Wedding Hair Style
Hair Talk Pt. 2
Okay, so I’ve talked about my difficult hair before, but today I come equipped with a better vision (thanks Jonezy) and pictures!
As I said before, my hair is naturally curly- making it difficult to wear straight styles (it poofs up like CRAZY when I straighten it!); but for my wedding day, I knew I wanted a straight-kind of style and so I decided I would get extensions. I am scheduled to get my trial weave installed the 2nd weekend in April and I’m extremely excited. Why am I getting it so early? I want to see how my hair will act in the same climate as it'll be next year! Plus it's a fun excuse to try out a new hair-do! I am planning on purchasing my hair from the same people that Angela & Vanessa Simmons, Gabrielle Union, Megan Good, etc. get their hair from: Extensions- Plus (EP) http://www.extensions-plus.com/ Be warned, if you’re looking at them, EP is NOT cheap. I’m okay with paying for expensive hair because, as I’ve learned, women who’ve purchased EP have said they got numerous YEARS out of their one batch of weave. That means savings down the line. I purchase a great weave now and when my wedding/honeymoon rolls around next year, I will still have the hair I need! I want a curly/wavy hair texture that is easy to straighten with a flat iron. That way I can straighten/flat iron it on the wedding day into my desired style and then when the honeymoon comes around, I can easily jump in the water and curl up! Sorta like Soloange here (these were taken like 2 days apart): Here is the look I’ve decided I’m going for! Excited much? CIAO Ebonee Monique |

Garters!
Tigger Garter!
Okay, seriously. How cute is this?
Since he was a little boy Mister Mr. has always loved Tigger. He’s had Tigger bedroom slippers, a robe and countless stuffed animals given to him. He loves them all. I’m sure if he read this he’d kill me, but I’ll take my chances! I did a random search and came across these Tigger garters. I think this would be a funny surprise for Mister Mr. when he takes the garter off, huh? I’m going to wait to get this (or possibly get it made by my seamstress), but I couldn’t wait to post it here! Adorable! CIAO Ebonee Monique |

Flower Girl Dress!
One dress, two girls!
So our flower girl dress arrived. To say Mister Mr. loved it would be an understatement. I think he rubbed it so long I started to worry!
But here’s the dilemma. Originally we were only going to have my cousin Kendyll as the flower girl (look back and you’ll see her cutie-patootie-self!), but a few weeks ago I threw Mister Mr. a huge 25th birthday bash and surprised him with all of his family from Atlanta and South Florida. Here’s where things change. I met his little cousin Taylor and fell in love with her too! So I asked Taylor’s mom, Lijuana, if it was cool if Taylor was our flower girl too! She said of course and here we are. One flower girl dress, two flower girls. What’s a bride to do? Sure, I could look around and see if I can find the exact same dress (the dress itself came from Wal-Mart, believe it or not, but they stopped carrying it after the holidays) but chances are slim-to-none. Mister Mr. loves the dress so much I would hate to start from scratch. So maybe I can have a replica made of the original dress? Argh! What would you do? Start looking for two brand new dresses, wait to see if Wally World carries it again or try and have the original one replicated? Choices, Choices. CIAO, Ebonee Monique |

Damask rehearsal dress!
Don't mind me and the fact that my rehearsal dinner is more than a year away! I still look for things I'll possibly need! :) I hate to be someone who sees something, says "I'll buy it later" and then come back and it's gone!
So I buy when I see it! Here's a cute dress I found for all the damask girls who want to have a damask-type dress for their rehearsal dinner. I think it's cute. I'd probably add a cute pashima and some nice heels! |

Wedding Invitation
Our Invitation choice!
So this is all my doing; I’ll take the blame.
I laid my eyes on these invitations in Michael's and fell in utter, unimaginable LOVE. Not only are they DIY(it includes everything you need, you just print), but they match our damask theme to a “t”. But wait, it gets better. For all the invitations we’ll need it’s only going to end up costing us no more than $150(with my Michael’s coupons, of course)! Yep. You read correctly. $150 buck-a-roos. We are planning on getting 5 boxes of these (they come with 30 to a box) so that’s $1 an invitation! WOW! I was planning on having someone design and print them, but then I started thinking of other things I’d like to spend my money on versus something people will probably throw away. Now don’t get my wrong, I don’t want to sacrifice style for $$ or vice versa, but I’ve got priorities and invitations just aren’t number one on my list. That being said, I opened the box in Michael’s and the quality of paper is amazing! I love it! Seeing how they are from Brides.com I have no doubt that they are good quality invitations! Included in each box is: printable invites, response cards, directions cards; ribbon, jacket, seals & mailing labels. We'll probably get a teal/aqua ribbon to incorporate in the invites some way. I was reading somewhere that a bride who used these same invites took her file down to Kinko’s and had them print it for her for under $40. Hmmm…we’ll see what direction we go in. Mister Mr. and I love them and are relieved to not being paying crazy money on paper! CIAO Ebonee Monique |

Wedding Decoration
Guess who's Bizack?!
The other night Mister Mr. and I were talking about decorations and we both agreed that neither one of us are the type to over-decorate. You know how they say sometimes less is more? Yeah, that’s us. Now don’t get me wrong we’ll do it classy-like, but I’m not trying to over-do it.
Here is an example of something we’ll probably do: hanging lanterns! I LOVE it! And they are relatively cheap (I think I saw like 10 for $38.00 somewhere!). I love cheap! (BTW, the first pic is of our actual reception venue!) Another way we’ve decided to scale back is by not having the traditional floral centerpieces. Instead, I think we’re going to go with a candle and rose petal look. Mister Mr. LOVES candles and I love the glowing look that flickers off. Gorgeous, if I do say so myself, and totally DIY. I’ll probably order my flowers in bulk anyway and do my own bouquets (shout out to Megs!) and just get the rose petals that way. It’ll all add up to be less than what we’d pay if we had to hire someone! I have to keep reminding myself that the table linens will be either black and/or white with b& white damask table runners PLUS the flower/candle centerpieces. I’m wondering if that’s overkill and maybe I should just do the candles. I don’t want to be a busy-bride…like I said, less is more! J What do you think? |

Damask Finds!
Damaskalicious!
Yay! So I made my first damask purchase this past weekend! A b&w damask glass plate (it's really pretty large) and a b&w damask accordian file. Believe it or not, I bought BOTH of these for under $10 at Ross. I love Ross!
Here's the thing, though, there was only one plate left...ugh! So I'm going to all of the Ross' in my area and searching, searching, searching for more! Technically, I think the plate is supposed to be a candle plate (but I think it's much too large for any candle I've ever seen) so maybe we'll use it for that....or maybe something else. If I can find at least 3 more plates, I'll be happy! What do you think I can use the plates for? |

Wedding Cake
Cupcakes 'R' Us!
Since we're already the ultimate non-traditional couple, FI and I have decided that instead of a traditional wedding cake, we want a cupcake wedding cake! Yummy, yum, yum! I LOVE cupcakes sooo much and I think it's such a unique twist on the normal wedding cake! Here are some inspirations I've seen that made me smile! I know I'd like at least one tier of regular cake, so that FI and I can freeze it and eat it a year later, so I'll keep that in mind!
I love being unique! |

Bridesmaids
The black bridesmaid trend!
I love the trend of bridemaids dressed in black. I think it's chic, simple and definitley re-wearable. While I haven't narrowed down the bridemaids/MOH dresses just yet, I'm working hard on it. I know the dress will be black- to tie in with my black and white damask & teal theme- and I want it to be flattering to my girls' bodies. I'm not one of those damask brides that wants the OVER the top damask everywhere. I want it simple and classy. There will be sprinkles of the damask and teal throughout the ceremony. My flowergirl and ring bearer will have the splashes of damask in the ceremony! So chic!
Here are a few dresses I have my eye on...although the MOH dresses will probably be longer while the bridesmaids dresses could be tea or cocktail length. I also have to keep in mind that some of my bridal party has big breasteses (lol...that still makes me giggle) so I want to make sure no one is spilling over Lol. |

Ceremony seating
Circle/Semi-circle seating
FI and I were sitting around and I was flipping through a bridal magazine when I saw a picture of a beautiful Spring wedding that showcased a circular/semi-circle ceremony seating arrangement. I hadn't even looked at it for long when FI said "I like that! It's different" Then I started thinking, hmmm....maybe circular seating is the way to go. It will allow all of our guests the opportunity to see and hear everything (even though we will be mic-ed up) that goes on during the ceremony!
I love this idea sooooo much! |
