Invitation
I found the perfect invitations for the wedding. All of the wedding elements are included in this one piece of paper. The brown and pink colors, the feather for the centerpieces, and the butterflies that will be added for a little something extra magical.

Unfortunately, the company that sells them, is located in Australia. When I looked for other types of butterfly/feather inviations, I sure found them, but again, it was another Australian company. What is going on? Why do they have all the cool inviations? I think I smell a DIY project coming...

It is a cool website

Ostrich Feather Centerpieces
I really love the look of the feather centerpieces. It's so different.

I'll have to play around with the colors and lighting a bit. I am not sure if I want to do the colors or just the white. Or I could do the white feathers with pink lighting?

Like I said, there are so many combinations, I will have to experiment.

After looking around, these are a bit costly. I haven't looked into how much flower centerpieces are, because originally I was just gonna do candles, but these run about 50-60 dollars per centerpiece. I have seen some of the materials on E-bay, which you could get for cheap.

Materials needed:

1. Eiffel tower vases
2. Floralytes-glowing lights to put inside vases (2 per vase)
3. Ostrich Feathers-about 30-40 per vase for a full look (or 15-20)
4. Centerpiece Vase Foam Holders-used to hold the feathers in place
5. Table Centerpiece Mirrors-Optional
6. Light Bases-Optional

I plan on having a cupcake tower at my wedding. My MOH told me about this amazing cupcake bakery. Everything is gourmet, not like grocery store cupcakes in plasic boxes. It's really inexpensive. Just 2.95 per cupcake. So if I wanted to order 100 it's only 295.00 or so. But I am sure they do pricings differently for a wedding, plus I want extras like the butterfly ornaments, and I'll have a small cake for the top. My budget allows me to have 411.00 for a cake so I think I'll save if I do it this way.

I want to have the:

Caramel Cubed-Caramel cupcake, caramel filling topped with a caramel buttercream. ItÂ’s the caramel lovers dream come true.

Caramel Mocha-A caramel filled chocolate cupcake with a mocha frosting drizzeled with caramel and topped with an espresso bean

Carrot Cake-Award winning carrot cake with our classic cream cheese frosting. This baby has a hand made marzipan carrot on top.

Chocolate Buttermilk-As Chocolate as you can get. Pearls of dense chocolate fudge frosting sit on a dark chocolate buttermilk cupcake.

Chocolate Hazelnut-A chocolate cupcake with a sweet creamy hazelnut frosting and then we dip it in chocolate

Razz ma taz-A raspberry filled chocolate cupcake topped with a raspberry infused French buttercream

Triple Vanilla-Vanilla cupcake filled with vanilla pastry cream topped with vanilla French buttercream and garnished with white chocolate shavings

Turtle-Chocolate cupcake with caramel filling, the frosting is a fudge of chocolate caramel and Pecans

Pink flowers with brown ribbon
Jewel accents
Flowers
I like the idea of these flowers. Just a full bouquet of pink hydrangas (used in pics) or you could use pink roses too, with the brown ribbon. I guess there really isn't brown flowers out there LOL.

The 2nd picture is showing the jewel accents. I'd like to do something like that, to keep the bling factor going, but I'd have to try it out. I like the long ribbon too. Maybe having both would be too much?

Also. I saw you can have a picture wrapped in your bouquet too. I'll have a pic of my dad, so it's like he's walking down the aisle with me.

Chocolate and Pink wedding colors
Out or In?
I have been noticing alot of Chocopink wedding colors. I saw somewhere that it was not "in" and that it has "been done". Not that I care, I'm still doing it, but I never realized it was such a popular color combo. I thought it was a new thing. I've only seen like, blues and reds and more pastels for weddings. Was I living under a rock or something?

Ceremony/Reception Site
Grand Hotel
Last night I went to look at a ceremony/reception site at the Grand Hotel. It looks very fancy on the website, but it is surprisingly inexpensive.

It's located in the middle of downtown, and doesn't look like much from the outside, but once you walk up to the building, it grabs your attention right away.

First of all there are 2 door greeters. What are they called? Bellmans or Doormans? Anyways, they are dressed up all nice and fancy, the whole nine yards. When you walk in, you notice the grand staircase right away. It's where all the pictures are taken for the bride to show off her dress or the bridal party. It's really swanky let me tell ya.

The caterer tells me that the whole ballroom floor would be only used by me and the bridal party, so that's nice. No drunken partiers or out of towners can walk right in and decide to look around a bit. The floor is accessed by elevator, and it opens to the "lobby area" of the ballroom. Everything is marble and dark hardwood. Ugh, it's so beautiful...

I say that because I really have my heart set on another place, which is entirely way to expensive for me, and I know I can't have it, because they are already booked on my day. And 2, my MOH already fell in love with the grand Hotel. I think I'm stuck with it.

It's super affordable. No food or beverage minumum. Free ballroom rental. Ceremony fee is 500. Free bridal suite. Which is amazing by the way. It's on the 15th floor. Corner with large windows on both sides. King size bed. Whirlpool tub with marble everything. Fuzzy robes. Yeah, the only thing I hate about it is, it's in the middle of downtown, and I'm getting married on a Friday evening. Can we say Traffic?

Dallas Marie Dress and Hairstyle

Wedding Dress
Maggie Sottero
I love Maggie Sottero dresses. They are so unique.

I really love the rouching effect on dresses. It looks kind of messy in a pretty way. I cannot stand perfectness, or straight slim lines. I gotta have some texture somewhere.

I have yet to try this on, so we will see if it is the dress for me, but if not, my other dress will have rouching as well. I just wish it was more sparkly.

I also love her hair. In another picture angle of this model, she has big white or cream colored flowers going up the side of her hair. You can see it better on the maggie sottero website. I think I might want to do it this way, instead of doing a tiara. Because I think, having both would just be a little too much. Can you imagine? Tiara and big poofy flowers...

Wedding Day Diamonds
95 diamonds total
Ring
I've always looked online for ideas and I really liked Wedding Day Diamonds the best. They have a great selection of unique rings, I'll do anything to stand out in a crowd.

We went out on a cold, blustery Martin Luther King Jr. Day. I had the day off from work, as did Russell. We didn't actually plan on buying rings that day. We were just going to look at prices. We went to 2 other stores before we went to Wedding Day Diamonds.

I wanted a pear shaped diamond, but no one had the style I wanted on display. I wanted the pear shape with the pave' diamonds around the pear, with the split band, also in pave' diamonds. I saw it on the Wedding Day Diamonds website.

After I talked to my sales woman about getting the ring sent to the store, I went around the store a second time. The ring I have now, just kind of called out to me. I loved it in the display and when I tried it on, it just sparkled on my hand. Almost like the ring just winked at me.

It's a Simon G, 3/4 carat princess cut diamond with the pave' diamonds around it, with 3 bands of pave' diamonds. I instantly fell in love, and my honey bought it for me on the spot. I love instant gratification.

The Proposal
My fiance' and I have been together for 6 years. We have 2 kids together. We always knew we would get married someday, but we just couldn't afford it before.

At the beginning of this year, Russell just kind of blurted out "Let's get married". I was thinking he was joking, because he will occassionally say things like that to me. But not this time. He was serious. He just wanted to do a quick ceremony at the Justice of the Peace, and have a party later, but when I told my mom the plan, she said no, and wanted me to do it the right way, with her help.

I'm really glad we went with the ceremony and reception. I am having lots of fun planning. Plus, I really always had my heart set on getting married in the Fall. My favorite month is October, and originally, I thought it would be really fun to get married on Halloween. It's my favorite holiday. But, I realized I didn't want to have two of my favorite things on one day. I gotta have my cake and eat it too.

So, it wasn't a spectacular surprise, with crying and hugs, type of proposal. We've been through enough of that, and off we went to go pick out my ring.

My First Wedding Post
I actually typed in the the words 'chocolate and pink color reception ideas' in my search bar, and this awesome site came up. I had such fun looking around at other peoples blogs, that I totally wanted my own!

Plus I think it's a good way to organize things, and trust me, I love to organize things. I have 3 wedding sites I belong to right now, and now this. I am totally obsessed with everything wedding. And since I'm only gonna do it once, I'm going to join anything that has the word wedding in the title.

I am going to try my hardest to update all the time, so I don't forget any details, and, I don't want all of my fantastic typing skills to go to waste. Wow, I am so excited to get started.

about my wedding
My color theme is Chocolate and Pink. I love everything pink, but I wanted to throw in a fall color because we are getting married in October. The ceremony is going to be in the evening, preferably when "Indian Summer" is going on, so we can be comfortable. There's gonna be so much sparkling going on you'll have to wear sunglasses. I want everything to be twinkling, blinging, reflecting...you'll think you just walked into Tinkerbells secret stash of fairy dust.
