Okay, so I'm not sure about etiquette but I'm giving the 'moms' gifts at the engagement party. Is that crazy? It's nothing big or expensive. I know my mom wants copies of some of the engagement pictures, and I know his mom does too... So, I made mini photo albums for each of the mom's (my mom, stepmom and his mom) I got the photo albums at hobby lobby for $2.99. The are the accordion type and only hold 16 photos. I printed our favorite pictures to go inside. We are going with the colors Red, Black & White - with damask accents (I think that is becoming really popular). I found some coasters at Hobby Lobby with a damask on the front. They were on clearance for $2.90. I wasn't sure what I was going to do with them when I bought them, but I think it worked out okay. I used double sided tape to attach the coaster to the front of the album. I tied a thin black ribbon around the spine of the album and attached a heart tag that I engraved our names on one side and "engaged 7.5.08" on the back. I manage a Things Remembered in the mall, so I was able to do the tags at a discount. I also bought plain red bags for .50 @ Hobby Lobby. I used a damask stamp and embossed it in black. I replaced the ugly red cord for the handles with pretty black organza ribbon ($1.99 at Joann Fabrics). Is it crazy to give that to them at the engagement party?
