I'm Back & We Booked our Venue!!!
Sorry everyone, I have been m.i.a. for a little while. Had to take some time to take care of personal mumbo-jumbo and just haven't been on the computer much lately...
But I'm back!!! I haven't had the time to do much in the wedding planning area, but am back on track with that as well too. We did, however book and put the deposit down on our reception site a few weeks ago. We finally decided on the Crown Theater (a local theater here in our town). The price was right, the people are fanastic and it's a theater!!! We are going to have our ceremony in the actual theater, and our reception in the Crown Theater's ballroom. The spaces are gorgeous (the ceilings are amazing), and the majority of the colors are black, white, and red -- perfect! I'm so excited about this choice and can't wait to start figuring out how to decorate it!!!!! P.S. They were in cleaning mode when we visited the theater, so the pics aren't the best... |

SO CONFUSED!!! :(
I went and tried on some wedding dresses at a local bridal shop yesterday. They didn't unfortunately have a style similar to the one I was looking for, but I did get an idea of what shapes and colors look best on me.
I did try on one gown I liked very much, but didn't get that "this is THE dress" feeling. (Unfortunately we weren't allowed to take pics, but did sneak one in). I keep coming back to a replica designer online who has the gown I am utterly in love with. The designer no longer makes this dress, so if I want it, looks like this is the way I have to go. The dress is returnable and only takes 1-2 months to get. The shape of the dress is one of the shapes that looked good on me at the store, but I am afraid to order a replica. Then again, it IS returnable and I would have plenty of time to find and purchase another... Help ladies?! Advice? Should I just go for it -- there's really not much to lose, right?! I just can't help but to keep looking longingly at this gown!!! |

Going to Try on Dresses Tomorrow!!!!!!!!!
Although I am almost 100% positive I have found my dress and where to order it I still feel like I need that wedding dress tryouts experience! Plus, I thought it would be a good idea to find a similar dress to try on as well just to make sure the style is what I really REALLY want.
PLUS, Im getting married after 10 1/2 years!!! I think I need to do a little wedding dress fashion show, or my wedding planning just wouldnt be complete. One of my bridesmaids is coming along and is anxious to try on some gowns too. Im excited to say thats just what I am going to do this weekend. I made an appointment for 1pm on Sunday -- to say I am excited and happy is an understatement. This is where the whole wedding-to-be will finally become a reality. Tear! |

I found my dress, but it is a designer gown and quite a bit over my budget. I have been looking and reviewing this site for a few weeks and think I might order my dress from here (worst case, i I don't like it and can send it back). Just curious if anyone has orddered from them before and if they liked their dress. The customer service is great and they have good reviews... |

A Little Inspiration! :)
I have decided to do our wedding reception tables a bit different. Some with flowers, some manzanita branches, and some with ostrich feathers. We will place them accordingly of course (example flowers and manzanitas on the main tables, and the ostrich feathers on the key tables -- bridal party, candy bar). Hopefully this won't get too crazy -- but I like the idea of similar but different decor. I can't decide on just one centerpiece, and it will give our guests more to look at!
Take a look at some similar pics of things we are going to create! I feel so inspired and thought perhaps some of you black, white, and red brides may like some of these designs! I can't wait to get started making everything! |

Yet Another Venue?!
Although I THOUGHT we had found our reception venue, looks like I just can't make a single decision.
Initially I had wanted to have our wedding somewhere a little different, but there just wasn't many place to chose from around here. We looked at a few older ballrooms, hoping for a bit of vintage, but were disappointed to find that there was no upkeep on any of them. So sad. When I first starting looking for venues, I came across the Crown Theater. I immediately wanted to go take a look -- at the time we starting looking at venues, the owners were out of town -- it just didn't work out. I got to thinking about the place again and contacted them -- we have a meeting schedule to look at it this afternoon. I'm excited and nervous all at the same time. Excited because it could be really neat, nervous because it might not be... Here's hoping it helps me make a decision one way or another. Let me know what you think! It would be a great venue site to use, especially if we go with forward with our Tim Burton/movie theme! |

May Have Found the Place!!
Last week my sis (MOH) and I went looking at a few places to have the wedding. After a few not so impressive locations, we ended up here:
Peak n Peek Resort in Findley Lake NY. Beautiful, beautiful venue. We can have our reception there, AND the ceremony outdoors on the deck. Not only do I find it beautiful both indoors and out (the scenery is fantastic), but they literally do everything -- food, drinks, decor, help with finding vendors, etc, etc. Their wedding specialist, Kim, is amazing. She's wonderfully nice and I feel very comfortable talking with her, knowing she'll do her best to make our day special. Just working out a few details and crunching the numbers, but I think this may be the one. Let me know what you think! |

Trying to find this dress!!! The actual designer is in Italy, so not sure that I can get this exact dress here. Found a few similiar ones, but just not close enough.
I did come across a company that makes dresses, but I'm not too sure about all of that. The company is Blingdresses. Is anyone familiar with them?! Any info is appreciated -- about the above company, the dress, or if you know someone that custom makes gowns! Thank you!! |

A Few Choices - Opinions Please!
When I first starting looking at wedding gowns, I immediately fell in love with Maggie Sottero, and more specifically dress style Fiorella.
I happened across another beautiful wedding photo online (pic to the left). I LOVE the guys outfit and I am seriously considering getting my FH a top hat -- and when I saw that dress....something about it just made me fall in love again. Since our wedding theme is going to be vintage hollywood glam (possibly with touches of tum burton-ness, please see post below) -- the dress with the chiffon on it seems a bit more fitting. What do you guys think??? Also, I couldn't really find a dress like the one in the pic, and Maggie Sottero only had 2 dresses that I can find with this style, so if you've seen a similar dress, please pass the information on!!!! |
