Bridesmaids
♥How much is too much to ask your bridemaids to pay?
The original dress I picked out is out of stock now! A few of the girls went to order it and thats how I found out!

I have picked out a new dress (the one in the picture except in French Blue).... The dresses are between $250-280....

How much is too much to ask your bridesmaids to pay?
How much are yours?

Well this is a tough one, with my bridesmaids i was lucky.... they didnt care how much the dress was and they all loved the dress.... they payed about 200 for the dress after taxes and i really felt bad asking them to put that money out for me because hate asking for people to spend money on things for me... i would talk to your bridesmaids and if they are all right with it then just pick your favorite...

My bridesmaids dresses were $225...

Its only too much if the bridesmaid can't afford it. Do any of your bridesmaids have money troubles? When you say yes to someone about being a bridesmaid, you have to expect there to be some expense

I agree its too much if they don't have the money but if you know they can afford it I don't think it would be a big deal.

My girls dresses were $110 + a $15 customs fee. ($125)
We got a great deal at Davids Bridal.  But I did have the bridal party prepared to pay up $300 for their gowns.  I am sure that the girls will have no problem spending the money, they would not have agreed to be a bridesmaid if they were not prepared to do so.   Happy Planning!

Like other brides, I have been very fortunate to have 2 MOH's who are not considering the price of the dress to be an option.  We are really in between 3 different dresses ranging from $150 to $320.  I want them to spend the lower end at the max, but they have reassured me that they will purchase whatever I choose.  Since they are so sweet about it, I want the final decision to be up to them.  They can choose one of the 3 that I pulled, & we'll go from there.

i think they can all afford the dress.... but 4 of them have to fly here and thats already a big expense (plus hotel) i think they would all say yes... but some might secretly curse me :)

Around $200.00...

I dont think it is too much for them to pay for their own dresses. Most maids do. What i did, when I asked each girl to be in my wedding party, I advs them that they would need to pay for their own dress, so they had the option of not bieng in the wedding, or bieng in it and paying. I could not afford $1100 in dresses. PLUS they each got to choose their own dress. As long as it was same color and same designer. They enjoyed that because every girl has a diff body style, so they didnt feel like they were buying and wearing a dress they hated.  Mine ranged from 120-300.. so it was up to them which one they wanted.

I got accepted for the David's Bridal credit card, so I put my girls dresses on that (I just have one MOH and one BM) and they're paying me back. But, my BM was prepared to give up to 300 because that's what her bridesmaids paid for her wedding. My sister's attire cost $210 and my bridesmaids was $190. That includes everything but their underwear, it does include bras.
I think $250 is reasonable, if they can pay it. My bridesmaid is still going to school and my sister has four kids, thus I paid for it on the credit card and they're paying me back. Also, some stores say that they can't garuntee the same dress color if they're bought at different times/different credit cards.
Good luck and I think that dress looks amazing!

I called about the dress (it was $220) ... I am going to go with it!! I love it too much!!

that dress is WAY cute!!! your girls will be able to wear it again for sure. my girls dresses were 200 but i talked them down to 175 so it was like 200 with tax and i found their shoes at a nine west outlet for 25!!!!! but i think 300 is a normal price i mean they know how much regular party dresses cost so i dont think 300 is tooo much.

Did you or one of your girls try it on yet...I soo want to order it but i wish I could see it on someone first..what do you think? I'm fomr canada and no store aorund here carries it :(
 |  Belleville, IL, United states  |  03/10/2008
That's a hard question..Maybe you can ask your bm's if they are comfortable with paying that much. It might not be a problem?

I'm lucky with my bm's I told them they can choose any style they want as long as it's the same color. That way they know what they can afford & they can pick a style that best fits their style.

Well, I am in a different situation. I have only one bridesmaid, my sister who's actually my MOH. No more girls to dress, apart from my daughter who'll be a flower girl but her dress is so cheap, i kinda decided I would fork out for my sister's dress. It costs around $200, which is an awful lotta money in Hungary, so right now we're 50/50 but I may just pay for it fully. I asked her to pay for the shoes though so that's her input.

I'm from Toronto Canada too and love that dress. If you find out anything Kroby22 please let me know. I've been eyeing it for a month now. I'm not sure how to get it but I plan to find out. I know there is one shop in mississauga that might carry it

I personally would not mind paying up to $250, but I wouldn't be able to ask my girls to pay over 175-200 probably. That is why I'm letting them choose their own! As much as I like the look of uniformity in the bridal party, I wanted to do something different - and I have 8 girls that have all different body types. I just said David's Bridal since it's inexpensive & convenient for the out-of-towners, color is Peridot, and they must all be satin.

I love the dress you've chosen - it is beautiful!!! I myself would have NO problem paying 250-280 for that!
