Ask a Question
Where can I get wedding verse's for my aisle runner?

Tomorrow, I plan on ordering a custom made aisle runner for the wedding. I need the runner be very long, so it will have enough space for at least 3 places to put wording. I am going to have one of our monograms om it, of course but, I have to pick a wedding verse to put in the middle of the runner. Where can I get a wedding verse from? I need several to choose from and they dont have to be very long. If you girls have some please send them to me or direct me to a website, where I can find them.

I got 'em.....
....I got the blue cherries!

So today, I didnt do any Christmas Shopping, (yeah for me) I did run a few errands and I stopped by a liquor store to see if they had the blue cherries and guess what? They did! I bought that last two jars. The jars are kinda small but it looks like they hold between 20-30 cherries. It was $3.30 for each, and Of course I bought me some wine, just because....Moscato Allegro ....is the best!

Take a look ladies tell me what you think, I took a couple of pictures for you........

The Flavor is wildberry for the blue one's. The cherries do taste like a berry, not sure if it's really wildberry or a mixture of different berry flavors. They are really sweet. It kinda reminds me of raspberry because it is so sweet. I am definately buying these for my wedding, I already talked to the coordinator and she said it was ok to bring them in. I am going to buy a gallon of them, then when we have our champagne toast every one will have blue cherry in their glass, YEAH!

Ask a Question
What are you most Thankful for?

Happy Thanksgiving! As we all sit down at the dinner table with family and friends, ready to eat all that turkey and desserts.....it's a wonder how we manage to eat it all. A question comes to mind as to what I am most Thankful for ? Today, I can say I am most thankful for my family. I am blessed to have a large family that deeply cares about me, I am thankful for my career, I am thankful for the part time jobs I was able to land (in the midst of layoffs and a bad economy). I am truly blessed and thankful for the beautiful daughter that I have, and finally I am thankful to have a loving fiance on my side, who truly loves me for me.

What are you most thankful for?

Flowergirl Dress
....her dress came in today!

OMG! today, I got my daughter's dress. Oh it's so nice and beautiful. She tried it on but she wouldn't let me take pictures of her in it. It seems to be the right size but it may need to be taken in a bit because she is so skinny. She looks like a little bride. She wanted to hurry up and take the dress off so Mario wouldn't see her. She did ask me about having a pool blue sash, I told her we are just going to have to work on that but, we will have it for her in the end.

I have to order her shoes now!.

Colored Nail Tips
just to match your wedding color.....

These are colored nail tips. There are so many colors now, that one of then will definantely match your wedding color. You know when you go to the nail shop and they ask if you want a french manicure and they normally give you plain white tips, then they drill and buff them to make them shine. These are colored nail tips so now you can get a french manicure in any color and not have to worry about the polish chipping off. I saw some of the colors at the nail shop I go to and I saw the turquoise one which look just like tiffany blue. Right now I am wearing purple pearl and people have told me it's a pretty color, but when I say it's the nail tips, they say huh? Then I have to explain that they have colored nail tips now and its a lot easier to maintain. The only polish you have to use with these is clear. I am already thinking about taking my niece to get her nails done like this for my wedding. Do you think I should get the turquoise nail tips also, or just stick with white pearl for the wedding day?

Things Remembered
Flutes & Servers

I got my Bridal guide magazine and I saw the Flute and Server set that I want, well, I must have these. The picture in the magazine is so great, it really shows how much Bling, Bling these items really have, I went online to get pictures to show you but, theses pictures dont show off the crystals as much. These are from Things Remembered, they have wonderful keepsake items especially for weddings. I think they offer free personalization with these so you can get your names and wedding date engraved on them. These sets are $65 each. Do you think they will go on sale? I hope so. Also, they are giving a 20% off coupon (code 2503) that doesnt expire until June 14, 2009. I am going to look and see if I can find a better coupon code for them. And you get free shipping if you spend over $100, they come in a keepsake box. I thought this was a great deal. With the coupon the total is $104, just enough for free shipping. Or, if you have the coupon out of the magazine you can take it to the store and bump the shipping.

I heard of other brides spending $300 to $400 on just flutes and just servers. Well, let me go the low route and show off the bling!

Bridesmaids
this is the shoe I picked for my bm's

I finally made a decision on the shoes I want my bridesmaids to wear, I think it will accent the dress perfectly. The tiffany theme comes into play and it has a little bling on it. The heel isnt too high so my girls can get our there and dance if they want to. It's not expensive either and I told them to shop for it online b.c they may be able to find it cheaper. They may not have to because shoebuy.com is offering $20 off all shoes over $50 plus free shipping. Hey, I emailed it to my girls, lets see if they take advantage of it.

Reception
What about the unexpected problems?

You've been one dutiful duo preparing for every possible wedding-day catastrophe, from red wine hitting white silk to the nightmare of the no-show vendor. Think you've got every last detail crossed off your list? Maybe not! There are some difficult to anticipate problems out there -- but you don't have to worry, because we're giving you the heads up.

Wild Child

The Problem: Your child attendants and young cousins: so angelic during the ceremony, so C-R-A-Z-Y after overindulging in your sugary wedding cake. Kids will be kids -- but that doesn't mean they must be screaming, crying, and racing around a formal reception.

The Solution: You can put them in tiny gowns and tuxedos, but you definitely can't force them to uphold a formal atmosphere. If you're inviting kids to your celebration, you have to understand they might not make it through without getting rambunctious. That said, there are some great ways to keep them from knocking things over and making a mess.

Damp Dress Distress

The Problem: It's the morning of and it's raining. The ceremony and reception are being held inside -- but first, the bride has to get there in her voluminous princess-style gown. You could throw a tarp over her or roll her up in a carpet, but we've got a more stylish option.

The Solution: No couple wishes for rain on their wedding day, though we hear it is considered good luck. If you're worried you're going to get lucky (even if it's not in the forecast), consider packing a golf umbrella. Why? It's the only cover large enough to get the bride from the limo to the church to the reception to the hotel without letting raindrops mar her gown. And besides, some of our all-time favorite wedding photos are of newlyweds smooching beneath an umbrella big enough for two.

Think & Drink

The Problem: You know it's a successful party when you start running really low on supplies -- especially liquor. Everyone's had a good time, but everyone might not be fit to drive. What do you do about that?

The Solution: You already know that lots of responsible brides and grooms book buses or shuttles to ferry guests back and forth from reception to hotel. What you might not know is that you may need more runs than you think. While no one's going to say they require a ride prewedding, after a few too many cocktails they might. A couple more bus runs will ensure you've got a seat for everyone to get home safely.

Not-So-Fresh Picked

The Problem: The main course hasn't even been served, and your flowers are already starting to wilt. It happens to the best of flowers -- a lot more often than you think.

The Solution: Brown might be a hot wedding color right now, but not for flowers. When you're shopping around, stick to hardy blooms that don't bruise easily and can go the distance (especially if you're marrying in a particularly hot or humid place). Sunflowers, gerbera daisies, dahlias, lilies, and hydrangeas are all reasonably safe bets -- their woody stems and slightly tough petals will last longer than other varieties and hide their age. Avoid super-soft flowers like gardenias, lilies of the valley, and tulips, which are more likely to wilt in the spotlight.

If you simply must have these blooms, take preventative action. Your florist should take care of properly cutting and feeding the flowers, but you can help prolong their lives by keeping them away from radiators and other sources of heat -- including windows with southern exposure. Also, if you're providing the vases or containers for your centerpieces, be sure that they've been washed with an antibacterial soap so that nothing in your vessels is promoting decay.

The Paper Chase

The Problem: When you chose your vendors, you dotted your i's, crossed your t's, and got it all in writing -- except for all those little details you worked out over the phone as you changed your mind and renegotiated. A savvy move -- at least until it's time to pay the bills and you're scrambling to remember exactly how much they said each different bit would cost. You don't want to spend more than you planned, but how do you deal with everything you didn't get on paper?

The Solution: Finish what you started. No matter how small, no matter how nit-picky, get it all in writing. If you don't want to deal with asking a vendor to amend the contract every time you make a verbal change, simply follow up your phone conversation with a quick email confirming what was just said. It doesn't have to be elaborate -- a simple note saying, for example, "Thanks for taking the time to chat with me earlier about the new menu ideas. I just wanted to confirm that the price of the beef filet for 150 would be X." Save copies of your messages and replies, compile them, and give the stack to a family member to bring to the reception (or summarize in one email and ask the vendor to okay it). That way, there will be no question or argument when the time comes to pay your vendors.

Guests Gone AWOL

The Problem: The ceremony's over, time for the cocktail hour. Delicious hors d'oeuvres, fabulous drinks...but where are the guests? Arriving in scattered clumps and clusters, still disoriented from the trek between ceremony and reception site -- oh no!

The Solution: Unless your ceremony and reception site are one and the same, you're going to have to deal with the logistics of getting guests around. This doesn't have to mean splurging for a bus -- as long as everyone has directions. Sure, you might have sent that adorable map with your save-the-dates, but how many guests brought it with them?

To avoid having to assemble a last-minute motorcade or having anyone muss up their keepsake map, include brief directions to your reception site at the very end of your wedding program. If you're not keen on that idea, print directions on small, separate sheets. When the ceremony concludes, the same helpful folks who handed out your programs can head to the back once again to give guests the directions as they recess -- leaving you with zero guests lost or late.

Let There Be Light

The Problem: Little can beat a reception site with amazing sunset views -- unless guests are blinded by it. Same goes for candlelight receptions overwhelmed by natural light. Who knew what all those windows could do!

The Solution: Don't fall out of love with your reception site's great view -- simply arrange to see it at the time of day that your wedding will take place. If you know that there will be a lot of light (or just a little), you can plan your lighting accordingly. Remember that the season will affect light too. Worried it will be too bright? Rent sheer, colorful drapes or simply hang fabric so the sun can still shine in -- it'll just tone it down a bit. Will your sunny site be too dark come evening? Turn low lighting into mood lighting with strategically placed candles.

Gimme Shelter

The Problem: The great outdoors is a great spot for a wedding. The flora, the fauna...the skies opening up and pouring rain minutes before the start to the ceremony -- but naturally, now you're ready for that one with umbrellas. But what about other complications?

When it comes to hosting an outdoor wedding, having a plan B is just as important as having a plan A. And it doesn't just stop with renting a tent. Once you're covered, solving one problem may create another, such as guests coming in out of the rain and tracking mud with them.

The Solution: Unless the bride plans on holding her hemline aloft for hours, go with plan C: clean 'em up! When you're talking to your tent company or reserving your reception site, confirm with the vendors that they have mats that can be set up at entryways or around the perimeter so that guests can wipe their feet. That way, if the skies are threatening, you can just remind your wedding coordinator or deputize a family member to get things all laid out. It'll ensure your dance floor stays spotless.

Dancing in the Dark

The Problem: Is someone turning down the lights on your romantic, candlelit reception? No, wait, it's actually the candles that are burning out! Yikes!

The Solution: You don't want your wicks to wear out before you do, so when you're shopping for reception decor start by picking up one each of a few different candles. On a day when you'll be home for a while (we know you know, but never leave burning candles unattended), light them all at the same time -- on the hour works best, since it'll be easiest to remember -- and see how long they burn. You need not sit there and watch, just check periodically to see how far they've made it. Once you know your votives, tapers, or columns can cut it through drinks, dinner, dancing and, of course, your grand departure, you're safe to buy the quantity you'll actually need. And you'll be all set to light up the night.

How should I wear my hair?

I found several hairstyles that could be good for me on my wedding day? Most of the time, I add extensions into my hair to make it fuller and longer than what it really is so, I'll be doing that also on my wedding day but, how should I wear my hair? I am not sure now, I was also thinking about wearing it up like the pic of Keysha Cole, she has a real pretty up do. I got to make sure I have a great hairstyle on the big day.........

4 months to go!
wow, time is flying by......

As of Today, I have 4 months left until the wedding! yeah! I am saying yeah b.c i feel like I am ready to get this over with and just enjoy the married life with my husband. Now, I dont mean to sound negative but I am getting tired of dealing with everybody else's attitude about "MY" wedding, oh and it's my understanding that none of my bridesmaids have ordered their dresses yet, but, I am going to check with them this weekend to see if they did or not, apparently they think we have all the time in the world to do this, but we dont.

Here is what my agenda should be:

____Send save-the-date announcements or call out of town guests to let them know the final date, time, and location of the wedding.

____If you're purchasing wedding favors, do so now

____Start planning your rehearsal dinner. Give the host(s) your guest list

____Examine your beauty regimen. Read Five months to perfect wedding day beauty

____If your caterer isn't doing it for you, reserve any rental equipment you'll need, including dishes, tables, chairs, linens, tents

____Register for gifts

____Select your wedding cake designer, and order your wedding cake

____Arrange wedding transportation

____Order stationery

____Select a calligrapher, if you're using one

____Select the groom's tuxedo or other attire, what the groomsmen will wear, and arrange to purchase or rent

____Purchase your wedding rings

____Book wedding night accommodations and accommodations for out-of-town guests

____Buy gifts for your wedding party, parents, and each other.

Where can I get my bridal shoes dyed?

Besides going to david's bridal and alfred angelo, where else can I get bridal shoes dyed? You girls helped a lot by letting me know so many other places I cant get bridal shoes from, but now I need to know where can I get them dyed at. Just curious to know because I feel like this is the only way I will be able to get bridal shoes in the color I want. I also found a cute pair for my daughter and I want to have hers dyed to. I think it would be great to see her dressed like me with shoes to match, in the same color!

Why do dyeable shoes costs so much?

Since, I am in search of a shoes that will match my wedding color for my big day, I am considering looking at dyeable wedding shoes. So since I looked for these today, I just want to know why dyeable shoes costs so much? I mean really, come on? Why would I pay so much for shoes that are pretty plain to begin with, then have to go pay for them to be dyed and be glad to spend my money like that. I'm just not feeling it, so it's back to square one. Since it's fall, a lot of stores don't have light colored shoes any more so I'll just have to keep looking online.
Any suggestions?

Is Anyone going to seeTyler Perry's new play?

Tyler Pery has a new play out and I want to go see it. It's called the Marriage Counselor. It is coming to Houston the week before Thanksgiving. I want to take my fiance, and when I looked up the tickets they were all over $100 each, starting at $130. Uh, i guess you got to be rich these days in order to go see one these plays. We have been to a couple of these a few years back and the tickets didnt nearly cost this much. WTF?!!!

I looked up another place that listed the tickets much cheaper, about $50 each but, they didnt have any available, it said to check back closer to the show. Oh well, I guess we'll just go to the movies and we'll wait to see this on DVD.

Tiffany & Co bags
do they have to say tiffany & co.?

A nice lady emailed me about the tiffany bags that I posted. She wanted to know where I got them from and how she could order some. I told her she could check out ioffer.com, I actually did order a few bags from them because I wanted to see how they looked, and I was not pleased with ioffer.com, the bags were actually a sea-green color, not tiffany, they are not authentic and the color was just wrong. She gave me a site where I can buy bags wholesale, the color is a glossy teal but it looks perfect.

So instead of thinking that I need bags that actually say tiffany & co. on the side of them. Instead I have decided I want plain bags and I will put a wedding favor tag on them with a monogram. This is more work on my part but, it will make it more personal.

I am going to see if they can send me a sample bag just to see if the color will match.

Wedding Shoes
I couldn't resist it.....

Thanks to rhonda4ever, I had to order these shoes, I couldnt resist it, they were a steal at $20. Don't they look like the perfect shade of Tiffany Blue? I might even go back and buy the black pair, and they also had some in pink. Now, if they are not going to be my wedding shoes, I am still going to wear them. I just couldnt let these go without seeing if they would work for me just as well as the $350 pair of shoes that I wanted. (in an earlier post) but, now those shoes have gone down to $200 maybe they will be cheaper by my wedding day, or out of stock.

***UPDATE: 11/06/08, I received the shoes today, they are really nice but, they are teal, which is a darker color than I expected. So, these wont be my wedding shoes but they still are a great pair of shoes, and I am going to keep them.

I'll take my Mario b.c I heard it is a good movie for couples and I want us to see it together, I checked out the website,

Is your marriage fireproof? Will it be? They have several books about making your marriage fireproof and several topics, even for engaged couples, couples getting re-married, etc. Downloads are on the site and everything, I can use many of their ideas and who wouldnt. I want to try different things so my marriage can be strong and fireproof so no one can come between us. This is something to do in addition to marriage counseling.

COUPLES
Relationships are wonderful gifts given to us by God. As we read in the Bible, the most-intimate relationship is marriage between a husband and a wife. Unfortunately, relationships today are under more cultural and interpersonal pressure and stress than ever before in our history.

But it doesn't have to be that way. Together, we can make a long-term difference for healthy relationships and marriages Ö starting with yours!

What can you do to make a difference?

Ok, Ladies I have ordered my dress! Finally, I made the decision and got it done. I May be cutting it close but hopefully the dress will arrive in enough time before the wedding so I can have it altered and everything. I also ordered my daughter's dress. Her dress wont be exactly like mine but she will look like a mini bride. Her only concern has been wearing the pool blue sash around her dress, no problem. Everything is coming along.........so everything will eventually come together. Of course, the dress pictured is NOT my dress but I have to throw everyone off in some way...

p.s. I will be a Maggie Sottero Bride!

Ask a Question
Why Does a Wedding need aTheme?

I came across this article today , it's from whitelacewedding.com

Recently, someone asked me a great question - Why does a wedding need a theme? (now, I would say because it's the whole purpose of wbc!)

Well, the easy answer is that it doesn't, but that not exactly true either. In fact, the truth is that almost all wedding have a theme. The theme of a wedding is whatever aspect is used to pull it all together. The most wildly used themes are colors and flowers. For example, my first wedding had a blue theme and shades of blue were used through out the event to create a unified feeling. Black and White is another color scheme coming back in full force recently. Other common floral themes are roses, calla lilies and orchids. Today, many brides are choosing to go for more unique and personal themes for a number of reasons, and those are generally what you think of when you hear "wedding theme" Themes like Tiffany Blue, Diamonds, Princess/Cinderella, and others. Yes, themes can be tacky if done wrong but a well done theme can make a regular wedding completely unique and unforgettable.

Benefits of planning around a central theme:

- Coordination: When all aspects of the wedding are planned around one central theme, even if it is just in color, it creates a much more coordinated look that flows from one area to the next nicely and adds to the elegance of the occasion.

- Tradition: Today's couples bring many varied pasts and histories into their marriages and choose to have a culturally themed wedding to honor those heritages.

- Personality: Weddings today are no longer just cookie cutter occasions - they are reflections of the couple, their relationship and their personalities. Many people are choosing themes that play out on those aspects of their own lives in order to add more personality and meaning to their weddings. For example, a couple who meet in school may want to do a School Sweethearts theme. Another couple, who are avid baseball fans may want to have a sports themed wedding.

- Preference: Sometimes, brides will pick a theme just simply because they want to. For one reason or another, the theme idea appealed to the couple. This type of theme may not be tied to any particular part of the couple's lives per say - but still brings out an aspect of their personalities into the event itself.

- Setting The Mood - A theme can also help set the mood and tone for an event. For example, a Diamond theme or Black and White theme will most likely lead to a very formal, very elegant wedding. A baseball or western theme is most likely going to lead to a much more informal, casual fun wedding. Neither is one - it is just a matter of personal choice and preference.

So, when it comes down to it - yes, you do need a theme but you get to decide what that means. If you wish to plan your wedding around the wedding colors you have picked out and carry that through as your central theme, that is perfect. If you prefer to go the next step with a more personalized theme, that is wonderful as well.

Personalized Playing Cards
Spades Anyone?

While I was on bridesclub.com today, I came across another unique wedding favor, personalized playing cards. I thought this would be a good gift to give and I created some for us by uploading our photo. I think it came out good if thats how it will print on the card. Is this a good wedding favor or not? Or do you think it would be too much?

I saw several sites that make these. I made this one on snapfish.com but the price was $20, now I am not sure if it was just for one deck or for several, if its for one deck, then of course that's too much, so we'll pass but, if I find them cheaper this may be an option. Just wanted to know what you girls think, would you like a favor like this?

Colored bags of M&M's
....at Party City!

Today, I took my daughter to Party City b.c she said she just wanted to look at the Halloween costumes, she picked out the one she wanted and I am sure she wanted me to buy but, not today and then the store was busy..... When I went to the front of the store, I saw the colored bags of M&M's and they had almost all of the colors but I didnt see white. These are the same ones on thier website that you can have personalized. They had light blue and aqua and, the aqua one's would match my theme. I just wanted to let you brides know that they do have colored bags of M&M's at Party City for $5.00 per bag. This is probably the only place where you can buy them locally. I also just looked at their site and they have the bags for $6.99 and shipping was $10, good luck ladies.......

Change of Venue!

So, my FH and I have decided to go ahead and change the venue for our wedding ceremony and reception. I am happy about and I feel much better about this place than the old one. There was no communication with the other place, I was calling and leaving messages and no return phone calls, but, they would send me and email for a payment reminder. Calculating the total cost is what prompted us to look for somewhere else. We are going to save about $5k or more by switching to a more simpler place.

We have decided to have our wedding at a local hotel. The place is smaller but so what, we are not having the wedding of the century and I like the set up of the rooms I was showed. When I saw the ceremony room I can see the decorations and my personalized isle runner, I could see it all there even though it wasn't. For the reception room, it's big enough to hold all of our guests, and that's all that matters. Plus, when I talked to the coordinator about having a signature drink, she told me that they already make some kind of blueberry lemonade, (it would be blue) but, I decided to pass on that b.c it would be too much extra money, just for a drink that isnt alcoholic. I asked her about having the blue cherries, and she totally agreed, it wouldnt be a problem at all for me to buy them and bring them in and just give them to every guest in their glass.

We are coming out better by the day.
