I am one of those people that once they start crying they cry uncontrollably. I don't want to be a sobbing, snot covered bride, so, to that end...

Does anybody have any good methods either to prevent yourself from crying, or to stop crying once you have begun? I have already begun reading my speech over and over to avoid crying during that, and listening to our first dance song and father/daughter dance song over and over to avoid crying there...

Any tips?

What my friend did for her wedding was, and gave me this advice also is do not be afraid to have a drink or two....don't get drunk or anything but a drink helps the nerves and calms you down. I know this is gonna work for me because i tear up at anything....like the spca commericals lol

you already have some great tips listed!  I think im going to have to do the same 'practice'.  for me, it helps to think about something funny.  i mean like, really far out funny, like maybe a private joke that you& FI share, or picturing somebody tripping & falling (but of course being ok).  you may not get a laugh off of that, but that kind of stuff cracks me up!  i dont drink anymore, but i can say that a good stiff drink just may do you well, like beckster said!

I was shown years ago to take the thumb from your right hand and gently, slowly apply pressure to the skin on the left hand between the thumb and the next finger.  This stimulates the brain and shoots messages to you...thus stop crying...it's worked for me.

I'm a very emotional person as well, and that is part of the reason why I don't want to even do a father daughter dance!  I try to think of sort of "blah" things that aren't emotionally charged, or relate it to something completely odd yet funny.  That sort of helps me come back down to normal, and not be SUPER emotional!
