Battle of the metals
?Gold v. White gold (or platinum)
So ladies here is the deal. My fiance proposed to me with a sparkly, beautiful white gold ring. It was all his idea and all his choice (well, I did drop hints I liked PRINCESS cut, OK? lol). Well I was sick recently and my Grandpa came from Las Vegas up here to Chicago to see me. I was very ill but he knew I planned on getting better and marrying Kevin (who he loves).I am Grandmas namesake and I have always felt very close to them. My Grandma passed away too soon when I waas about 15. To wrap the story up he came to the hospital and gave me his and my Grandmas wedding bands. THIS IS HUGE. They had 8 kids including my mom and probably 30-something grandkids and 4 great-grandkids. Out of everyone I got the rings. The rings are yellow gold. I know I could melt it down or coat it or get it changed in some way to match my engagement ring, but I don't want to lose her ring in all the changes. Anyone else out there have a similiar issue? Anyone; What would you do?

Take me to bed or lose me forever
Show me the way home honey!
Hey LADIES! It's been too long (since most of you do not know me you might be wanting to just give up now, but I promise it gets better)! I had been in a wedding funk. Hotstuff and I had been so busy... with me being sick. This time we picked a date and we made serious promises to keep it, so here it is September 4th 2009 (not too hot, not too cold and the lovley colors of the leaves... that I could care less about, the colors- not my favorite).
I am pretty lucky I did 99%of the little things and the nit picky projects before my 1st date and all the big things were taken care of then too.I still have a little bit to do but I am not complaining- I will be posting pictures of all the things that I start putting together soon. I have 1 huge thing left... I HAVE NO DRESS!!! Due to all of my hospital appointments and stays there, I have had no time, strength or energy. I barely have the strength now, but I have to. I am going to jump off a cliff if all I find is hidious dresses because I have waited so long. ONE THING...I know a few hair flower sites but I cannot find what I am looking for, if you have any site you know that that adult flower hair pins PLEASE let me know :) c?nnie |

Making the absolute most out of my Wedding
...Color clash!?!?!
I have been in touch with the secretary of state's office about promoting organ donation and I decided to include it in our wedding. They said they would send me the promotional tools and sign up materials for 225! I think I will place these on each of the place settings. Since are having a cocktail reception we are not doing menus. The colors of the Donate Life materials are green and blue which clash with the wedding colors. Any ideas on how to blend it all together?

So Sick & Tired!
♥Of being Sick & Tired
I have done just about everything I can for my wedding that can be done right now... just a few extras that I am adding. I still have not tried on ONE wedding dress (although my mind is pretty much made up on one) and I am so worried that I will not be ready in time.
I am starting to lose my mind in this house doing nothing but wedding planning. Everyone around here says, "oh its so good you have your planning to do while you are waiting, you have something to do". I hope that when it comes time to have the wedding I am not so burnt out on it I could care less! I know I will be calm but I do not want to be indifferent! Everyday that goes by and I do not get the call for surgery I get a little bit more freaked out, its getting down the WIRE. They say if everything goes PERECT it will break down like this: 2 weeks in the hospital 3 months recovery 6 months back to normal (as normal as it will be) Thats not even taking into account everything else, the pill schedule I will have to get used to (25 pills a day at exact times) and there is also a 90% chance I will have diabetes because of it (the medications) so I will need to get used to having diabetes and everything that goes along with that. I got listed for transplant just over 4 months ago now and I am number one on the list so they figured I would go fast, but it just happens to be things have been slow and when they do get good lungs they are not the right age/size for me :( So its taking WAY longer then expected, we all expected me to be at my 3 month recovery mark by now, which would give me MORE then enough time to get my body adjusted and right for the wedding. It is SO hard to be this way, to be this sick and just to be sitting around waiting not able to go anywhere or do anything day after day. I have been overcoming this illness for years now and I am not stopping anytime soon, but I am starting to worry about the Wedding!! Fingers crossed & prayers said :) |

Cufflinks
♥Fun, Funky, Sports Teams, The Simpsons & more
The first picture is of the cufflinks I am going to get for my dad and )possibly) Kevin. They both play in a league and we play at home a lot. My dad who is retired Air Force was the dart champion when he was enlisted! Oooohhhh :)
There are also some pictures I have added of some cool ones I like. The UNC ones would not load :( They are all from justcufflinks.com What would be your fiances pick for the perfect cufflink? All mine asked was nothing typical or boring (I think cufflinks bore him anyway). |

Go Green!
?Lets all SAVE the planet or just start off small
I have been feeling a little guilty about consuming so much for this wedding. I do not pay as much attention to the evironment as I should & I am a huge consumer. I want to do better though. It seems like the whole country is going green! Although you might not be able to go totally green for your wedding make there are a few things you & I can do!
10 Inexpensive Ways to Make Your Wedding Eco-Friendly 1.Use biodegradable seed paper for wedding invitations. Instead of a paper wedding invitations, use seed-embedded cards. When planted in soil, they grow wildflowers. More tree-free alternatives for wedding invitations include include hemp, bamboo, banana stalk and sugarcane paper 2.Buy a pre-loved or vintage wedding dress. If your mothers, sisters, or best friends wedding dress isnt right for you, consider buying a pre-loved wedding gown. Many bridal stores specialize in restoring, recycling and selling wedding gowns. This is an inexpensive way to make your wedding eco-friendly. Plus, vintage wedding dresses not only help make your wedding green theyve got soul. 3.Donate your wedding gown to a good cause. The Making Memories Breast Cancer Foundation donates all proceeds from used wedding gowns to making wishes come true for cancer patients. Make your wedding eco-friendly and dont let your wedding dress languish in the closet or attic for decades, recycle it for a good cause (and good karma!). 4.Rent a hybrid, compact, or old-fashioned vehicle. Instead of a stretch limo or Hummer, make your wedding eco-friendly by reducing your carbon emissions. A green marriage ceremony can end on the perfect note if you hire a horse and buggy. Not only is it eco-friendly, it lends a whimsical touch of nostalgia. If you plan early and shop around enough, this could be an inexpensive way to make your wedding eco-friendly. 5.Set up an organic gift registry. Look for stores that sell organic cotton, recycled glassware, bamboo home accessories, and so on. Your gift registry can (and should) reflect your green wedding, lifestyle, and values. Or, ask your guests to donate to eco-friendly organizations or environmental groups instead of buying you gifts. 6.Use local, seasonal flowers. Your local florist can tell you which bouquets are local and seasonal which means they dont have to travel long distances or damage the planet. This is an inexpensive way to make your wedding eco-friendly because local and seasonal are often cheaper. 7.Give live wedding favors. Instead of knick knacks, give your guests live wedding favors such as seed packets, bulbs, or tree seedlings. Anything thats sustainable and renewable is a great way to enhance your green marriage ceremony. Put your eco-friendly wedding favors in palm leaf wedding favor boxes to complete the effect. 8. Serve local, organic beer and wine. If your province or state doesnt make local wine, dont go overseas. For an inexpensive way to make your wedding eco-friendly, buy alcohol that hasnt traveled for hundreds of thousands of miles. Consider making your own organic beer or wine and give a bottle to your guests as wedding favors. 9. Research eco-friendly wedding websites. GreatGreenWeddings.com and GreenEleganceWeddings.com are fairly comprehensive eco-friendly wedding websites. Dont forget about green living or eco-friendly lifestyle websites, which usually have an article or two about green weddings. 10. Plan a green honeymoon. Eco-friendly honeymoons include exotic eco-tours, wilderness retreats, eco-spas, and local eco-escapes. In fact, green honeymoons may be more romantic and bonding than traveling to Hawaii or St Maarten. They may or may not be an expensive way to make your wedding eco-friendly it depends on how the resort and distance from your house. -List (wedding-planning.suite101) |

♥Wedding Dresses in Color? Do or Don't?
Is it fabulous and original? Brides doing what fits them the best? Or do you think it is just plain tacky? In China most brides wear red, it is said to bring good luck. I have seen many Indian weddings and those brides wear a red dress tradtionally also, but seeing as how some of them have many events they get to wear many FABULOUS colors! Would you wear a bright blue dress if you LOVED it? Do you think white is always right? Do any of you believe that only a "pure" bride should be wearing white anyway? From what I have read white has only been "in" as the color for wedding dresses since the 1800's. ?Here is an old wedding poem? Married in white, you will have chosen all right. Married in grey , you will go far away. Married in black, you will wish yourself back. Married in red, youll wish yourself dead. Married in blue, you will always be true. Married in pearl, youll live in a whirl. Married in green, ashamed to be seen, Married in yellow, ashamed of the fellow. Married in brown, youll live out of town. Married in pink, your spirits will sink. Does that pink slip mean I am going to sink??? Uh-oh :) Colored Wedding Dresses... Do or Don't? |

♥Centerpieces, Lighting (Candles! Candles! Candles!) and PiNK!
1st off I have way WAY too much time on my hands as a lot of you know ;) I have made mini inspiration boards to email to vendors. I am just posting them up as I email them out :) I made this board to give the florist and wedding coordinator to show the look I am going for. I am going to do the carnation centerpieces like the top right (change out white for hot pink). The table linens will be like the bottom left and the same colors all over, but the linen will be in SILVER DAMASK (of course, damask lol). The other two pictures set the mood, it will dim because it is a cocktail reception. Candles will be around the flowers like the picture top right. I am buying 300 votives/holders to do the job! The pink will stand out but there will not be any black... PiNK, White, Silver & Bling ;) ? ps. this site has been screwing with me ALL day so I just hope this posts... nothing has so far! |

♥Loose Diamond Confetti... Got it today!
I got my diamond confetti in the mail today! Bling Bling! It looks GREAT. The diamonds reflect the light better then I could capture in a picture!
The first picture is of the packages it comes in. The first is the 2 carat the second the 4 carat (I put it on my laptop so you could get an idea of the size). The diamonds in my hand are the 4 carat. I got 2 of each but I am thinking I might need a few more, I am going to have trial run at the centerpieces 1st. ♥ Hot Pink Wedding
This has been a VERY stressful wedding week for me! I am sure most of you have had one like it! I have changed the colors and overall look of the wedding back to my original colors & ideas. When I started planning I picked Hot Pink, Silver & White to be the reception colors because they were my favorite colors and best fit my personality. Over the past couple of months I started changing towards a Marie Antoinette style wedding (even though I never, EVER liked gold in the past, I was using this as a main color!). I do still think what I came up with is beautiful but I want the wedding to reflect my personality and taste more. I am still keeping some elments of Marie Antoinette, but this way it is all me all the way. A "Constance" themed wedding. Oh yes and Kevin of course (who by the way is not left out b/c I am crazy, but because he really does not give a **** about wedding decor!) :) haha Most things remain the same, except the table linens, centerpieces & then cake! I went back to the original cake I picked out (the lace with the bow silver and white). Here is a slide show of the changes (some just inspiration) and old but new color scheme. I wish I had stuck with this from the begining! |
