Ask a Question
Your new signature...
For those of us who are changing our last names, who has been practicing their signature? ;) I feel kinda silly about it, but I figure I can't be the only one doing this!

I really like how my current one looks with my maiden name. It took me years to perfect it, lol! And I just can't seem to get the same style out of his last name...

I'm really going to miss my last name, if only for the way it looks when I write it on paper, lol (actually don't like my last name otherwise rofl)!

I've tried doing this too!! I'm kinda sad about not having the my last name anymore. I hate how combined last names look, so I don't want to do that. I like being Amanda Carter. I like my last name, and there are so many Carters in the community, it feels like it is part of my identity. At least when I'm Amanda Cleland, I'll have the same initial.. It wont be the same though. It will take me a while to get used to it!

I was practicing at a restraunt on the classy brown paper tablecloths with crayon. Then that night I had to write a cheque and signed the wrong name lol. I have to tear it up!!

I'm sad about losing mine as well.  I'm going from having two first names to having the last name of Abderhalden.  Quite a mouthful.  Haha.

I love my current signature. But, I haven't really practiced the new 1. I love the letter "R" (which is the first letter of FH's surname. So, I plan to have a lot of fun with it :)

You know, I only have less than 2 months before I get married and I haven't really thought about how I'm going to write my name. I'm taking his name and am really happy cause everyone misspells or cannot proounce mine right ever. So his is so simple, easy and short. But I haven't figured out how I'm gonna write it. I kinda have just had that slip my mind I guess

I practice doodling my new name ALL the time!!! LOL! I'm a little sad to be getting rid of my current last name but it's worth it to marry the love of my life. I'll be going from 10 letters down to 4!

I haven't gave it a single thought I've had so many things on my plate my last name has been the last of my worries LOL!  Come to think of it I'll be bumping my name up 2 more letter which will make my full name unbearably long but oh well haha!

I've practiced my new signature a ton of times lol!!  About a year ago I was working at a daycare and so sometimes when all the babies were asleep (IF that ever happened lol!!) then I would practice my new name and also practice writing baby names that I liked too...lol I was in a daycare!!  But babies are still like another 4 or 5 years down the road for us...still the point is I've definitely practiced...but maybe that's because I'm going from 4 letters (Cook) to 12 letters (Stringfellow)!!  So I'm almost the opposite of crystaljomo, and hey my name is Krystal too lol!!  Anyways, even though my new last name is a pretty strange one (I think it's Native American in origin!!), it actually looks very pretty the way I've practiced it in cursive...it just takes like 3 times as long to write it all out now...so I guess that's why I needed the practice lol!!

A reciently-married friend asked me this, as she had changed her name, then suddenly didn't know how to sign it!  So, I've thought about it since then.

I like my current signature - the initials of my first and middle name, then my last name.  I run the initials together with the first letter of my last name.

Unfortunately, I'll be going from a "P" to a "D" in my last name, which is too closely related.  I can't seem to write it properly using my current "pattern".  I may have to change it up, but I don't like the look of anything else.  Oh well.  I'll think of something.

I actually just tired this after you posted this: I don't like how my name looks..when I sign it. :( I just need to practice. My last name is going from 3 letters to 9. Although I do love my new last name. I can't wait till we have the same last name!

I wonder how hard it will be to actually get in the habbit of using the new name?

haha I tried it when I read this, it was so hard not to write my current last name. I'm still a KR though. hehe I'm so going to need to practice!

lol. I actually write his last name a lot nicer than I write my own. I hate my last name (it's smith) so I tend to just scribble it so that no one can tell what it says, whereas his is so unique that I love everyone's reaction when they read it. And it looks nicer than smith too. lmao. I haven't been practicing, but i sign his name on everything for him.

Lol I've practiced my name a lot! I'm excited to change my name, and I want to figure out how my signature will look before I go and change all my ID's.

I LOVE my last name and and going to be sad when i "retire" it. My soon to be new last name just doesn't have the same ring to it. Also the new sig is not as nice :( oh well out with the Bela! However we made a deal that if we ever have a daughter we are going to call her Bela. Then i get my Bela back lol

in italy you don't lose your last name when you're married and honestly i'm relieved because i've always liked my last name and it's special to me because it's a part of my dad (who isn't here anymore).  i have seen in italy where women will use their maiden & married name interchangeably... i think i might do this a bit because rather than repeat my last name 50 million times i can say his (which is an italian last name, of course) and they understand it the first time! LOL... in the states it would be just the opposite! ;)

as for the signatures... obviously i have mine down pat.  i can sign it in two seconds flat and i love the way it looks (it's very "me"... i sign my first initial and last name, all in lower case :D ).  after reading your post i tried out his and it takes me forever to sign it!  i guess i would just need some time... ;)
