What will your wedding mean to you?


DH and I will be celebrating our anniversary of marriage on our wedding day and I am hoping that our wedding will be filled with the emotion I anticipate it to have. The first time around it was just the 2 of us, and this time we will have over 200 friends and family. We will also be getting married in the church. A part of me is a little bit saddened that when we are announced "husband and wife" that I won't find the joy in that I hope to feel because the back of my mind I know I'm already his wife. Even things like not letting him see me in my dress the day of the wedding, which I would love to do, seems like a pointless tradition for the already married couple. I guess I've just been trying to find the underlying heartfelt emotion in our wedding day. I just don't want it to feel like a "party", and hope that although I know we're already husband and wife, having everyone that we love around us to celebrate the strength in our marriage thus far will be the sentiment I hope to experience on that day.

I had a friend in the same exact situation.  She still kept him from seeing the dress.  They had a beautiful ceremony and reception.  You can decide any tradition you want and do whatever feels right to you.  The difference is that you will now have friends and family there to help you celebrate. FH and I will be renewing our vows in a Church on the anniversary of our first year together (first time we plan on using a JOP on a mountain).  I think you will still feel that emotion because you are going through the motions and once again devoting your love to one another, this time with witnesses.  Have fun and remember do what makes you feel good.  Renewal or not...it's still your day!

Our wedding is actually a year and a day after we first got married. My husband and I eloped and got married at the Chicago courthouse six months ago tomorrow so that I would be covered under his health insurance. I'm still really excited to share our big day with our family and friends but already being married I feel like the pressure is off for it to be "perfect" so we can relax and have a fun wedding.
