DIY Wedding
Cardbox
I Started this cardbox and thought it was going to be a disaster. I started with 3 hat boxes from Hobby Lobby. The largest one had a Damask print so I had to cover it.
I bought Green and White Fabric and glued it on the the bottom box. Then I painted the top two purple and green. I Then added the ribbion to tie together the polka dots. I cut a hole all the way through the boxes and then cut a slot at the top to drop the cards. (almost lost a finger doing it lol) I then put the self adhesive rhinestones all around the slot to hide any imperfections. I glued all of the boxes together. I added teh Blinged out "R" to the top. and then added the orchids for more flair. My mom was worried that people would not know what it was for haha so I added the "Cards" and yes i now realise the S is not in line with the rest... good thing i took this picture now i can go fix it. All in all i think it turned out really well. |

DIY Wedding
some more DIY's
P1- Memorial Candle for my grandmother (this will be lit by my grandfather before the wedding)
~ glass candle holder (dollar store) ribbion, vellum and printer~ P2- the back of the memorial candle has pearls up the back hiding the seam P3- Candle holder for the head table to be in front of FH and I. It is from Crate and Barrel i fell in love. It has small orchida on the inside that can be taken out and this can be reused after the wedding P4- Toasting Flutes- I fell in love with these beautiful Kate Spade ones at Macy's but they were way over priced for me to use for one day. I really liked the shape of them and found some plain ones in the same shape at Crate and Barrel. I simply applied the MR. and MRs vinal lettering (cut by a cricut machine) and they are perfect. The letters can be removed after the wedding so we can reuse these in the future. P5- This is the bottom of the glasses, I was deciding on wether or not to put the R (for our new last name) on the bottom or not. (FH decided he liked it so they are now on teh bottom of both) I thought it would make for a cute picture with us both drinking from them P6-This is what it will look like in front of me and FH at the head table. I wanted something simple and modern. I think they go well together. |

Save the Dates
I knew I wanted to do Save The Dates because July is usually a big vacation time for everyone and I wanted them to know of our wedding ahead of time to book acordingly...
I had my sister take some pictures for us...(I want to wait to do epics until fall) and we found a few we could work with... FH got involved and ended up designing them. I uploaded it to Vista Print .. to do Magnents I think they turned out ok... I was not real pleased with the quality but they will do for how inexpensive they were. I am currently making the cards to stick them to and then hopefully mailing them off by the end of next week |

DIY Wedding
And so it begins... the DIY attempts
As soon as the date was set and colors were chosen I began some DIY attempts... some .. well they didnt go so well... but others turned out great(I think) I knew I needed to get started early because I know as the wedding gets closer there will be many other things taking up my time. I wanted to take my time with them and make them look nice. I just feel bad for my parents.. their basment (aka my diy headquarters) is a MESS!!!
I have a problem of starting one project and then starting another ... running to the craft store to get a few more things for the previous diy's and getting 2-3 more diys to start on and then getting home and trying them out haha. Am i the only one who does this? So far here are a few of my projects P1. - the program holder for the church ~ wooden crate from michaels, Live, love, laugh wood letters from michaels, paint and glue it all together~ easy peasy P2.- Flip flops for the bridesmaids for the receptioin (to be placed in their bag ~Flip flops from Hobby Lobby, Self-adhesive rhinestones for straps, ribbion~ ~ I then tied them together with this really cute ribbion from michaels it says "From the MR. and Mrs." and then tied a poem on them. ~P3 P4,5,6- The flip flops I made for myself for the reception... Our floors are laquered concreate ie very slippery for heels. however I didn't want to get just flat flip flops b/c my FH is a FOOT taller than me lol I decided to make it easier on him to kiss me by getting some with a little height. I love how they turned out and I will be taking them on the Honeymoon as well!!! ~ Flip flops from Target, Self adhesive rhinestones from Michaels, "Just married" and "I Do" stickers from Michaels, Blue ribbion from Michaels.~ P7- The braclets I was going to make for the bridesmaids... however shortly after this mock up I went to Michaels to get more supplies and wouldn't you know that the Green "Pearls" are discontinued:( so looking for a plan B... I also put their intial charm on them and I have a special charm for each of my girls as well. (like one that says Big sis for my sister, my sorority letters for my sorority sisters) I am also making one for myself to wear for the day with matching charms to represent all of them. P8- Necklaces I made for the bridesmaids ... i could not find anything i liked and wanted something simple but yet kinda different I made these... not sure how i feel yet... still thinking.... I purposaly put the heart off center more to the left... it lays right when it is worn so here are just a few... what do you think ... any suggestions? |

Wedding Reception
Our Reception Hall
I fell in love with this place the second i saw it... It is the Foundry Art Center and it is in the perfect location for our guests and in a my fav. part of our city. They use to make train cars in this building but they have turned it into a beautiful art hall. The main hall is where the reception will be held but we also have access to all of the gallaries on the right and left as well as the upstairs. They are opening the doors an hour before the reception for our guests to walk around and look at the artwork. They put up the fabric draping and globe lighting for the reception and i LOVE it.
We moved our wedding date just to get this place and i am sooooo excited.. it is very unique and modern... i didn't want the typical banquet hall. The Foundry is located and the right on the riverfront at the end of St.Charles's historic main street. All along main street there are little shops, resturants, and museums. They also offer carriage rides at night. My one delema is the fact we NEED tall centerpieces. As you can see the celings are very very high and we need something to fill in a little empty space. we saw a wedding a few weeks ago (while scoping it out some more) that had low centerpieces and it looked very BLAH.... WE also CANT use candles of any kind... (due to the fabric draping and all of the artwork).. so i have to think of something .... hummmm DIY overtime |

The Proposal
THE AMAZING proposal
On May 22, 2009 Chris and I went to Trailhead in Saint Charles for dinner.
Afterwards we walked down Main Street to the Winery of the Little Hills where we drank a bottle of Wine while watching a good band play. It was very relaxing ... just what I needed after finishing college. We then headed to New Town at Saint Charles where we watched the movie Wall-E in their outdoor amphitheater. It was a good movie and a nice atmosphere. If you havent seen the movie yet it is about two robots that fall in love and go through a series of hardships. After the movie was over the guy in charge came out and said that they would be playing a alternative ending. When the "Alternative Ending" came on it was Chris on the screen in a suit. Needless to say I was REALLY confused... I had No idea what was about to happen. I looked at Chris and he just smiled and said watch the movie. Well he said " Well the movie is over but there is one more thing I have to do before the credits roll.... Lizz are you out there... Lizz you are the love of my life. These past six years have been amazing... so amazing that the thought of spending one day without breaks my heart. This is why I want to spend the rest of my life with you." There is a part in the movie where Wall-e who collects junk, finds a ring box with a diamond ring in it. Wall E then throws the ring back in the trash and keeps the box... Well Chris said "hey Wall-e Can you toss me that" he incorporated it so it looks as though wall e throws him the ring and he catches it.. He then says oh you can keep the box" and he shows wall e keeping the box. He then says Hold on everybody" I look at him and he is on one knee with a ring box. He asked me to marry him... I said yes... though lots of tears. After he slid the ring on my finger, everyone starts clapping (there were like 100 people there). I hear a lot a cheering coming from one area. When I turned around I saw my Dad, Mom, and Sister Amanda. Also his Mom, Sisters Ashley and Brooke, Aunt Donna, Cousins Tracy, Keith and Tricia. I ran up to them and they were all crying as much as I was.... They were there the whole time. It was the MOST amazing night of my life. He put so much time and effort into making it perfect. It was like a movie. Chris is the love of my life and I cant wait to spend the rest of my life with him as Husband and Wife. Oh and to top it all off on Monday before the proposal he called my Dad to ask if he would critique his Resume. When he got here he handed a copy to my Mom, Dad, and Sister. The resume listed all of the reasons they should let him marry me. It said things like " able to swallow my pride and admit I am wrong, and Able to Block popular online shopping Sites (one of my dad's favs)" My parents cried and expressed the fact they could not be happier!!!! My parents and sister love Chris so much and think I am so lucky to have found the man of my dreams. |

about us
About US
My FH and I met in high school as (sort of) blind dates to prom. We both needed a date and had mutual friends who set us up. Needless to say prom was amazing because here we are 6 years later and madly in love!!!!
We knew after about 6 months that this was it... we were meant to be!!! However we were young and broke... so we waited it out. Our 6 year anniversary was the same day as my college graduation so i thought he was going to pop the question (We realised early on we needed to wait to get our degrees to get married). The day came and went and I had finally set my mind to the fact it would be awhile before it happened... or so i thought. |
