Florist Mock Up - Submerged Flowers
I had my mock up with the florist a few days ago to look at the reception centerpieces and I absolutely love them. The colors work really well together and will be perfect for our spring wedding. There are 2 different table set ups...one with 5 vases, the other with 3. I'm so happy we went with the submerged flowers...it fit our budget, looks really sleek, and is not heavily scented.

Happy planning ladies!

Wedding Invitation
Invitations have been sent!
The invites have been ordered, put together, and mailed out!!! Woohoo!!! We ordered them from exclusivelyweddings.com and got a great deal since they always have coupons. The invites went extremely well with our wedding theme. The price was great because it included the rsvp and an additional card. All features of the invite could be customized and we paid an extra $7 to have a pdf proof sent to us. We used the additional card to include directions to the venue. On the rsvp card we asked guests to go to our website instead of mailing it back in or to call for our older family members. At first we planned to DIY invites, but this was a great time and energy saver. We are paying for our site, so I figured we might as well get our money's worth and save on postage. A couple of guests have already rsvp'd and have called us to say how easy the process was, so I'm glad we went that route. Our website is through weddingwindow.com and I highly recommend if you are looking to make a very customized website.

We created our own labels and seals using a monogram my FH made. The small cards at the bottom include the hotel information and the dates that the room blocks close. Our wedding is during graduation weekend (we live a big college town) and its super important that people reserve their rooms now!

Happy planning ladies!!!

Wedding Decoration
Broom & Cake Topper
Took some time over the weekend to decorate the broom that we will jump over and to bling out the cake topper. It all took maybe 30 minutes, with some ribbon, flowers, jewels, and my hot glue gun. I purchased the broom from Michael's for $2-3.

Cake Inspiration
We're getting ready for a consultation with a local baker, so these are the pics I'm giving to her as our inspiration. I would like for the damask pattern to be included, but not on each layer (don't want it to be too much). I know that damask is a classic pattern, but I'm hoping that she can still put a modern or contemporary twist on it.

Happy planning and Happy New Year ladies!!!

Ask a Question
Rehearsal Dinner Plans???
Hey ladies...I'm having some difficulties trying to decide what to do for the rehearsal dinner. FH and I have discussed trying to have something very low-key and informal since the wedding will be at a country club. We were leaning towards having a cookout at one of our friend's home who has a large backyard. This way everyone could mingle and start meeting each other before the wedding.

The issue is...both sides of our families are traveling for the wedding. I know the dinner should be mainly for the bridal party and immediate family...but when almost EVERYONE is traveling, its difficult to decide who should come and not end up with half the wedding guests being there (especially when we're paying for this as well). Our other idea was to just go and make reservations at a restaurant, but our wedding is happening during the college graduation weekend (2 big schools here...smh) so most places are already booked solid.

What are you guys doing for the rehearsal dinner? Anyone having a similar issue? Any cost-efficient ideas? Thanks ladies!

Wedding Hair Style
Headbands
I have no clue what I'm going to do with my hair for the wedding. I stopped perming my hair over a year ago and have been naturally curly ever since. My hair is typically a huge curly fro that my FH loves. The only thing I'm sure about is that I don't want to straighten...with the humidity and an outdoor ceremony, my hair would curl right back up lol.

I found these headbands at my bridal shop and love them both. The first one is definitely a statement piece, which I love. The second one goes really well with my sash, but doesn't give as much of the wow factor. FH wants me to wear my hair out big and curly sort of like the 3rd pic...

Which headband would you go with???

Save the Date...
Late post...
So we sent these out several months ago, but I just realized that I never posted them. I just wanted to add these to maybe give someone else some inspiration. You can add up to 6 pics, but we decided to add the damask pics in to bring in the theme. The quality is really great and glossy just like a photo. It was FH's idea to do a postcard to save on $ by not needing envelopes and cheaper postage. Everyone really liked them and lots of our friends have them posted in their homes. The only downside is that most people got so caught up looking at the pics on front, they didn't realize there was a message on the back that included the wedding website...smh.

Oh well...we ordered these from Wedding Paper Divas, and I must say that I was very pleased. The turn around time was super quick and we got 125 cards for $89 (including postage).

Wedding Rings And Jewelry
My Band :)
We picked out my band last weekend and I'm so excited about it. Kay's was having a really good sale, so FH and I decided to stop by. We got his band a few months ago, so I was so happy that it was my turn. I fell in love with this band and all of the bling! I really didn't need much more (my ring is the 2nd pic) and was just looking for a single band of princess cut diamonds. Of course, my reaction was drastically different for the two...lol. The only crappy part is that they had to send off my engagement ring as well to make sure they would fit into each other appropriately. My hand feels so naked after almost a year of wearing this thing. I keep thinking I took it off somewhere. They should both be back early next week...too bad I have to wait 4 more months before I can wear the band...lol.

Guest book
Scrapbook/Guest book
I decided that I didn't want to do a traditional guest book. I love scrapbooking, so I though it would be cool to make the guest book a scrapbook that we could have after the wedding for all the well wishes. Guests will leave their notes on little cards that will be added to the scrapbook after the wedding when we get the pics back from our photographer. That way, we'll have a nice scrapbook and a way to remember what our guests said as opposed to just signatures.

I thought at first that we would have our hostesses take pictures of the guests so we would have pics of everyone to put by their well-wishes...but that may prove to be too much of a hassle in the end. The photographer pics will suffice...

I bought the scrapbook and damask paper from Michael's. I'm thinking I may get some letters to add "Guest book" or "Well Wishes" to the front? Opinions??? I'll also reprint the first page on nice paper so the edges won't be all uneven from my cutting...lol. What are your guest book ideas?!?

Wedding Flowers
I Love Submerged Flowers!!!
I am not a flower person at all. I have allergies, so I don't like any that are strongly scented. I really don't even like to be given flowers because they wilt so quickly. I love the sleek look of submerged flowers. They look pretty, but you don't have to worry about sneezing all over the place either...lol. I'm also hoping this route will help to minimize the amount we spend on flowers. FH and I are meeting with a florist next week and I think I'm going to share these pics with her for inspiration.

Anyone else using submerged flowers in their reception centerpieces???
