Finished the favor boxes. What a pain....but they actually turned out pretty cute. Mom happen to hit a sale buy 2 get 2 free on hershey kisses, so we filled the boxes with various hershey kisses flavors, truffle, carmel, white chocolate & cherry. Also, had to finish wrapping ribbon around all the vases. The bachelorette party was last night and we had so much fun! Of course...my stupid battery charger was missing and my camera died..so I only got to take a few pics.

FREE TEMPLATE FOR PLACE CARDS!!! - And directions how to make these on Open Office Draw. http://www.weddingbycolor.com/dd977chic/milestones/18938 http://www.weddingbycolor.com/dd977chic/milestones/18938 Fri, 01 Aug 2008 04:38:00 PST
So I have been getting emails about the other template I used for the place cards. The other graphic is nice but I thought I would make a new version. This morning I made a different versions using Open Office Draw.
(DIRECTIONS BELOW HOW TO MAKE YOUR OWN USING YOUR FAVORITE GRAPHIC!!!)
If you are interested in these I will send them to you. You MUST download Open Office (it's free) for the program to work. http://www.openoffice.org/ After you download it, shoot me an email and I will send them to you! (The Damask Versions on the Left) You will be able to print out 6 cards per page. ALSO..., even thought you might not be doing a damask background Below are instructions how to insert YOUR OWN IMAGE/BACKGROUND....cool huh!!!! I made some other examples...see pics <----------------. (NOTE: I will be gone in Michigan from August 4th- August 19th...soo I might not be able to email them to you...since I will be probably busy doing my own wedding stuff!) Directions: (make sure you have a graphic already saved on your computer that you would like to insert.) After downloading Open Office.....open up open office DRAW: FIRST-right click and go to Page Setup. On the Page tab...make the orientation LANDSCAPE. -On the very bottom there is a tool bar: BASIC SHAPE. (next to a smiley face). -find the shape to make a rectangle. I made the cards about 3 inches wide and 4 inches tall. YOUR BOX WILL BE A BLUE COLOR!!!!!!!!!!!! -Right Click and go to : "AREA"...on the very far right...click on the BITMAP tab. -Click on IMPORT button Insert your favorite graphic you would like to use. If you dont want to use a graphic you can go back to the colors and insert a different color in the box. -Click on okay...and it should fill in the box with your new graphic. -You can right click again...and click on the Box Checked on ORIGINAL and it will sometimes make the graphic appear smaller...which may look better....and gives it a tiled effect. It takes some practice to use this program...but its pretty awesome!

While shopping for my mom's dress for the wedding. I found some wonderful bargains!!!!!!!!!!! Party City: is having huge clearance...bunch of stuff 50 cents each. I got these cute invitations that I thought would be perfect for my baby shower...lol... I also bought some crayons really cheap for the kids table. Ross: At almost every Ross and TJ Max, I would find something that was damask. At one Ross I happen to find a really cute Damask photo album for $6. Burlington Coat Factory:They have green damask table cloth sets in many different sizes. Each package comes with one table cloth and 10 napkins for only $14.99. I only bought two of them. I am planning to use these green table cloths with the damask runners that my mom and I picked up at Hobby Lobby a month ago. I am using white table cloths on the other tables.
I decided to use my DAMASK FRAMES.(the frames I found at Tuesday Mornings)..one as the cocktail menu. As you can see its a pretty limited menu....this is because at my brothers wedding people were getting carried away...I really wanted some more drinks and I was bummed about it at first...but I think it will be enough...since most of the people that are coming are beer drinkers anyway. The Polaroid/Picture Guest Book pages: creat on Open Office Draw. I will probably cut them in half so people can write on them. Then one of my friends will take pictures of the guests. Then when I print the pictures out I will place their picture according to their names.

Went to bunch of stores today with my mom and ran into some damask stuff at TJ Max. Added 3 bowls to my damask collection that I had bought at Hobby Lobby a month ago. This project was so tedious because I printed out the damask on cardstock and had to overlap the patterns to match. My back hurts from hunching over the last 5 hours. I think I burned myself with the hot glue gun like 5 times. PLus, I really didn't follow any directions...I just used trial and error...(read suggestions part) .Anyway, I bought $50 worth of stuff from Joann's Fabric. I also bought vellum paper, but did not use it, going to return them. Everything is styrofoam! So for traveling purposes its not all put together yet. A stick will go down the middle so everything stays in place. Also, I bought little bows with rhinestones to place on the front on each tier. I probably wont put those on until I bring all my stuff to Michigan.
SUGGESTIONS; I placed the graphics on top of old gift wrapping boxes that i cut out to match the top part of the foam. I HIGHLY suggest you decopauge the graphic to some type of card board, THEN after you let it dry, hot glue or use spray glue to attach the graphic & cardboard to the top of the styrofoam. Then you can smooth it out with your hand so it doesnt bubble up. I learned that if you glue the cardboard first then decopage the graphic it bubbles up...so I had to peel the cardboard off and reglue and that was a pain!. I used black cardstock and placed it under each flat styrofoam tier. Then I place white ribbon around the tier and then placed black ribbon on top of the white ribbon. I use black card stock to wrap the all the styrofoam squares. I cut the top black styrofoam square to be smaller. The black cardstock was on sale .16/ 6 for .96 cents. (Joann Fabrics)

Mom and I went to Hobby Lobby yesterday in my home town and found three damask runners on clearance!!!! Best yet they are double sided!!! So they can be pulled apart to make 6 runners! Along with that we found the damask platters and plates. We then traveled to two more hobby lobby's. We didnt find more runners but we found some other awesome finds! I am planning to travel to 1 or 2 more hobby lobby's tomorrow to see if I can find more! Today we are going to do flowers, cake, and look at the venue and do some planning. It's been a busy but very fun week back here in Michigan!

Dress: Mary's Bridal:Unspoken Romance Collection
The dress came in today. Hence the wrinkles from it being stuffed in a small box. I tried to put it on myself and it was difficult to zip up and i ended up cutting my finger and got a few spots of blood on my dress. WHOOPS! Quickly got the blood off using a little detergent. So I have about 10-15 pounds to loose to make it look awesome on me. Mostly belly fat ....so I see lots of crunches in my future. I forgot how much silver detailing is on the dress. Now I remember why I loved this dress... the top of the dress rocks and my boobs look great in this top! I FRICKEN LOVE IT!
If anyone wants to save money on a dress...I definately recommend ordering from House of Brides. In one bridal store this dress was $980. I saved $400 bucks and bought it for $560 (including shipping).

Bought white tote bags and transfer sheets at Michaels. Made totes for each of the girls with a damask background. I will probably fill it with various things such as: hairspray, perfume, flipflops, journal, rubberbands, etc. Edit: to make the damask background I made it by down loading Open Office, then after the program was downloaded...I used Open Office Draw. This program allows you to import graphics and insers them to make a background. I will offer this graphic to anyone but they must download Open Office (it's free)!!!!! http://download.openoffice.org/

DIY INVITATION MAPS - instructions to make map using powerpoint http://www.weddingbycolor.com/dd977chic/milestones/13359 http://www.weddingbycolor.com/dd977chic/milestones/13359 Wed, 11 Jun 2008 18:37:00 PST 1. Know the addresses of your ceremony and reception 2. Go to Yahoo Maps and enter your ceremony address as point A and your reception as point B. 3. Click on Go and make sure your map is centered the way you want it. 4. Click on Printable Version 5. Click on Map Only in the new open window 6. Right click the map and click on save picture as. Save the map to your computer. 7. Open Powerpoint and clear out a slide to work on. Then, go to Insert–>picture–>from file (the picture being the map you saved earlier) 8. Then basically you trace the key parts of the map you want on your wedding map. On the bottom toolbar click on Autoshapes–>Lines–>Freeform. Now you have your tracing tool. Adjust thickness of the line by clicking on the icon Line Style (the icon with the lines with different thicknesses). I usually trace the outline of the map first using a slightly thicker line (2 and 1/4 pt is a good thickness). Start at the edge of the map outline and trace the outline of the map until you need to curve, then just click on your mouse. Then continue to trace until you need to curve again, then just click the mouse. You can click as many times as you want to, to get a more accurate trace. 9. Next, trace the important streets using the same Freeform line and a slightly thinner Line Style. Maybe a 1 pt for major streets and a 3/4 pt for smaller streets. 10. When you’re done, just delete the original map picture by clicking on it and pressing delete. 11. You can change colors by clicking on Font color (haha). Add shapes by using Autoshapes and text by using the text box. You can also add clipart by going to Insert–>Picture–>Clip art. Basically, this is where your creative juices need to start flowing. Can’t help you with that….well….I probably could. Ask a Question - WHO IS DOING A BLACK AND WHITE WEDDING? (with a color) http://www.weddingbycolor.com/dd977chic/milestones/12117 http://www.weddingbycolor.com/dd977chic/milestones/12117 Sun, 01 Jun 2008 15:17:00 PST
Just wondering which brides are having a black & white themed wedding? Especially the people who are using toile, damask, vintage & baraoque type of fabrics & graphics. I know a few of the regulars who are on here doing them but I am thinking I am missing out on more blogs that I don't know about. I am not necessary using too much green in my wedding. Just in some of the decor and the flowers. So holler if you are doing mostly a black and white theme!!!

Decoration - Started to work on the Crystal Tree Project http://www.weddingbycolor.com/dd977chic/milestones/11948 http://www.weddingbycolor.com/dd977chic/milestones/11948 Fri, 30 May 2008 15:39:00 PST
So I started to make crystal strands for the crystal wedding tree. I got a few branches from around the house so I could get an idea how long to make the strands. I bought my stuff from Michaels. I found the clear sparkling gems by the glue guns. I made about 22 strands or so using only one box. ($5 a box) Then I bought acrylic beads. Some I put 50 beads per each strand, but I think they are too long. So I made some with 20 & 35 beads on each strand and I like them better. I only went through about 1 1/2 boxes of the beads. ($3 per box) The wire was only $2 and was by the glue guns. Silver Paint ($5) I am probably going to make a total of 45 strands for the tree and also put flowers in the tree very similar to the "inspiration picture" I am probably not going to use these branches in the picture because I have to transport everything from Florida to Michigan in my tiny little car. Day 2: (5/31/08) I was up bright and early this morning fixing and adding more strands. I made most of the strands with 30 beads on each strand. Some I made smaller with about 20 beads on each strand. This took me about 1 1/2 hours. Then I cut the branches off the tree to make it shorter. I counted about 33 or so strands on the tree. I might make a few more... but I dont want to over do it! I decided to take apart a silk flower arrangement I had so I could see how the flowers would look on it. I love how the orange blossoms pop! I am probably going to use green and white flowers on the tree for me wedding. It looks nice in the pictures... but it looks really cool in person! So I would suggest to make this project on your own you should buy: 2 boxes of sparkling gems 2 boxes of 6mm beads I would suggest putting about 20-30 beads on each strand if you are planning to hang it from a medium size tree.
