Started to work on the Crystal Tree Project

So I started to make crystal strands for the crystal wedding tree. I got a few branches from around the house so I could get an idea how long to make the strands. I bought my stuff from Michaels.

I found the clear sparkling gems by the glue guns. I made about 22 strands or so using only one box. ($5 a box)

Then I bought acrylic beads. Some I put 50 beads per each strand, but I think they are too long. So I made some with 20 & 35 beads on each strand and I like them better. I only went through about 1 1/2 boxes of the beads. ($3 per box)

The wire was only $2 and was by the glue guns.

Silver Paint ($5)

I am probably going to make a total of 45 strands for the tree and also put flowers in the tree very similar to the "inspiration picture"

I am probably not going to use these branches in the picture because I have to transport everything from Florida to Michigan in my tiny little car.

Day 2: (5/31/08) I was up bright and early this morning fixing and adding more strands. I made most of the strands with 30 beads on each strand. Some I made smaller with about 20 beads on each strand. This took me about 1 1/2 hours. Then I cut the branches off the tree to make it shorter. I counted about 33 or so strands on the tree. I might make a few more... but I dont want to over do it! I decided to take apart a silk flower arrangement I had so I could see how the flowers would look on it. I love how the orange blossoms pop! I am probably going to use green and white flowers on the tree for me wedding. It looks nice in the pictures... but it looks really cool in person!

So I would suggest to make this project on your own you should buy:
2 boxes of sparkling gems
2 boxes of 6mm beads

I would suggest putting about 20-30 beads on each strand if you are planning to hang it from a medium size tree.
