did anyone buy their dresses based on picking it from a website without trying it on ..... if so did it work out??? I have my dream dress picked out from alfred angelo website and i have seen it in pictures of other peoples weddings but the dress store in my area does not have this dress in store to try on espically since I am a plus size woman they don't have many dresses to try on ......... I'm pretty sure the style is what i need and would look good on me ....but everyone says don't buy until you try it on ........what should i do??

I am plus size too.. I really felt it was important to try dresses on. After that I was able to see it on, take a picture of it on- then I ordered it online-got my shoes and veil free too-I saved $$ and stress because I knew my dress would fit!!
I hightly recommend trying on a dress with a corset back ,especially Maggie Sottero dresses. Every dress I tried on from her line I swear took 20 lbs off!

My sister got this EXACT dress for her wedding in August of 2008 she was a size 14 and it looked sooo good! She got a ton of compliments! The pic of her and my niece she has a green ribbon hanging down from her flowers (that isn't part of the dress) and the picture of her and my dad dancing the dress is bustled but you get the idea of what the back looks like too on a "REAL person" not just the model in the picture =)

I know that some brides have bought their dresses online, without ever trying it on. Irishpocahontas did, and had good luck.
I however, would not beable to do that. I'd be way too chicken something would go wrong.
When I was dress shopping, I traveled to just about every store in a two hour radius looking at different dresses. I ended up finding the perfect one in St.Louis MO (about 3 1/2 hours from me) The dress I found just happend to be one I had saw in a bridal magazine, but never thought I'd find it to try on.
Anyway, if you are comfortable buying one online- go for it! But depending on how many dresses you have tried on, you may want to try on a few more to make sure that is the look you want.

I did and it worked out perfectly for me as I dealt with a sweetheart, who helped me every step of the way and I got myself professionally measured also. I didnt try on any dresses and I bought all my dresses online they are all posted if you want a look.

I did! I also got an alfred angelo. My style was 1148. I wound up coloring my crinoline and the lacing in the back of my dress pink. It fit just fine. I followed the size guidelines and it was great. I took it to my seamstress to tweak it just perfectly and I couldn't have been happier with it!

After about 3 months of trying on dresses, I found my dress and veil today! I love my Mori Lee Go...
