DIY Wedding
So much to do!
Here is my list of everything I need to get done:
1. Guestlist...trying to keep it around 100 is hard! 2. Finally pick a dress..plus accessories (but I have a good idea on where I'm going with this) 3. Invitations, place cards, assigned seating, programs 4. buy table runners-black lace 5. flower petals-red and burgundy for the centerpieces 6. cake servers (you wouldn't think this would be difficult but I haven't found many that I like) 7. favors-I think we're doing donations, but I'd like to figure out a good creative way to tell my guests that in liu of favors, donations are being done. 8. Sorting out the wedding party, plus their attire 9. Purchasing FH's suit 10. Flowers (ugh) I want to do silk flower bouquets, so it can be done in advance. Any suggestions on this would be so appreciated! 11. Pick a photographer 12. Pick a DJ 13. Ceremony stuff-officiant, vows, readings, sand ceremony, arch? 14. details of honeymoon-We're going to germany but we need to have a plan of action, plus purchase everything for that 15. Wish tree I feel like I'm missing something...if there is anything you ladies notice that is left out, please let me know! We are doing our food and cake tasting in November (hoepfully) and I have been making a song list and also categorizing said songs into when I want them played. So much to do but I'm so excited!! |

Wedding Invitation
Save the Dates
So...last week I was searching around on vista print and they were having a sale on post cards. After looking around I found a design that I thought was totally cute and had the feeling I wanted for our wedding! The best part is, I got 100 postcards for FREE! Actually I had to spend like $3 on return address labels (that match) and roughly $10 for shipping (the cheapest, since I don't exactly need them right away). Well the part that got me the most excited is that it was supposed to take 21 days for them to send me my order. But I got an email saying to expect them TOMORROW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so freakin excited! Thank you Vistaprint ;) The picture shown is the vistaprint design that I decided. Love teh vintage feel and the black/ivory contrast. What do you ladies think?
BTW nothing feels better than seeing my countdown be lower than 365 days :) |

Ask a Question
Black table runners
Hey ladies,
I am looking high and low for black lace table runners. I know the picture shows a black lace table skirt, but unfortunately that's all I could even find in pictures! I plan on using these runners on my reception tables over ivory table cloths. I'll be using ivory cloth napkins. My centerpieces will be three different height votive candle holders (like in picture 2) and then will scatter red and burgundy flower petals. I'm not sure how I got obsessed with black lace table runners, but now I gotta have them! Any help or suggests would be much appreciated!! |

Officially getting started...
I've been away for so long!
But now, with 13 months to go, I am back at it and SO EXCITED! Friday we put a deposit on our venue, and that affirms that it's all really happening. So I've been on wedding mode all freakin weekend. So here are my thoughts so far on our wedding: I really want our wedding to be a celebration of us. Very informal, relaxed and just plain fun. Our venue is a local family owned resturaunt and hotel that has amazing food and really welcome atmosphere. It was important to me that we had it at a hotel so our guests, especially all of the out of towners had a place to stay afterwards. I know with an open bar I would be worried about people getting home. We are going to be doing a caberet style ceremony in our reception venue so people can have their drinks and hors dourves. This also made the most sense to me because I really wanted it all in one location. Plus the wedding will be in a college town on a football saturday....traffic will be crazy! Our venue is taking care of Food, 5 hour open bar, champagne toast for everyone, hor dourves, dance floor, table cloths, napkins and of course the dinner settings. They also let you pick out one of three table settings which I will use. The one that I'm going to use is three different height votive candle holders. I'm going to add red and burgundy flower petals all around and also try to find black lace table runners (these are actually quite hard to find, if anyone has any ideas I would LOVE to hear it!). The resturant also has a really good bakery chef who makes lovely cakes, so I think we may get our cake through her. I've tried on dresses but can't seem to make up my mind. I don't want anything super expensive, in fact I'd be happy with somethign around $200. I just want to look and feel beautiful. And comfortable lol...I am finding myself drawn to more fitting bodices and mermaid skirts, very va va voom. I am definitely going to find some hot red shoes! Right now my biggest headache is the guestlist. I just wanted roughly around 100 people, but right now our guest list is pushing 140. I'm thinking of doing an A list and Blist..so if anyone from the A list declines, I can invite someone from the Blist...anyone else doing something like that? SO MUCH TO THINK ABOUT!! But I'm so excited :) I am really glad to be back though! |

Wedding Rings And Jewelry
Our Bands
Before we got engaged we felt married...so we picked up bands for both of us to wear. It feels really special that both of us are wearing bands...it's been a year and it's so normal but at the same time I LOVE seeing him wear it! I've never been much of a diamond girl, so we've talked about getting our bands engraved for the ceremony.

The Proposal
The beginning
So after 6 1/2 years of being together, Alex and I have set a date, gotten each other "engagement bands" and are looking forward to continuing our happy life together. We met when we were 15, started dating at 17, and even went to prom together! Although our journey wasn't always easy, we've grown together and learned that we are worth fighting for. And here we are!
My birthday was last friday and he wouldn't let me have my band until then. So after a fantastic evening with amazing friends and good food, we came home where he got on one knee (surrounded by our doggies)! Completely perfect moment :) And so now I am here, after being referred to by one of my best friends after she had said this was such a great site! |
