Alright, so here it goes..
Geoff and I had been planning on getting engaged for a while, and I was lucky enough to figure out that it was this summer (just didn't know when or how). After just getting back from camping at a local KOA Kampground, Geoff had asked me if I wanted to go off with him to our new favourite resort called Carriage Hills Resort in Horseshoe Valley. Of course I immediately said yes, but began to wonder why we were going away so soon after we just technically had a 'getaway'. In the back of my mind I thought, this could be it; but due to the helpful misleadings of my mother who actually told me that Geoff might not be ready to get engaged at this point, I had second guessed my original inkling, and off to the resort we went. We arrived at the resort at approximately 4:00pm on July 9th, 2009 (Geoff chose 7/9/2009 because he was born on the 7th and I was born on the 9th of December). Geoff went to check in at the front desk (to completely throw me off, as he had already checked in 4 hours prior to set up the room) and I waited in the car. When we drove up to our room (they're in like mini condos), Geoff pretty much told me to go get the bags as he would unlock the door (at that point I was like, are you kidding me, lol, I have to pick up my own bags on our 'getaway'??) but I did so anyway and met him in front of our door. He then out of nowhere told me to close my eyes and my heart beat sped up.. now something was totally happening. With the biggest grin ever, I closed my eyes agreeingly. Geoff opened the door and guided me in; I, of course was resistant as I had no idea (well pretty much) what lay ahead. Geoff told me to open my eyes, and to my pure delight, the entire room was covered in rose pedals, leaving a path on the floor, some on the bed, and on the tables. I also noticed a string of 12 cards from one end of the room (hanging from the ceiling) to the other. At that point, I started jumping up and down fanatically because once again, my original gut feeling was proving to be right. After Geoff calmed me down, he asked me to begin at the very first card and read them out loud one by one - he said that he would meet me at the end of the string; as I began reading, I noticed they were all dated and happened to be the milestones/best moments in our relationship from the day we met, up until now. By the third card which described the night we first said we loved each other, I was bawling. I knew what was to come. It was so hard to continue reading because everything around became so hazy and dream-like, it was perfect. I finally made it to the last card which simply said "last but not least", it was then that Geoff handed me a red rose from behind his back and began to describe the meaning behind that color of rose and how it related to us, he continued to do this with two other roses, a purple and a pink one, and I was growing only more nervous and excited. After the rose descriptions, Geoff reached his hand into his pocket and pulled out a black velevt looking box. As my heart felt as if it was going to burst through my chest, Geoff knelt down on one knee.. and I was pretty much shaking at the point. Geoff said a beautiful speech about how I have completed his life and how he couldn't imagine his world without me (the usual proposal stuff!), and then asked me to make him the happiest man in the world by becoming his wife (as he opened the box).. and after about 20 seconds of crying and laughing I said "of course I'll marry you"!! - and the rest is history!
