even despite weirdness, crankiness, and irritability that night, we were still able to find a sweet moment together which speaks volumes of what our relationship is all about. I love this man so much!

Split Second Engagement Photos
A few weeks back, I got my engagement photos back from m y photographer, Melanie Moore, owner of Split Second Photography. We were both pleasantly surprised, as there turned out to be MORE good photos than we thought there would be. I tend to be quite silly, and he thinks he's not photogenic. There's 102 proofs online, but I just have a few to share. They aren't all my favourites, but they are ones she put on FB, sooo, here we go! THANKS MEL!

Wedding Cake
Cupcakes, YEAH!
Thinking of having cupcakes instead of a cake. What three flavours would be best?? I think for sure chocolate, and carrot, but I'm unsure of the last one...Maybe lemon, vanilla? Any suggestions of what you think would be best? I also always love that sprinkle brithday cake flavour too, with the rainbow colours inside! But that's the kid of heart of me! Ideas/suggestions are welcome! Thanks ladies!

It happened so randomly...We went out for a date night last week. We were going to go for a nice dinner and then a movie. BUT the restaurant we went to was closed, and since we were fairly short for time to try to find another place at 6:00 on a Friday night, we decided just to eat in the mall food court (Oh, to be 16 again!) Needless to say , we had lots of time left over to walk around the mall. We went into one Jewelery store, and I threw out a suggestion that maybe we should look for a ring for him. He really liked one, and the price was fairly reasonable. The woman wrote down the information for me, assuming I would come back later and buy it. However, we then went into another jewellery store, and we saw the same ring for almost half the price as the first one. DONE!, we said. He got sized, and I bought it for him then and there! Easy peasy! Glad that's one less thing we have to think about!

Officiant
We have had our officiant for a while, but now we're getting started planning what our ceremony will actually entail...We are using Kettle Creek Weddings, and Wayne Prevett is our officiant on the day. He seems very easy going, relaxed and outgoing, which I like. I really wish I would have someone who knows us better being able to marry us, but that isn't happening! lol....But I think things will go well with him. Their London Website is http://kcwlondon.com/ but they offer services all over Ontario...They're based in London, but they're marrying us out in Mississauga! Awesome!

Green
We changed our mind a whole bunch of times. From Destination wedding to a summer wedding, we changed to do a winter wedding, to take advantage of the winter deals so many vendors offer. The theme is gearing towards a green tree theme a bit. I always like rustic/natural, green, eco-friendly type things.
