Wedding Rings And Jewelry
Where can I find reasonable men's wedding rings?
So as you know Patrick and I are already legally married but our wedding isn't until June. For Christmas we are getting each other our wedding bands so we can start to wear them as everyone in Chicago know's us as Mr. and Mrs. O'Neill already and my students have started to ask why I don't wear a wedding band. We ordered mine by the same designer who did my E-ring, Leigh Natch out of NYC, but we went to Robbin's Brother's on Sunday to find a ring for Patrick and the prices were more expensive than mine and mine has diamonds on it! He likes the 6 mm bands that are brushed int he middle with satin edges but they wanted between $900 and $1,800 for them and they were only white gold which we think he'll bend too easily. We're looking for this style in platium, tungsten or titanium. Any suggestions?

NWR Our First Christmas Tree!
Our first holiday season as husband and wife.
So today Patrick came home from work and told me to put on my coat that we were going to buy a present for me. He took me across the street to the MacDonald's parking lot across from Wriggley Field and told me to pick out a Christmas tree!! I've never had a real Christmas tree and in the three years we've been together we have yet to even get a fake one. So this is our first little Charlie Brown tree, complete with only two ordaments.....we'll get more with time. I think it's too funny that we'll have to tell our kids that our first Christmas, mommy bought daddy a tree from the MacDonald's parking lot...oh Chicago.

What I learned about Bed and breakfasts
A weekend with the hubby in Long Grove, IL
So the weekend as a whole was wonderful. We did a wine tasting yesturday that took us into all the little shops in the village tasting a different wine in each. I thought it would be a romantic to stay at a little bed and breakfast not too far from Long Grove. Here's what I learned:
1.Chances are it'll be decorated like your mom's house. 2. No one wants to have sex at your mom's house. 3. The rooms are very very close together. 4. Your Inn keeper may want to know your entire life story over breakfast. 5. Nicknacks will be found in every room..including the bathroom. 6. Said nicknacks could be painted gold to look like antiques. 7. Thats not a real wood stove, it's a space heater that lights up plastic logs... 8. Theres just nothing sexy about victorian floral feather beds. |

Six month wedding anniversary!
We've been married for six months today!
Today Patrick and I have been married for six months. We were married at the Chicago city courthouse on June 12, 2008 but our wedding is actually six months and a day from today in Deep Creek, Maryland lol. To celebrate we're doing a weekend trip to Long Grove, IL and staying over at a B&B this weekend. I'll be sure to let you know how the weekend goes. I know six months isn't very long to be married but it's still kind of exciting.

Wedding Photography
getting stuff done
So my mother-in-law and I did some wedding planning today and I spoke with a photographer from Vision Quest Studios in Deep Creek and had them pencil us in. I'm a little worried becuase they do alot of work with one of the local wedding venues that is already booked for my wedding day do we need to grab them before the other bride does. She also mentioned that we won't be able to have the ceremony down near the water like I had hoped, there just isn't enough room for our guests down there. So I'm a little bummed, but Patrick has a few ideas and my mother-in-law thinks his grandad can build us some sort of an archway as a backdrop, although I'm not Jewish, I just love the look of chuppahs so I'm going to find some pics for him. Goals for the week:
Call Green Acres Florist Check back with photographer Research Chuppahs and Arches |

Bridesmaid gifts
So today I went to Joann's with one of my bridesmaids and picked up these cute unfinished wooded jewlery boxes and a new wood burner. So far I've finished three of them, burning a starfish and their names into the cover and then the words "thank you" on the inside then staining them. I'm going to put a starfish pendant necklace in each one and I bought these cute gift bags and chocolate brown ribbon to tie on each one. I'm still getting used to wood burning again, I used to be really good at it in high school, I used to carve designs in picture frames and table tops and things. Tell me what you think!

Ask a Question
Any other brides planning from far away?
Just wondering if there are any other brides out there that are planning their weddings from far away and if they have any tips for those of us who are planning far from home. My husband and I were legally married in June of 08 but will be having our actual wedding this coming June in Deep Creek Maryland so with help from my mother in law I'm in the midst of planning the wedding from halfway across the country in Chicago. I have no idea how to get everything done from so far away and keep having nightmares of everything looking tacky or just not being organized on the big day. Any advice?

Starting a new blog
Okay so I used to keep a free open diary then a myspace blog as a way to keep in touch with my sister and my cousin while they were away at college. So after hearing about a new blog site from sdclarinet who is actually one of my close friends from home on the island, I decided to give it a try again. I miss everyone back east so much, I'm hoping this will be a good way to stay in touch and help me with all of the changes going on in my life right now. Check it out if you'd like.

Bridesmaids
Looking good in Mink :)
So I totally forgot to post these. As soon as I saw the cocoa color in person I wanted to gag!! It was the color of baby poop! But the good news is, the mink color was beautiful in person. So we are keeping the pale pale pink and adding the pretty chocolate brown mink color and just my maid of honor will wear the pale beige. Here are Beth dress pick. Beth's sample dress was the actual mink color which awsome since most bridesmaids have to try on samples in different colors then their ordering. This pink one is pretty much the color from bari jay, bari jay's might be a little paler.
