Our wedding theme: Vintage Italian
Our wedding colors: Black, White/Cream and Deep Reds.

I want to incorporate some sort of design into the mix here and there, and had originally chosen a black and white damask. Then, I got a new chair for my office. It's kind of vintage looking with a zebra print pattern. I am so in love with it!

Now I'm torn between using the damask or a zebra print for the wedding. Mr S thinks the zebra print could look too silly if used incorrectly. I happen to be in love with both styles and now I'm stuck on which to chose!!! I think the damask is a classic pattern -- beautiful and stunning. But then agagin the zebra print is a way to bring a bit of flair to the wedding decor.

Is the zebra print too much for a wedding? Too wild? Will it take away from our vintage theme too much? Help!!!!

that is a hard one, i understand because i had that same dilemma! except i just decided to not use a pattern haha! i agree that damask would probably fit your theme best because damask is more classic & that goes with vintage. however, if you're careful & use it in small amounts, zebra COULD work. & i agree 100% - it would definitely bring some flair (& add a modern touch) to your wedding. especially a zebra print that uses black & cream since it adds an older feel

You are so right Dobiemom725! it's a hard one. I'm actually scheduled to do a 45th birthday party event for someone and she asked the same question. Which ones to use. We're going with the Zebra!!! For you as a wedding, keep it Damask. They are both gorgeous!

damask is such a universal pattern. I think zebra can be a little tacky if not used right. however damask, if you stuff it up? it still looks classy :P

and if your going for vintage, damask usually isnt in that category. vintage is soft warm colours or cool greens.
Unless your going for an old hollywood style.. damask all the way!

Well, we're kind of doing a smorgasbord of styles. :) Hey, I can't pick just one fun theme/style. I am so wishy washy, I know...

It's mostly old hollywood glam with touches of the italian (I have to bring in the fedoras and cigars). That's why I originally thought to use the damask in small bits.

i agree with the ladies that damask would probably be the best way to go. actually, our weddings are very similar and we're using damask because we love the bold statement, the contrast with the red and it's also fairly readily available. but we really aren't using too much of it bc we don't want our guests to get bored of it.

if you do decide to go with zebra you have to be careful because it can get a bit tacky and i don't really see how it fits your theme.
