Wedding Reception
The VENUE

I overdid wedding blogs right when we got engaged but hopefully i am back for the next 16 months.

we finally booked a venue a few weeks ago and couldnt be happier. i stopped obsessing about the onsite hotel and started finding more places that were in our price range and had that classic romantic wedding look. So back to venue touring we went. I took my parents out on MLK Jr Day since my FH had to work. our first stop was another one I loved online but wanted to make sure it looked the same in person. and boy, FINALLY IT DID. for once (besides Lake House) everything was magical. i forgot about all the others. And hurried through all the rest of the days appts. Its funny. the place is 5 min away, 1 min from our favorite restaurant and we never heard of it. we drove all over the state plus out of state, when all we really had to do was search in our own zip code. The name is Glen Foerd Mansion and it is fabulous. It is a historic mansion built in 1850 with a conservatory built off the side in 2005 (FH likes modern; I like antique-perfect combo!). we will be married in the backyard right by the waters edge. The walkway has tons of flowers on each side. The cocktail hour will be inside the entire first floor of the mansion and on the porch. The 2nd floor features an art gallery and the b&g suites (although we cant stay over!! how I wish!!). the reception and dinner will be in the conservatory. Usually dinner is in the dining room but we both love the gorgeous conservatory, with the windows overlooking the river. There are three levels--one for the band, one for dancing and one for dinner. We tried the food, put down a deposit, showed his parents, and now can just dream about the big day! i wish you all happy venue hunting days. May your dreams come true too!

the official description from VIP Bridal Mag:
Situated on 18 acres of English Park gardens overlooking the Delaware River, this Victorian mansion features a treasured collection of period antiques, an impressive art gallery, Tiffany-style skylights, and dramatic grand staircase. The enchanting grounds feature a wrought-iron gazebo, formal rose garden and breathtaking riverfront vistas with a recently added Riverside Conservatory.
